That, exactly that one, was my first electric guitar... wow... Then I bought another one of a better brand, one piece, active pickups and I don't know how many other things... but I rarely used it, because it was so exclusive, I didn't want anything to happen to it... absurd, I know... I know.... But well, I remember hours and hours studying with the RGX312... and I fantasized because it was, in appearance, the same as an ESP of kirk hammett, from Metallica, black with a beige handle... (if I didn't play like him, at least the guitar looked like his) hahaha... I ended up giving it away because I left the instrument... and now -20 years later- I miss it... I listen to "The call of Ktulu..." and I would like to play it... (yes, the twists and turns of life...) Your video brought back good memories and longing... You never know when something you produce can trigger an important memory and emotions in someone else... Thank you!
Everytime I hear electrical issues on an old guitar like this, I will just replace all the pots, switches, and jacks. I feel like that is the minimum a guitar deserves after surviving this long in one piece (more or less lol) That bridge is ass, it will NOT hold a tune in my experience. I spent about 2 hr's trying to do micro-adjustments. Doesn't matter, cheap zinc alloy bridge. The saddles can snap if you barely overtighten the allen saddle set screws, or the fine tuners! Don't know if any floyd will be a direct drop in, but DO NOT BUY if you ever want to use the trem.
I think the pots were replaced and it jsut got wired wrong. As I recall, everything was fine other than the incorrect wiring. The guitar was well worn, which tells me it must have been a good player, so I suppose whoever owned it before didn't have tuning issues. Like there must have been some logic to these systems when they made them, just might not have held up well in the long run. I've def had old clapped out floyds that just wouldn't anymore and needed to be replaced. That's funny about the cheap metal, I know what you mean. It's funny cause my personal Yamaha RGX is made of better materials than most guitars in the same price range. I'd put it ahead of the average Ibanez RG of the same era. That said, yeah, maybe I should of measured to see if a floyd would of dropped in. That would be a sweet upgrade.
@@BillyTheKidsGhost Ah hah, They are a good looking guitar. I have always likes the aesthetic, but whenever I actually play one it's like oof. It'd take some getting used to for me.
