The video was taken by me, how to replace front brake pads on Yamaha Roadstar 2005 1700cc. Service Manuals sites.google.c... Owners Manual www.yamahamoto...
Fantastic looking Roadstar Roger! You must be really proud. Great video! Thanks for filling all of us in on what to do w/our brakes. You're a patriot. God bless you Roger.
@@weron021 I want to ask you how do you know it is time to change the pads? I bought 2004 Roadstar and it squeaks when I hit the brake. Could this sound be due to something other than the braking pads?
@@liratium Just inspect the pads, how thick they are, second clean the entire brake system, that includes rotors, brake pads, and brake caliper. Use Brake cleaner with different types of brushes Lubricate the pins. My brakes don't squeak at all.
I just bought this same year and model bike and was looking up info about it when I stumbled on to your channel and just wanted to say thank you for all your videos! And i definitely will he subscribing!
I use 2 hard wood wedges between the pad and rotor to drive the pistons in, then i don't have to remove the caliper, you can also use two screwdrivers to accomplish it, saves a lot of time
Hi Roger. I have watched both of you brake pad replacement videos and I really like them, very straightforward. Anyway, can you tell me if the front pads are the same as the rear pads and what part number or model of pads are you using? Thank you so much.
Hello Michael Rear pades are difrent from the rear, part number for the rear pads- 4WM-W0046-00 . BRAKE PAD KIT 2 and here is the number for the front pads-5VN-W0045-00 . BRAKE PAD KIT. Have a great day.
Hi Roger, is it necessary to remove the calipers on a 2005? I have been reading that the pads will come right out without the removal of the caliper. They clymer manual doesn't reference removal of the calipers in their instruction of the 2004 and beyond, only the 1999-03.
Thanks again I just watched it again and did mine great video. I do have a question on your fairing you have those plezi glass attachments can you tell me about those? Thanks
Thank you, do you mean the little skulls or the side black plastick covers. I have purchased the bike lie that not sure where the previous owner got those.
@@weron021 I appreciate the response. I'm just trying to find the best possible options for a good solid battery from a few people who also have a Roadstar like us. I am considering the Yusa battery, but I am also now going to take a look at what you are using. Thanks again.
Thanks for your helpful videos, I have same your motor, and I have a question please my motor consumption is 1L per 10 Km , is it normal or it is too much?
@@mkurdi8074 First check your spar plugs or replace them, clean your carburetor, adjust your fuel mixture screw on your carburetor 2.5 turns from close position is the norm. Clean your fuel filter, Clean your Air filter. Those are the basis that you can do.
Thanks a million for posting this! Noticed this evening that it’s time to change mine on my ‘08. Your video definitely helped clear out some confusion. Looks pretty simple as long as you take your time! Excellent!
Thanks for posting this video Roger. I got a builder to fully customize my Roadstar 1700cc 2005 but I kept the original breaks so your video was easy to follow and lucky I did, I would have forgotten about the darn arrows lol. Great job...
Thanks for the video. One question my break pads/break clips rattle when hitting little bumps in the road. I can rock my clip back and forth oh so slightly to make the noise. I have all pins in and all together correctly, just wondering how to stop the clanking?
Hello Roger! Would you be able to do/post a video on how to bleed both tje rear and the front breaks? I've seenba few videos but they are using a bleeding kit with and air compressor and I don't bhave an air compressor nor do I have access to one. If you'd be able to please post a step by step on how to bleed the breaks the old school way, I'd appreciate it. Thank you brother!
Jose Rojas jr I bled mine with a video off of you tube and it was pretty easy. Basically I used a syringe, a long piece of clear tubing and I pumped the brake fluid up from the bottom of the caliper to the brake reservoir and it pushed all the dirt out. I think the video is called "reverse bleed brake fluid" nice project good luck.
Hi, I'm looking into getting a road star silverado. I read on forums that a typical problem with road stars is gear oil pump or oil pump. Is that true? Is it certain years?
@@weron021 thanks for your response. I'm looking at a 1999 it looks like the exhaust coming from front cylinder pipe is discolored kinda blue then orange. Does that mean it overheated? Only has 19,xxx miles
