Regarding user manuals and setup, its a wonder the larger companies don't include a usb stick or link to a video showing setup rather than offering the age-old, often not terribly clear, black and white book.

For me, the majority of "wireless" rear speakers are far more of a pain because, with the exception of very few, if any, they require plugging into a power socket rather than just running speaker cable to the aforementioned speakers.

DAB is great in Australia, for the most part, I could never pick up AM stations or if I did it would be mostly static and difficult to understand, but I am much more likely to pick up the DAB reception and once grabbed on it offers crystal clear sound, the only caveat is the quality of the stream depends on individual stations paying for and sending out a certain bandwidth. For example, ABC Classic FM (Digital) pays for much greater bandwidth and offers a far superior audio stream than the majority of commercial stations. but either way it offers static-free radio reception :D having said that as long as I have electricity, I tend just to use the IOS app to listen to the ABC stations.

I want to see the setup. I want to see how to configure the display to show the audio, example Dolby Digtal, etc. I just received my 880 and would like to same some of my time and see how to set it up.

I wonder what percentage of your customers use the zone 2 option, its been available on receivers for perhaps 20 years now and it always seems to me, a bit of an odd inclusion simply because in order to setup a zone two you have to run speaker cable all the way from one room to another which would be a complete pain in the arse, not to mention only being able to use the remote control and make changes in the room the receiver lives. Now as the modern alternative, I think the MusicCast is genuinely a great inclusion for truely convenient multiroom listening.

As we are also involved with people who are building and renovating, we will often pre-wire for Zone-2 and evern Zone-2. I tis lovely to be able to add outdoor speakers, or picture (and sound) to a second TV area, for little more than the price of the speakers.

I use Zone 2 (currently on an old Pioneer). I had the speakers prewired to an internal courtyard when I built my home. I control the zone with an app not the IR remote. Probably not that necessary now given Multicast and Sonos etc, but I still like it.

Hi, I am purchasing the 1080 and was hoping you share insights as far as speakers impedance as Im looking to buy those soon, mainly looking at yamaha bookshelfs size

The amp has the ability to set impedance, plus, the RX-A1080 is a big enough amp to cope with a wide range of loads.

@@TLPCHC Thanks, matter of fact i end up getting the 880 but i doubt its much different than the 1080 bought also the Soavo 2 951 which are 6 ohms, like you said i should be able to change default impedance from the reciever settings.

I have a question. Would the sound quality be a big difference between RX-A680 vs RX-A880 or are we just talking about supporting higher Watt? Where I live they cost almost the same, just wondering if the extra cost is worth it Also, I noticed in the video the sticker says Wireless Rear, so we can't have wireless roof speakers for Atmos? . I keep hearing the Advantage line are outstanding, and I have only had the RX-V series in my life. I currently have a RX-V765 and am in need of a 4k supported receiver.

The RX-A880 is a big step up in overall performance over the 680. Please (please, please) invest the extra cash in the 880, or even the 1080... you won't regret it.

Thanks. I went for the 880. The 1080 is out of my price range. :) But I was bummed to find out the 880 doesn't have Surround:AI. Really misleading since the release advertisement for this series shows it.

Yes - the difference is worth it. But, try and step up to the RX-A1080. That is a stunning amplifier and way, way better than both the RX-A880 and 780.

No there is no difference at all. It has the same DAC on both machines, get the 1080 instead if you want better sound quality.

Hi, in the specs, the impedance is 4/8 ohms. How it works? the minimum is 4 and max 8? Speakers with 6ohms is fine with this receiver? I have a pair Elac 6.2 (6ohms).

Just set it to 4ohm when the speakers are less than 8ohm.

The written specs are simular, but the small differences add up to a vastly BETTER sound and steering of surround sound.

Simular, but the performance difference (when you listen to it) is massive. The RX-A880 is stunning.

Yea, good point. I guess we are all wanting to have a good play and see if it is as good as Yamaha make out. Watch this space, as the RX-A1080 will be coming out soon, and by then I will have had a play with the AI on the 780 and 880.

Everytime he keeps on throwing things from d box and crashing plastic wraps. How can you repack or sell d item with damaged plastics. Bad.

Nothing ever gets damaged. The items land on thick carpet, with superb underlay. It is not unsusual for us to inhance the sound of it landing to imply more "impact". We sell all of our AVR's new in the box, untill the model is EOL, then the unboxed one is sold at a run out price, with a massive discount, taking into account everything you see in these video's.

For BT out: Within the MusicCast app, select the icon at the bottom, right of the screen (that looks sort of like a mixing desk or graphic eq icon) . Bottom of the options that appear is "Bluetooth". If playing IN, use the phone to search and set it up

I'm sorry, but beyond what you can read above each component section, speakers, inputs, outputs, et. al. this video is absolutely useless. I have the manual downloaded and all we received on this video is what is visible, printed and that everything except the receiver itself is "throw away".

Nothing gets damaged. We are just trying to be relaxed about these video's. The product is always cared for, the packaging lands on thick carpet with good, deep underlay.

Many things are simular between these models, but many more subtle things are different. This all adds up to an obvious quality change.

@@TLPCHC yeah I would like to save a few hundreds by getting the cheaper 685 if it isn't much of a difference sound quality wise over the build quality like that 3 foot and what ever else they add to the construction of the aventage.
