Sounds like Yamaha hit the marks with this sled. If it is up to the legendary Yamaha quality, it's a home run!

Great review. I’m a mountain rider and never get to see trail sleds so it’s nice to stay up to date with what’s offered in the trail and touring sector.

You can turn the bar at a stand still with 1 finger ! It’s amazing that the skis turn effortlessly with the weight on them . Any sled without power steering - even a light weight Polaris takes some extra muscle to turn at a stand still .

Id really love to try one of these. It looks very comfy. Need more speed that what my viper provides haha

We just received ours this past week. There’s a lot to like about this sled, and some not so great things for the price. Having been a long time EPS vector rider the EPS is a game changer for long rides and when set up with the right skis and runners virtually eliminates all darting. This sidewinder handles like it was on rails with no adjustments. The chassis may not be on par with the Doo and Polaris sleds but it’s leaps and bounds better than my Vector in the suspension department, like no comparison when in the bumps, it’s flies right through em. Sitting position is comfy though my knees do rest against the panels sometimes. The power is very easy to handle and manageable. Simple to ride it slowly but when you want to boogie the thrust is unlike anything. It’s a bummer the gauge pack is so archaic and there isn’t a gauge like Polaris 7S. Definitely needs to be some refinements made in that category.

Beautiful sled. It's too bad the production models are coming with a blue seat. Maybe it will look better in person, but the black shown above looks better to me.
@biffdotorg
@biffdotorg 2 года назад
@Katie Maciver good to know as all of this model were Spring order only from what we were told. And the only ones we have seen have been the pre-production models until folks on Totally Yamaha took delivery of the production models and posted pics of it. I love the black seat way better for sure.

At $5000 more than any of their competition in the same class of sled, you have to wonder if it's worth it. Yes, it has more HP than anyone in that class but, Yamaha pricing needs to tone it down to attract more customers. The only brand-new sleds I see at all on trails are Polaris and Skidoo. It's been like that for a good while now. It's VERY rare to see any Yamaha on the trail newer than 2010. That's just got me worried about the future of Yamaha snowmobiles. My 1st snowmobile was a 1999 SRX. Back then, they were priced with the competition. Not totally out of the ballpark away from the competition.
@motoshark5847
@motoshark5847 2 года назад
Agreed the pricing is high. Not sure they are that much more than a comparable Doo. But from what I notice is the Doo and Polaris riders seem to get a new sled every few years or so. Yamahas riders tend to buy and hold for many years
@snappydavegood8820
@snappydavegood8820 2 года назад
What sled is in the same class, other than a TCat? The MachZ, at $19.995.00, thats not $5000 less. My riding buddy just got his pre-ordered Winder L-TX GT,( with the blue seat) and his preseason pricing was $1000 LESS than an XCR850 he was considering, and that sled isn't even a 4 stroke or Turbo'd. Where we ride there are mostly Cats and Doos, and a fair amount of Winders. Very few Matryx sleds.

@@snappydavegood8820 Idk about where you love but In Canada the lowest priced full size Yamaha 4 stroke is $25000 minimum.

It does not come with an ice ripper. You are bang on. It was a bit weird to hear him say ice ripper while they showed the very clearly a 1.25 ripsaw 2. For the record all ltxs come with the ripsaw 2 and have since 2020. 2019 they went deeper and it didn't sell well so they stuck with the 1.25 which in my opinion is an awesome awesome track.

The track on that machine is not the "Ice Ripper"! It is the "Ripsaw 2" with a 1.25 inch lug height.

Great summary, but may help to tell us how anything has changed (if at all) since previous year models. I have a '21 Sidewinder STX GT (sadly before EPS was a thing), but curious if anything else has changed beyond going from black to blue for the base color. The 998 turbo seems to still be the performance monster of sleds, but is there anything interesting that's changed since last year?

Need's a 42 liter Gas Tank. 110 miles and your out :( We're right back to the mid 2000's with range. Was Sad to run out this past weekend. Where My old 2 stroke would get me 140 miles between gas stations. Looks like I'm back to carrying Gas. UGgg.

you need power steering if your driving a pig of a sled..... if your arms are too weak to turn 2 skis on snow its time to workout...
@motoshark5847
@motoshark5847 2 года назад
If you say so but after two hundred miles the arms feel fine and all the two stroke guys are tired from fighting the darting. One thing I find nice about the power steering is when set up right it essentially eliminates darting and side to side shake.
