@ about 1:28 you can see 116mph on the speedometer. More accurately I was probably going around 114mph. I'm running the stock tires a little low at 30psi. Recommended is 41psi.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Since the video, I changed the speedometer to a koso gauge, and put longer sportster shocks that made a huge improvement to the ride quality and handling. I also swapped out the rubber handlebar mounts to solid ones, and that got rid of the "squishy" feeling of the handlebars. Wider foot pegs, etc. It really changed the feel of the bike.

I'm a newbie and just got new SCR950. Everything is stock. When I do 60+ on highway, wind buffeting gets so wild. Add crosswind to it and I start to feel slight shaky. Just to add, I wear down jacket that doesn’t allow air to pass and no windscreen. Looking at you doing 116 with no windscreen, boy I start to think either I don't know how to ride or I got a lemon.
you will get used to the wind and stop to ''fear it''. i used to ride only old CB it was like sitting on top of a table doing 100+...to me its the best biking experience, old style no fairing.
Compared to my XR250L, this bike doesn't get blown around much with all its bulk. In heavy wind, I sometimes lean the XR to almost a 45° angle to stay going in a straight line. Kinda freaks out oncoming traffic. Wind is more of a pain in the winter because it's more dense. On a hot summer day it won't be much of an issue. The whole point of the bike being a scrambler is that it is a stripped down, zero frills machine that gets you from point A to point B in a straight line no matter the terrain. "Supposed" to be, anyways.
My ‘17 scr has the Vance and Hines naked intake , the inch and a half baffle drill out and no tune. And I’ve done 116 on a good wind. And can consistently do 110. So idk if it’s worth it. MY opinion based on MY experience
Turns out the wheels were not properly balanced. Plus I switched both tires to Michelin Anakee III and Michelin extra heavy duty tube, that wasn't needed though! Now the bike flies. So, it was not a lemon; just needed tuning.
Hey man nice video. I live about 15 min south of the IL boarder in south east missouri. Just got a new scr a month ago and have already put 1300 miles on it. No mods yet just opened up the stock pipe for more loud factor. Lots of good riding around our part of the country here in the heartland! Your not to far we should meet up sometime. Not to many scr950's around.
Thanks. Unfortunately, I don't have the bike anymore. Back in May a guy in a truck pulled out in front of me and totaled the bike. My leg got crushed between the bike and the truck and I now have two metal plates holding my leg together. It's going to be a while before I can walk again.
It would have been nice to know how fast you were going. Seems like there was quite a bit of a vibration. I know the scr shocks don't have that much travel. The price for used scrs is really good, it's tempting. But I just can't seem to get over hesitation due to vibration I've heard about in the hands and pegs, quite limited shock travel. It certainly seems like a weekend cruiser or something. I don't know I guess I'm just going to have to test drive. I'm really leaning toward the xsr900 or the z1000rs or 900 when the price comes down a little bit more with used options.

So I am about to install Vance and Hines twin slash full exhaust and they V&H vo2 intake, I've been reading a lot on Ivan's flash, some say you controller or pcfc? Can I install both V&h components and have him flash, and be done? Just looking for answers thanks
No other mods are necessary. Ivan's flash is intended to be used with a high flow intake and exhaust in mind. You could add a fuel tuner on top of that and at best get 1 extra hp. I think you will be very happy with your setup.
I love the bike the way it looks and its philosophy, jumping from my R1 2016 STK1000 to this one now just wondered its top speed and lol the speed I place my elbow down on the track through the fast corner.
I was considering a Vance and hines competition slip on with their naked intake and a dynojet tuner. I love the sound of the Vance and hines slip on from other guys bikes. But I would really like some good gains. Have you had any experience with the vance and hines performace parts or know anyone who has?
The stock headers are great. There is no performance advantage to changing them. There is a slight torque advantage with duals but you lose too much hp. About any muffler other than stock is good for 4hp. Choose one that you like the sound and looks of. I got a $60 Emgo shorty and repacked it since they give you a cotton ball sized wad of packing. It sounds great and is stealthy when you are lugging it along through town. All the intakes perform similarly and are good for 9hp. Personally, I like the cobra intake. The machined intake is stunningly beautiful. Too bad it is covered by the filter. They also give you a nice bracket to hide the throttle body. As far as tuning, Ivan's ECU flash is the way to go. It is fuel and ignition tuning, not just fuel. His flash is set up with an intake and exhaust in mind, and will get you within 90% of optimal tuning. You can add a fuel tuner on top of the flash, but you are looking at a maximum of 1 additional horsepower. $200+ for 1hp is a terrible dollar per hp ratio and not worth it unless you plan on racing it. Otherwise, Ivan's flash is what you want. He's got several dynographs on his website here: www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/bolt.htm
It's kind of expensive for the hp per dollar gain, but it definitely changes the personality of the engine. The throttle feels less like an on/off switch. If someone offered me $400 to go back to stock, I wouldn't. Check out his website if you haven't already. He's got tons of dyno graphs with each mod and the gains made using them.
Windy. Lol I don't normally ride that fast, but I just wanted to see what it could do. I'm running 30psi in the tires since I ride gravel often. I think if I run the recommended 40psi, I could easily hit 117 or 118.
@@Funkedelic84 Haha, that's wild. I changed out the stock tires at 10k miles for the michelin pilot activs and can comfortably cruise at 80-85mph. I'm nearly 100% always on paved highways riding around 60 miles a day to and from work so a windscreen and street tires have made my rides a lot more consistent. I appreciate the video upload since I had a hard time believing anyone had actually got up to those speeds with the SCR.
I highly recommend getting the ECU reflashed my Ivan. It makes a huge difference in throttle response and considerably wakes up the high RPM power. I think its almost a 25hp increase around 6k rpms with the intake and exhaust. If you can go a week without the bike, the reflash is worth every penny.
More accurately about 5 seconds at part throttle navigating a turn, but hey, be jealous. I still hold the world top speed record with underinflated tires.
A old Honda CB350 will hit 115 to 120 . So 116 is nothing it being a 950 . With that CC it should have at lest 75hp . The Honda CB350 was 48 hp . So what went wrong . This is why Yamaha cant sell these bikes . Would that stop me from wanting one no . They do look cool . But for 8900 bucks . There ant no way I would buy one . I may buy one at 3000 or so .
@@Funkedelic84 : Hi there : There is a dealer in St Charles Mo that advertises them for 2999.99 . That place is called Big St Charles Motorsports LIC . Here is the kicker or where they got you . Add Tax and Lic. Then add dealer prep 780 . Then they want you to buy it on credit using their bank . So with all of that added to the 2999.99 it comes out to be 3897.00 out the door . These dealers like to play games . So it ended up not being a clearance sale at all . These dealers do get reimbursement of some sort . They have to sell them at the highest amount possible . No the so called loan deal they want all but 500 of it . What a dam joke . I am going to check other dealers . 4,000 is too much for a bike that is ready for oil and odds and ends checked over that was setting sense 2017 and now it is 2019 . Two dam years on the floor .
It's ultimately an issue with gearing, not power. If you up the gearing for top speed, first gear becomes unusable offroad, which makes the bike pointless for its intended purpose as a scrambler.
