Very well done, glad it’s been brought back to life.

Yammie has the best signature snares. Love this one!

And it’s a shame they discontinued them but I have heard a new one is in the works and another could also be on the cards.

Cracking restoration, and the sound!!? How the f**k does such an ordinary dimension/material drum sound so bloody good? 👍

Thanks brother it was the wait for and the continual wait for parts that took the time on this job. I will say the sound is unique and love snare loves a really thick head and dampening, I’m going to do another video on this to get that real fat Gadd sound.

Awesome video, again 😊!! Which do you like more - the birch or the maple version (singe you reviewed both)??
@IAMDRUMMER
@IAMDRUMMER 6 месяцев назад
Excellent question, I have to say as much as I love maple drums I really like to fat bite the birch has.

@@IAMDRUMMER So another question: the birch or the "new" steel version 😉?
@IAMDRUMMER

Oh man it’s a tough one as I love my DW True Sonic and it’s my go to metal snare but the new Gadd has one advantage over all the others…. Spare parts.

That throw off looks like the one on the Stage Custom snares

It is and I’ve never liked it especially when it’s gold plated and as rare as unicorn crap.

Will you be selling your 14x6.5 Paul Leim by chance? I've been looking for that thing for years.

Unfortunately not at this stage.

Gaddamn! Excuse my ignorants, but your saying the washers are kinda proprietary? For which part? The lugs on the inside of the drum? Does this have standard wires on it? Or does it have the 10 strand that gadd helped develop with yamaha? While i dont think itd be a huge change, i do like that they have 5 sets of 2 strands, amd i see that quite a few places still sell them. Im supeised theyre not more in the market, as sort of "signature wires", even tho they kind of say they are, its not like you can just buy em everywhere, theyre more like a replacement wire for the signature snare. Id also be curious to see if a stage custom birch snare could sound similar to this drum

Nevermind about the washers, I went back n see what ur talking about.tension.rod.washers. I didn't know they where "exclusive" . The only Yamaha thing I have is a stage custom, and I believe the washers don't come off the rods? If I recall correctly, in that,I guess they put the washer on, than cut the threads and the washer becomes locked on the tension rod. Anyways, cheers

All good man and last night I got the washers at my local store and even they were amazed at the cost, it's nuts.

I'm embarrassed to say it but I have an Odery snare that I think is worse than yours was xD for me where it really shined was in the high tuning!

Please tell me you brought it back to life, this drums are killer, high still has that classic birch sound and I love it.

those washers are possibly milled and lathed cnc each time.. quality over quantity

I like the high tuning with the eq pad.... beautiful snare man
@IAMDRUMMER
@IAMDRUMMER 6 месяцев назад
Snare with the pods works so well, the washers looked pressed and not milled but I am surprised I was even able to get some.

@IAMDRUMMER yeah man.. they're not cheap... repost when you get the fat low tuning dialled in I'd love to hear it.. Great videos man

Pressed, they should be cheap as chips then... 😉

You would think so but nope pressed little tension washers are $2 each for the Yamaha rods.
