Yamaha TG33 Demo No Talking 

Cool that you are demoing a relatively obscure piece of vintage gear. I have one of these. It's a pretty useful bit of kit in my setup. I picked it up used for cheap. I thought it might sound like my TG 77 which has been a workhorse, and the centerpiece of my live rig since I bought it in the early 90's. It doesn't sound like the 77. but the two compliment each other nicely. Love the channel. Synth on!

Jeff Mills used this a lot back in the 90's, Dan Bell(DBX) too.

This is a great little machine! I owned one 16 years ago and recorded a few tracks with it. Replaced it with a SY22 because I wanted a keyboard.

the vector recorder is amazing

One type of synthesizer I’ve not yet played or recorded with (as of December 2022) is one that features vector control like this one. For some unknown reason, the TG-33 is the lone vector synth that has tempted me. Must be a combination of its SY soundest (would like a reminder if that includes the SY electric grand piano sample), its vector control, its compact shape and its affordability.

Romplers are still useful for live performaces because of the average sounds that cover a lot of genres... The effect sections onboard help to sound 'like the record' as well... Something similar happens with the Virus keyboard stuff for electronic music...

I really need to get mine fixed.. Such a lush bit of kit.

I just bought a Proteus 1 XR for 100.00 bucks because I was so impressed by Espen Kraft review of it. This one is sooo nice tooo but almost a grand in Japan. I feel samplers and rompers are rising in prices. I mean the Emu sampler Esi32 was 100.00 and now it's 250ish?

used to love my SY22 the keyboard version of this James, had extra controller fo live gigs the perfct synth at the time now got MODX8 beautiful synth again

Cheap = It sounds good even though it is a module version of a lower model. Better than the higher model SY77.

I love FM synthesis. The FM synthesis engine can do all lot interesting sounds besides the twinkly electric pianos everyone loves. It is definitely great for ambient. I think Hiroshi Yoshimura was the probably the king of FM ambient music. There are a few interesting sounds in this unit, but a lot seem useless unless you want a weird sound for a video game score. Can it load sounds from other machines?

I guess a volca fm does pretty much the same
