Hii!!! what do you recommend for music and movies? Yamaha SR-X50A, Samsung HW-Q995GC/ZG, JBL BAR 1300 Or JBL BAR 1000? what is the best sound bar?

I was excited about the addition of AirPlay 2, but since purchasing I've realized that the inidividual rear speakers do not support AirPlay on their own. You can't really use them as a wireless AirPlay 2 speaker unless you are playing the same music in the other room on the soundbar obliviously unaware of how loud it is.

I bought the Yamaha YAS 109 from Costco and I have been impressed. It’s not a bad soundbar for the price. Do you think this soundbar is worth the upgrade? If you had $500 would you buy this soundbar or something else?

Great review, I get the feeling this is definitely middle of the road and has the potential to be a really good system but its a fair way off the mark but good value for the money. I would like to see Yamaha produce a top of the line, cost extreme soundbar system, like take the Nakamichi Dragon as a base and fix the failings of this system and improve them. For instance, I much prefer the battery powered Yamaha rears as I don't have the spare power sockets to plug two rear speakers in and even if someone does, often connecting power cables to rear speakers to near couch placement in open design concept lounges is not only a painful eyesore, they are potential trip hazards.

Great review I feel Yamaha is a day late to come to come out with a sound bar like this it's a nice sound bar but there are a lot cheaper options out there I just recently purchased one of the new LG sound bars S80QY a 3.13 and LG threw in the rear surrounds for free $$$$ so it's a 5.1.3 and it's got Dolby Atmos, DTS X and IMAX enhanced 🤩🤩 with the rear surrounds it becomes a 7.1 powerhouse with a booming base for less than $500.00 I could not be happier 🎉

Thanks for mentioning the Sennheiser surround speakers problem😆. Still wondering if they will release those. Kind of beats the purpose of the whole "Ambeo" gimmick.

Which is best for movie mode setting 1 ideal sound for characteristics design by yamaha or setting 2 sound characteristics for dolby atmos decoder thanks .

Do you know if the surround speakers would connect with other Yamaha soundbar systems? I currently have YSP-2700 soundbar & sub. Always wanted rear speakers but not paying crazy prices for the MusicCast 50 or 20s.

The Samsung q700b at the time was £599 and but I got it for £453 there are two additional types of rear speakers 2.0 or 2.0.2 they are priced at £180 to £250 so got the 2.0.2 since the bar is 3.1.2 making it a 5.1.4 the sound is very very good Dolby Atmos and DTS-x but Netflix and Disney plus only do Dolby Atmos prime and paramount plus do it in Dolby digital plus my TV has ARC and not eARC so there is no need for additional box to extract Dolby Atmos it's very good sound for the price I got it at

4.1.2 is a tragedy for a flagship soundbar system in 2023

X50A set vs Samsung 990c. Which one is better

Its unfortunate Yamaha has abndoned their flasghip soundbar market, they were supposed to make next big thing after YSP5600 , I was desperately waiting to upgrade from this. but TreuX A50 is No No now.

Does the bar simulate the rear channels if you don't have the rear speakers connected?

The Yamaha seems to be a good one for music, but just fine for everything else. The Samsung ones are cheaper and better, while the Single soundbar solutions are inferior on their own, but way superior with their accessories (at a higher cost of course). I’d love to see the more traditional brands apart from Klipsch really delivering on the Soundbar front. The Polk bars seem fine for their price but can’t attack Sonos, Bose, Samsung, Sennheiser and the Dragon at all. The mentioned traditional brands need to realize, that being „fine“ isn’t going to really push them in the soundbar market forward.

It's interesting that people keep comparing this to higher end models of competitors. Also kinda dumb how they made the 2 movie modes like a cheat code. Why not just set 2 movie modes? Even Movie 1 and Movie 2 would have been more obvious to more people.

As a new owner of this Soundbar Yamaha True X Bar 50A Set I have to say that I am very disappointed. The sound has no higher frequencies, just midtones and there is no possibility to set anything, even in the App (except to surround and subwoofer volume). 🤨 Just subwoofer works fine. Low frequencies are natural and powerful. My LG G3 has better sound than this soundbar... This is my experience, which I paid for €1000... 😵‍💫 Not a good job, Yamaha. Unfortunately, I have to say that this review is not honest.

I’m surprised you said the Bose ultra is better considering your classification of Bose as minor league.
