Yamaha TW200 Chain Adjustment: A simple process each Tdub owner should know! In this video, I show you the process of adjusting the chain on the Yamaha TW200. This is a pretty simple procedure that uses only basic tools. Within a few minutes you can have the chain adjusted on your Yamaha TW200.

Great basic video. I usually prop the rear after its tightened back down dust to spin the rear wheel and make sure the brakes are adjusted properly. Of course, since I'm using a DID Heavy chain instead of the stock Yamaha chain, I've only had to tighten it once :).

Hello Matt, I just purchased a new DID X chain for my TW200. Can I put the chain on without taking the front Sprocket cover off? Thanks Matt, keep up the great videos. James

Hey James! You can do whatever you want to really. Some folks just thread a new chain on to old sprockets and run it. If the bike doesn't have many miles I'd say you're okay. If it has more than 1,000, I'd change the sprockets too. I hope that helps!

Hello Matt, another question, I just got my TW200 broke in ( 1000 miles ) and took it on a 80 mile ride and was wondering if it’s normal for the chain to be noisey? I put a new Chain DID X ring on at about 945 miles and I keep it oiled up like it supposed to. Going 40 to 45 mph down the road I can hear it . Normal? I’m used to riding a large ATV with shaft drive so I’m not used to a chain. Thanks for the great videos. James

If you can hear it, it might need to be adjusted a bit more. That happens to mine all the time.

Thanks for the video. I need to adjust my chain. Is the 1 1/2 inch measurement from the top of chain to bottom of swingarm?

You bet, Thanks for watching! The measurement is the total deflection of the chain, top to bottom. I use the bottom of the swingarm to have a flat place to set the ruler. The measurement doesn't isn't measured against the swingarm, I just look at the side of the ruler or tape measure to know what the total distance is. Hope that helps!

Ranch is at 9,500 feet but haven't been able to find much online related to altitude thresholds for the TW ?

Hey Don! I haven't had any issues with altitude on mine yet. I have had someone from Colorado tell me that they run theirs at 12,000 with stock jetting. Some have recommended that the air/fuel mixture screw be set to 2 1/2 turns out but other than that I haven't heard any issues with altitude.
