Well, tell her I am sorry. If it comes to buying motorcycles and you can do it, I'm all for it.......I have three of my own and another 3 for the kids. Yeah, Salt Lake County is inner city for me. I am from a small town where pretty much everyone knows everyone and the common speed is below 20mph and folks stop their cars in the middle of the road to talk to each other. So that is inner city for me. 😂
You’re right Matt. It’s all about comfort leading to confidence. I did a little riding off-road yesterday on a single track road in the desert and I was totally comfortable on my TW200. . On the CRF300L that I had the 6th gear was awesome for keeping up with traffic on the highways. My dream bike would be the CRF engine and transmission in the TW200 frame - but that’s just wishful thinking.
Same for me John! I think if the Yamaha had an engine and trans similar to that CRF300L or even a 350cc and six speed Yamaha would have an even more popular motorcycle than what the TW already is.
I'm louder than any Tdub and just as unconventional. Riding over Modoc National Forest volcanic surfaces to camp where I could be under a lava ceiling or inside concrete culverts below any Interstate.
I agree with your points. I have owned both and currently have the TW. For anyone wanting to know what the off road comparison might look like, my CRF250L felt much heavier and it was, weighing in at 320, which is 42 pounds more. That extra weight really showed and added to the higher center of gravity. The CRF250L is less suited for off road. I also thought that 1st gear on the CRF250L is too high but better suited for the street. I'm not a tall guy either, only 5' 9", and the lower seat height of the TW works well for me. I just turned 70 so the low and slow TW seems just right. Love your videos.
Hey Tom!! Thanks for the comment and for the insight on the CRF's off road manner. I am planning on doing an off road video with both. This is really good to know before I go into it though!
Thanks Clinton! Looks like your channel is about music and motorcycles! I agree with your video on "Harley Families that Ride Together Stay Together!" I have my dad's Harley Fat Boy as one of my bikes. I love that machine and we have some great stories together. Thanks for chiming in and watching, I really appreciate it! Ride Safe and keep the videos coming!
@@MOBStreet83 thanks for checking out my channel. I have a bunch of tw and Honda 250 video I need to post. All my family rides and we do it off road and off road.
Nice job Matt! I agree with you and John Post. I’d love to ride a 300 cc, 6-speed TDub. It would probably be perfect. I do really like mine, but I sometimes wish I had the extra power. Most of the time, it’s enough. But sometimes I’d like that extra.
Thanks John! Yeah, the TW in a 300 or 350 would sell like no other! I am with you, I love my TW as well that's why I haven't held out waiting for a 300 or 350 to come out. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Another great video Matt. As usual, you make great content! I would love to see you do a riding comparison between the TW200 and the XT250. Also a comparison between the TW200, XT250 and the Kawasaki KLX230 and/or KLX300. With your presentation these would be killer comparisons!
I've had both bikes. My first bike was a 2013 TW200. Then, I purchased a 2018 Crf250l. I kept both bikes for over a year, alternating between the two. I came to the conclusion the TW200 felt more like a two wheel ATV. The pros for the TW200 is its lighter weight, lower seat height, better seat for a passenger, and better passenger pegs. It's a better trail crawler. Now, the pros for the Crf250l is more hp, more torque (I also put a 45 tooth rear sprocket on the Crf250l and that made a huge difference on the trails), more suspension travel, smoother suspension, better transmission, and a better instrument panel. The cons of the Crf250l is the weight of the bike. The cons of the TW200 is the lack of fuel injection and the heavy feel of the front end.
In both those cases CRF250 just because of the speed associated on thise roads. I wouldn't even take my KLX250 those places after I changed the gearing on it. But great video. Motorcycle Nation. Get out and ride whatever you got. Good job
I was actually thinking that the CRF would do even better with a bigger rear sprocket than stock. The only real down side to the CRF was the seat height and the comfort. I felt really cramped which was crazy. The engine and trans of the CRF were awesome though, I really enjoyed that side of it.
I been looking for good usable info on the tw200 & similar bikes for a couple of months. Though I found some info m, it was all mostly technical jargon & someone’s thoughts on it. You on the other hand are giving me real usable info. Thanks & hope you keep up the great job your doing on your videos. p.s. it is so cool that you live right downtown of GOD’s Country.
Hey Trent! I really appreciate it and I am glad you find the videos useful. Let me know if there is something specific you are looking for with the TW and I'll see if I can get it done. Yeah, where I live is pretty great! Thanks for watching!
One other thing 3 days ago I gave a guy a ride on my TW 200.. Picked him up in the desert walking he had the same to 250 Honda, battery died walking home. A year ago my battery died at Grand Canyon I was able to push it and it started and drive it home
@@MOBStreet83 I was wanting to get a TW but they are nowhere to be found around here. So I went with a 2017 CRF 250 that I found used. I really like it but my youngest son likes it so good that he has pretty much took it away from me lol.
@@MOBStreet83 thanks, that's not bad. I ended up getting a 300l rally just now but barely got to drive it so far so not sure what kind of fuel mileage it'll get yet.
@@jackle842000 no, the TW200 is way more comfortable. Riding solo and riding with a passenger. My wife prefers riding passenger on the TW200 over the CRF250L and my KLX230S ABS
@@MOBStreet83 that's interesting. I wonder how the tw200 compares to the xr150. I noticed the xr150 was much more comfortable feeling than the crf300l rally even. Seems stupid the better bikes can't get more comfortable seats to me. Better as in more powerful I mean. The TW is a great bike I'm sure and in it's own ways better than many others. I wish they had a bike built similar that's a 350 or so. Maybe even a 400. I wanted a TW but wanted more power to get down the highway so got the 300l rally and even that's barely skimming by for highway IMHO.
Thanks bro. I have the crf 250l. I like it a lot but I feel tired after I ride it. She's a heavy and tall bike... I'm looking for a Tdub but can't find any used one around here... One of these days I guess...
You bet! I like the power of the CRF250L but that was about it. I really enjoy my TW's and have three of them now. I ride one, my wife rides one and the kids ride the other one. They are great. Have you looked here for one? facebook.com/groups/357674911588248 This is the facebook classifieds for the TW200
I find I have more confidence in my riding when my feet can reach the ground . Had to lower my KLR 650 over 2 inches, still higher than my old TW , still manageable tho . Ride safe Matt.
I expect to lower my DR650SE one inch but I'ii still be tall on heavy. Recommend crop grow field visits to go discover farm girl urges. Close enough to holler at roadside atop her boring farm machinery.
The TW is all I need for the desert and in town driving. If I decide to go on a long ride on the street or highway the Harley Davidson is my choice of weapon. 58 years of motorcycle experience on dirt and street.
I recommend the Canyon Riders M/C. One President of which got my dual-sport off a mountain over 40 miles distant where other off-road commercial tow charge $1000 per mile. Who took $400 for expenses and said it paid for my red/yellow M/C Colors. Felt obliged to donate some bottled Southern Comfort for club use.
Now I wanna see a trail riding comparison.. I don't mean going fast like motocross or racing your buddy . I would like to see a hill climb between the 2 starting at the very bottom And just crawling up from a dead stop. Then I'd like to see a comparison of riding on game trails on the side of a hill. Then I'd like to see climb a hill, stop in the middle and turn around and go back down. My guess is going to be the Yamaha out does the Honda.
@@MOBStreet83 I don't think people really know the difference and how to use the 2 bikes. I'd like to see how slow you could ride a trail without pulling in the clutch and Stalling the bike out. Darting at the bottom of a steep hill that has some traction I'd like to see the bikes start out at a dead stop And without revenue engine and the RP m's up just start up the hill like you're at a stop sign. Also stop in the middle of a dirt hill that's steep and see which one is easier to turn around and get back down the hill. So the guy I gave a ride out of the desert claimed he could not push start it either Is that true. That TW has taken me up dirt hills that I can hardly walk up and going at a very slow pace. As long as that tire doesn't break loose that thing will go up as slow as slow can be. I think the Honda you would have to take a running start at some of the hills the TW can crawl up. And that's why you need to put it to the to the test. Because you are the man the the myth the legend. Happy trails bro
I didn't have one! Normally I'd have taken the Harley on both rides.....but we had to see which was more suited. I was actually really surprised on how much I enjoyed the ride on the TW. Just needed a bit more here and there in a few places.
On Interstate-5 my Tdub200 did a round trip from Canada to Central California ..... I.e, University of California Santa Cruz . Parking/camping in concrete culverts ( See Earth, Google Chrome )
