An absolute thing of beauty, i consider myself lucky to have lived at a time when they were raced to within an inch of their lives around the road races of Ireland ,thanks for making and sharing this.
Very, very nice. Thank you. I go back to TD2 and TR2's, never raced them but watched a lot of races with them in it. I simply love those 2-stroke racers!
I met a guy here in NZ that has a TZ250 5KE sitting in his lounge, its still in the white gel coat it came from the factory and has never even been started, he still has the spares kit it came with! We met because he also has a large collection of rare 2 stroke road bikes, including a 1990 TZR SP 3MA, and the almost mythical 1990 Kawasaki KR-1R, SP/C3A, and i have a 96 TZR SPR 3XV😄
In retrospect, I fully understand why the Europeans would bring up their youngsters through the ranks this way. As an old guy who started on 600s, then 1Ks, and after realizing I was missing some fundamentals set them aside and went to 250s. The overall racing education I received by doing that was game changing! LOVE ME SOME SMOKERS !!!🤘🏻
Nice video,it's always good to see a video of a real two stroke race bike. There's something about the two strokes, once you've ridden them your hooked for life! One of my mates has a 5KE,he used to race 125's in the BSB support class.Over here we get to see the 250's race in the Classic TT every year.
I was lucky enough to be allowed a few laps of a small UK circuit on one of these in the late 80's. I had a tuned YPVS so thought the TZ would be no problem. Wrong. Very wrong. That thing felt like it actually wanted to kill me. It was fantastic.
The addition of GoPro footage is a great touch especially on videos like this since you can get the viewer involved in the scene both on & off the track 🤙 thumbs up from me! (As always) 😂
Awesome to see a fresh TZ250 video up. Nice bike! (I am also a lucky and happy owner of a 5KE in working order). I had to laugh when I saw the 900ss in the background of your workshop. I have one of those too! How uncanny! They are my only two road bikes, so it’s not like I have a whole collection (I wish though).
OMG! Sir you have a track tool I would absolutely love to get my hands on. I am a big Yamaha 2 stroke race bike fan. I ride a Aprilia RSV4 Factory on track here in UK and would say it's the best thing on two wheels for track, but watching this I would say this sexy lil TZ250 (proper race bike too) would be awesome. Being a proper race bike though I bet it would need specialist servicing and and factory race parts are not cheap. Awesome👍🏻and thank you for sharing this👍🏻
Got an '89 Pepsi Suzuki RGV250 VJ21 in a shop near me in Tokyo for about $17K (¥2,000,000). I saw it 2 weeks ago when they let me in the back to see it as it was partially disassembled waiting on some parts, as you can imagine are difficult to find.
You'd be hard pressed to find ANYTHING that could run with a 250 GP bike on tight to moderately fast tracks. Those things go through corners like a cat on carpet!
@@adamroberts74 thanks for the reply rider !! I rebuilt the engine at 195.000, one of the ball bearing on the crank failed. I know, what a piece of shit!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🏍🏍 I had only just started to ride it again when I had a chance to get a 2001 st2 with only 3,000 miles and LOTS OF Ducati performance accessories!!! I mean EVERYTHING, 5600 $ Worth , full warranty and they took the 900 on trade 1700 bucks ! Loved the st2 ,my wife and I rode it to California from Pennsylvania 3 weeks on the road . Had 186,000 miles on it BEFORE WE LEFT!! After getting back, had some oil pressure drama and found a trans shaft needle bearing in the oil , bought a complete engine and put some miles on it , but I sold it when I found a 2011 multistrada. St2 had 205,000 miles on it. Put 52,000 miles on the multistrada before upgrading to a 2015 multistrada!that bike is working great, but I hit a deer this morning so she needs a bit of repairs 😆😆😆🏍 here is a video of my st2 going around!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-voMQ-4Xo-7Q.html BTW that is the SECOND time around!! And if you want, here is my video of my first multistrada!!
In 95, after a year of saving and scrimping i finally had enough to buy the bike i lusted after, a brand new 900SS Superlight Mk1.(I really lusted after a 916 but they were out of reach😄) It had a never ending list of faults and gremlins, some serious, (the front wheel bearing self destructed with 500lm on the clock, upon inspection, the shop said it had been assembled with ZERO grease!) it got so bad, that after 6 months, (most of which time it was in the shop) the dealer bought it back at full price. It made me wary of Ducati's for a looong time, thankfully the days of iffy build quality are behind them.
@@uhtred7860 sorry about your drama!!! I loved my 900ss rode it to California from Pennsylvania with my friend Dennis in 93 and it was great!! Traded it for 2001 st2 ,because I was looking for a bit more touring bike . LOVED MY ST !!!! Rode to California again 2 up with my wife for 3 weeks in 2016 !! I have a 2015 multistrada now that I really love !!! I am a big fan !!!! Even have a shirt that reads " THE BEST THING IN THE HARLEY SHOP WINDOW IS THE REFLECTION OF MY DUCATI " 😂😀😀😀😀🏍🏍🏍🏍🍺🍺🍺 here is a video of my st2 !!! Enjoy!! BTW THIS IS THE SECOND TIME AROUND!!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-voMQ-4Xo-7Q.html
@@adamroberts74 Makes me want to pull out my 02 and blow the cobwebs out. Love the RTM imola radiator, have a kit copy rad from Cristian in Italy to put on as she heatsoakes at 30C ambient. I would love those rims and the radial mounts!
I miss my Old TZ250 G model, I believe it was a 1980 model? powerband was from 8-12k lol not fun to ride at all. I do miss the smell of Blendzall thought!!!! excellent video Adam!
I love these little bikes, but l'm 190 lbs. I commute a CBR 600 rr, that would run alot better with your size rider. I love and have better luck with a 2stroke. I have only seen 2 of these in life. One set on a shelf in a Yamaha shop, still in the box for years.
Ive heard you guys say 'its out by 30 thus ' what does that mean? What is it in millimetres ? 30,000th of an inch is such a small area /thinner then a hair 🤷♂️
I had a TZ 350 that I rode on the UK streets. Totally illegal obviously. It used to surprise 750cc bike riders when they tried to race me. I took the fearing off to make it look more like a road bike.
The TZ250 was on sale to the public in the 1970s and 80s. It was intended only for racing, it was not suitable or legal to use on the road. It cost about one and a half times the price of the RD250 road bike, with which it shared some parts although it was very different in some ways (water cooling long before the RD250 got this, a dry clutch, and engine lubrication by adding oil to the fuel rather than by an injection system). There used to be 250 races in which all or most of the bikes were TZ250s, since there was no other 250 available to the public that could equal its performance. The engine gave in the region of 60bhp.
A better option would be the tyga fairing unles you have some 03+ bodywork just laying around. The carb orientation on the vj22 is also incompatible with airbox routing on a TZ.
Sadly soon all combustion carsand bikes including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!!! (BABBVEN LAWS AND TEBBVEN ORDERS)!!!!
wow, in the UK its simply a ban on new fossil fuel car sales past 2030 (bikes are exempt). that is what you get for voting in these loonies. Hope you enjoy walking
How to make vehicles run on alkali solution, ammonia solution, alcohol solution and other electrolyte: ELECTROLYSIS INSIDE FUEL FILTER, AND INSIDE COMBUSTION CHAMBER BY PLASMA FROM MULTI SPARKPLUGS, JUST NEED LITTLE HACK THE ELECTRYCITY BY USE SUPERCAPACITOR AND VARISTOR, FIRST MAKE ELECTROLYSIS INSIDE FUEL FILTER first electrolysis (PEM OR PLASMA), BECAUSE GRAFITY EFFECT WATER COME FROM UNDER FUEL FILTER EFFECT WILL MAKE PRESSURE SO HYDROGEN DON'T COME BACK TO FUEL TANK BUT RIGHT INTO INJECTOR, BY INJECTING BOTH HYDROGEN AND WATER INTO INTERNAL COMBUSTION CHAMBER CHAIN REACTION (EXPLOSION MUST BEEN HAPPENING INSIDE COMBUSTION CHAMBER) BECAUSE PLASMA SPARKPLUGS WILL MAKE ELECTROLYSIS+IGNITION , THIS MEAN ALL VEHICLES ACTUALY CAN RUN AND BURN ON WATER AND HYDROGEN.
