I have a '99, the last year. Have owned it since 2004 and have hardly done a thing to it. Really an engineering masterpiece. So sad that they jumped on the "could be mistaken for a Harley" bandwagon when they discontinued this and replaced it with the V-Star. Viragos actually had a style of their own.

I agree, just the right amount of chrome, nice sound, and great handling. I've had a 650 Vstar, felt under powered and a bit cramped.

I bought a 94 Orange and burgundy stripe Gas Tank. I test rode it. Coudnt believe the down , midrange grunt and sound of the aftermarket pipes Its 70deg V makes this extra torque. And gets from as low as 45 mpg to 70 mpg. With 41000 k I can see many trouble free fun miles.

Few months ago I picked up my 1st bike. It's a 93 Virago 1100, had under 20,000 miles on it. Absolutely loving it, as you said, it's the perfect bike for cruising. Tons of power, pulls hard even in 5th gear. I've put just under 600 miles on it so far, and am really sad it's starting to cool down here.

Im just gonna pick a 1995 1100 up and cant wait I think they are a good looking v twin and a lot lighter than a Harley. I'm getting rid of my Royal Enfield 350 classic 2022 because it is heavy for a little 350 195 kilos and after just one month of owning the bike I just think I may as well have a bike I really like. I'm 75 and was talked into the Enfield by one of my sons He thinks I should have an old mans bike that does 60 mph . I gave it a chance and I'm going back to V twins . Thanks for the nice video I'm in England where the rain doesn't seem to stop and summer lasts about 3 days

I think that you'll love it!! Its super agile, I think its light - its not as heavy as my GS850 that I ride all the time. Age is only a number, let the wind blow through your hair. If you only get 3 days to ride, better be on something you enjoy!! 😉❤

I had the xv 1100 from brand new. R reg. Purchased from ‘Dk motorbikes’ in England in 1997. Funny thing, it was a American import, Dk used to do that thing, sourcing bikes from around the world for the best price, I think it was called ‘parallel importing’ in the day. Anyway, the 1100 virago is a great bike, the first year I had it I toured Spain and Portugal on it. Great torque, runs out of steam before you would like though. Good handling bike, front brake let me know it was too hot going around the Pyrenees mountains , the disk and pads were glazed. Surprised my mates as to how well it went and handled. They were on bikes of around the time, XJ 750 secca and a Suzuki 650 katana. I would recommend the xv 1100. Very good Motorcycle .

Looks exactly like my 1985 virago 1100. Can hold 175km/hr feels like it's glued to the road. Crosswinds won't blow you off the road like other bikes. Heavy bike, don't leave it in the rain, the carbureators will clog. Good times... 😀👍

Thanks so much for stopping in and watching this video. I think its great that you have a 400, the good thing about moving up to a larger bike it gives you much more power, but is still quite easy to ride. I wish you luck on you search - this is a very fun bike to ride.

I had a 1999 XV1100, the last Virago. I absolutely loved that bike. I put 40,000 miles on it in 5 years. That was the bike bike that taught me how to work on and maintain motorcycles. I took a lot of pride in the way I kept it running. I had Cobra pipes on it and it sounded like an angry attack helicopter. Lol By the way, note to the videos author, that reserve fuel switch is just an electronic reminder. It doesn't function as an actual reserve switch. When the fuel hits the low level, it sends an intermittent signal to the coil and the bike "pretends" it's running out of gas. When you flip the switch to reserve, the signal to the coil is restored.
@AceCafeBikes
@AceCafeBikes 2 месяца назад

I just bought a '96 Virago XV1100. I can't wait till it gets warm enough to ride it, although I feel a little intimidated. I haven't been on a bike since the 1980s (too many kids depending on me not to get hurt) and even then it was a '72 Honda CL450 so this bike will be a pretty big jump.

@@AceCafeBikes So it was finally warm enough - barely. I love the bike but it's not running right. Sputtering and not idling well. I get the opinion that's relatively common for these bikes. I believe it's likely gunked up carbs or they're not synced right. There's a RU-vid video where the guy had the same issue and it was the rectifier, so I ordered one. No biggie. I'll replace that and get the carbs cleaned up and synced and I should be good to go. Despite the small issue I described, it has no problem when I crank the throttle. It's a Lear Jet compared to the CL450 I used to have.

Why as a father & bike rider would you put your own safety gear on, but take your child out in a lightweight anorak & no gloves etc. does your child deserve less safety gear than you the parent does?? If you’re going to take your kid out on the bike, get them some safety clothing too !!
@AceCafeBikes
@AceCafeBikes 2 года назад
Sorry to disappoint you - but that was his winter coat - he had gloves, just took them off as kids do and he was wearing a helmet. Sure, he is not wearing this for safety - but more for warmth. I rarely wear anything more than a helmet - I hate wearing gloves and jacket unless it is cold, does this make me irresponsible as well? This was a cold day in May. However, I do appreciate you stopping by and giving us a watch, oh, and for leaving a comment.
@andrewpaton8819

You can wear what you like mate it’s your skin, at the end of the day. But It’s quite likely your bike jacket would have given you far better crash protection than your kids winter anorak which is only designed to keep the rain and cold at bay. Wouldn’t have done him a lot of good if he was bouncing along the road. Ever heard the saying dress for the slide not for the ride. That came about for a reason. It’s all good fun until s**t happens. We all think it’s never going to happen to us until it does.

@AceCafeBikes
@AceCafeBikes Месяц назад
If you are going to ride long hours you will want something that is as close to your natural seating position as you can. You'll want you arms to be slightly bent with little pressure pushing towards your shoulders. You'll want your legs to be mainly straight down or slightly forward. The type of bike really isn't the question as much as how you feel on it. Having a back rest maybe a critical component to alleviate some weight from slouching. I love the enthusiasm, good luck picking one out. Happy riding!!
