I installed an aftermarket exhaust from China and re jetted the carb on the 2000 Yamaha Virago 250 xv250 !! Sounds awesome now!!!

I bought slash cut drag pipes on eBay a few years ago for my XV250 and made my own custom baffles. I basically copied the design of the cobra quiet core baffles and the back pressure is perfect, no re-jetting needed.

@@noobblet1996 I work in a machine shop so I had access to a lathe and a CNC mill with a 4th axis for drilling the holes for separate chambers but a dividing head would also work.

Great video. I'm thinking of doing the same to a Honda 250 magna variant but I can't find anyone to give unbiased advice. I worried the large pipes will kill the bottom end on a 250cc engine. Some loss is ok but is there a good gain at higher revs? What did you feel when you rode this bike? Keep up the good work.

Yes, the new pipes I put on are true dual exhaust while the original was a 2 into 1 exhaust.

@@rabidsquirrelgarage745 love these videos ,i got my exhaust from Ali express too about a month it took had to pay 30 euro for customs too, when i installed it i put a spring on crankcase pipe to protect it from heat of new exhaust cos as you said original was a dummy and didnt heat up,did you have a problem with this?

Also fitted on a pair of ebay slash exhaust, but was wondering if you came across the same issue of the breather tube getting seared by the new exhaust (back)? If so, did you re align the tube or leave it as is? I ended up exhaust wrapping both the pipe and the breather hose. Seems to be better than before but still can smell the hose if I have riden for the day.

I didn't have that issue. Sounds like you may need to reroute the hose.

i also put these exhausts on, i wound a piece of wire around a tube t o make a spring and put this around breather tube to keep it away from new exhaust,hope you understand what i mean

Did you clean out the carb before re-jetting? Apparently this is usually recommended when doing this.

It is an off market brand name, I don't even know what it is. I ordered it on eBay and it came from China. Just search eBay for xv250 exhaust and you should see plenty.

Hey rabbid squirrel I kept my pilot jet at 17.5 stock and main jet upgraded to 115 I have after market pipes same as your and k and n open air filter. I don't seem to be having any problems with 17.5 stock would you recommend me to change it to 20 or just keep it as is ? my vstar is a 2013 250.

If you have changed the intake(air filter) and exhaust I highly recommend you go to 115 for Main Jet and 20 for Pilot Jet. Mostly, pay attention to how hot the engine is (running lean) or how dirty the exhaust is(running rich). Both of these are harmful to you motor.

I’m having a hard time tuning these pipes, I’ve got a 115 main, 20 pilot, and I raised the needle with 2 washers. I’ve got back firing coming from the rear cylinder pipe if I remove the baffles and the front head pipe is turning brown like it’s rusting. With the baffles I can tune it but the air fuel screw is 2.5-3 turns out. Ideally I’d like to run the pipes without the baffles, can you tell me what I’m doing wrong here? Do I need to go up a jet to a 120 main and 22.5 pilot? I’ve heard that stainless steel turns brown with heat too, would you agree with that or is it running lean? Rich? I’m stumped here :(

I don't know if you still have the bike but I have done the same to my bike and I'm planning on running without baffles, I did put a 125 main jet and 22.5 pilot. Tuning it tomorrow, I let you know.

Hi sir! what will happen if i change exhaust the same as yours, and i don't do the reject? you don't adjust the air fuel adjustment screw after changing the jets? how did you order your exhaust?, i'm from las vegas.working on my virago 250. thanks in advance!

If you do not rejet, you will run lean and burn up the engine. You have to adjust the air/ fuel screw when you change jets or exhaust or intake. I ordered it on eBay. Just search "xv250 exhaust". There are several options.

I got it on eBay, it came from China. Just search eBay for "Virago 250 exhaust" and you'll see several opotions. Be warned though, it took almost 6 months for me to get the exhaust as it was held up in customs for some unknown reason.

I wouldn't be able to recommend unless I saw the exhaust and what other mods are on the bike. However, the jets I used may be ok for you and you can adjust the carb to match the exhaust.
