The pads can be found for cheap on Amazon:
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007...
Let me know if that link stops working.
This is everything you need to know about changing, or replacing the front brake pads on your motorcycle. This particular motorcycle is a Yamaha V Star 1100, but the concepts can be applied to pretty much every disk brake style motorcycle. Its a pretty simple fix, and you can save a lot of money doing it yourself.

When you say 'grabby' is it more of a chugging feel? Like it will grab tight for a second and then loosen up for a second, and then grab tight again. For an overall shudder as you brake quickly? That would be more of a rotor issue. Rotors can warp. Its more common on cars, but ive seen it happen with bikes too.

How do the pads just sit in there without moving? No clip to keep them in place specially while reinstalling?

You should have shown where to squeeze the vise grips on on the pistons

I always use the old brake pad as to not damage the piston

Would this be the same for a v star 650?

Will a front caliper of a 2007 vstar 1100 fit in a 2006?

I know the 1100 has twin rotors, but is the process basically the same for the single rotor 650s?
@JerryRigEverything

Shawn Raker Yes. All rotors and brake pads are pretty darn similar.

What I'm not understanding is how the brake pads are being pressed off of the disc after you release the brakes. Or do they rub along the disc the whole time?

The pads can be touching however there is no force applied so no braking or wear of the pads.

was the baby sleeping....you were so goddamned quite. thx though for the vid. USE A C-CLAP for the brake piston retract(but you can hand press these in some times)

My front brakes occasionally feel grabby. I inspected everything from the brake handle on down. I checked the brake pads and they look fine, I even pulled them out and checked them again. The bike is awesome aside from this, and I really would like to get this fixed. Has anybody else encountered this and found out WHAT the issue is? Thanks for all comments!

Guess you have figured this out by now..😅 But for anyone else seeing this. Probably worth checking the pistons and piston seals. That was the issue with my grabby brakes.

Should be pretty darn near the same.

Jammer niet helemaal een duidelijk filmpje. Je had beter een stap voor stap filmpje kunnen maken
