2021-06-19 Yamaha XT 250 3Y3 - the beauty in the shadow of a legend
After a break of around 10 years I pondered in 2017 about to buy a motorcycle again and finally bought one. I had a lot of motorcycles before and thought about what one to buy. Of course it had to be a classic bike and I thought „which motorcycle was pure joy to ride and gave me the most fun?“ and it was the lightest, weakest but most reliable of all, the Yamaha XT 250 3Y3. So I’ve bought one, it was built in 1983, exactly like the one I had before. In March 2018 I started the project to refurbish it and in summer 2018 it was ready to get on the road again.

Glad to see you out enjoying the bike! You did a great job refurbishing it and it looks like it rides great. Do you see a lot of people where you live riding motorcycles? They are very popular here and you see them everywhere - sometimes one person, sometimes a couple and sometimes whole bike clubs with many, many riders.

Hi Kevin, nowadays there are so many motorcycle riders here one couldn't count. As I've started 42 years back there were just a few in the district. Still many of them greet each one another while driving by, it comes from a time where people showed their attitude to ride motorcycle but as today it's just a hobby it became senseless. The Yamaha still runs great and I'm glad to have refurbished it. ... We are in a heatwave here so when I drive it's like air swimming, quite refreshing. Have a great week ahead, Christian.

@@artfantasies It's a heat wave here too! We are going to have a very hot summer ahead. We had a lot of rain in May so now the heat and humidity are just miserable but summer has only begun! Ugh! Plus all that rain has really grown the mosquito population and these @#$# Texas mosquitos will rip a limb off, LOL! Have a great week ahead!

Toll restaurierte Yamaha. Ich habe mir alle deine Videos dazu angesehen. Eine Frage: Was ist das für ein Tankdeckel? Ich suche für meine 3Y3 auch einen ohne Schlauch und ohne Schloss.

Der Tankdeckel stammt noch vom alten verrosteten Tank, der davor montiert war. Ha ha, dieser verrostete Tank ist der Urvater aller nun erhältlichen neu gebauten Tanks, da ich ihn extra zum Nachbau versendet hatte, um einen neuen nachgebauten zu bekommen. Leider weiß ich nicht, von welchem Modell der Tankdeckel stammt, ich nehme an von einer XT 250 der Baujahre 1979 - 1980 oder einer DT. Aber es sind etliche Tankdeckel im Internet zu kaufen, ich suche immer auf ebay dot uk , dort hat man die größte Auswahl.

Hi Jenny! The Yamaha is a lot fun to ride because it's a light weight with a very good chassis which gets never overwhelmed by any situation. Bought a GoPro so I thought it's time to make a driving video just for the joy of it :) Wishing you a wonderful week, love and light, Christian.
