Nice little video - Cush drive inserts...I've done this for 9 years. I've found it's way easier to ;- 1, slightly grease the hub and rubbers. 2, then place your cut tube patches over the top of the 4 voids between the cush rubbers...3, then push the sprocket carrier into place which then pushes the patches correctly down into the grooves and either side of each sprocket carrier 'leg'. This stops the patches getting misaligned in the slots and stops the sprocket carrier from being 'held out' from its correct seating position by too much patch rubber.....Safe travels buddy ;-)

Original chains on these are not much chop. Mine kept stretching and at 18k finally jumped the rear sprocket on a long ride. Good aftermarket one installed and at 40k and hardly an adjustment. Not sure if the premature chain stretching contributes to the premature wear of the cush drives. Thanks for the update!

Yeah mine was the original chain and I did adjust it but seem to stretch dunno it was a bit weird

Brilliant idea to use old tubes, interested to see how long they last.

Added the shims on the weekend. What a difference

Yeah make it a more positive ride doesn't it. Much better feel to the bike more of a direct drive. Cheap too!

@@dirtbikeadv way smoother. I suspect the Cush drive wear drastically contributes to chain and sprocket wear.

@@DanielSmith-vp5vn Yeah spot on my shims lasted quite well. Doubles the life of the cush rubbers

Great video, thanks!!!. What do you notice, when does cush drives are worn out?. Greetings from Mexico!!.

Hi GP the first thing you'll notice is a jolt when you back off the throttle and when u take off again. This is the slop in the rubbers. There can be a bit of juddering at low revs as well which is the cylinder firing but there is no give in the cush drive. New rubbers or shims and its all a bit smoother Regards Steve

Is it worth buying a 660 tenere as a 1st adventure bike owner. Rising fire trails and road in the Hunter Valley NSW

Hi Mate, yeah they are a great option if U have riding experience already. If your new to riding motorbikes they are a bit heavy for your first bike. Go to a. Honda 300 or a Drz 400 maybe then progress. If U have riding experience then yes they are a great reliable easy to live with bike. They are also not the heaviest ADV bike in the market coming in under 200kgs dry. Great bang for buck! Regards Steve

@@dirtbikeadv Hi Steve it’s the air injection system,it injects fresh air from the air box directly into the exhaust port to aid burning off unburnt fuel it’s to aid emissions, but it makes your engine pop and fart quite a lot when you run pipes and other mods, mine runs much smoother without it,there’s several ways to delete it,full removal or just blanking off the pipes,a quick search on the forums will help you out I’m sure.👍🏻
