Get a new Yamaha while you can bro! I got a 21 Raptor 700R-SE this yr. Hope to get a '22 YFZ450R next summer! Forever machines ..never sell! #Maxima #Fox #Fordtrucks
I own a Yfz450r fuel injected and its mean as hell! Went from ridn Yz250 2 Strokes and am very happy to make the switch. Both Yamaha and Honda are badass though! Top 2 for sure
We all know Yamaha is faster, but the Honda is more reliable. I've one both, and 2 YFZ 450's. Current YFZ is Modded. Its a beast, but my Honda never needed as many repairs :D
Absolutely love Hondas and I think both of these bikes are equivalent for everyday riding but on the track all you need is a chip and exhaust for the yfz to be track ready on race day where as the TRX you need a cam job to be power equivalent for race day and the suspension adjustment capabilities on the YFZ is all there but for the most part stock-for-stock those bikes are pretty equal for riders that don't know any better jumping from one to the other
i’ve owned both yfz 450 special edition it was yellow and a black honda trx 450, both had little work done on them and the yfz would keep up with with my trx 450 for 20 30 yards after that trx would pull away. my honda trx 450 was a mean machine
I've owned both a 04 YFZ GNCC set up and currently own a 14 450ER GNCC set up. The YFZ is hands down a lil faster. Especially the carb models. The TRX is a beast once you cam and port it. Plus it simply last longer. Both great bikes either way you look at it. I would own both if I could afford it. 😎😎
I think it all depends on where you ride. Where I ride. TRX models are king due to the WOT desert racing. The Ezra length of the TRX helps with the tougher terrain. But at the truck the YFXs have the advantage
@@prestonbailey4450 I don't know about the king but I'm sure they're pretty good I'm sure the Yamaha would smoke it anywhere though I drove a Yamaha 450 in the desert and it was comparable to my 700 Raptor so don't count them out of the desert
Depends on these factors: 1. Rider ability 2. Modifications/aftermarket Stock for stock...Yamaha comes out of the box as the faster machine. (P.S. - I ride a tricked out 04/05 Honda 450R), but the Honda responds to modifications better. With the right mods on both machines...it really is equal though. All quads in the 450 displacement will plateau at a certain level and all be very comparable.
From factory the TRX450R is held back by the restrictive exhaust and intake, hell the exhaust is so stopped up it's literally less than 1 inch in diameter and under the air filter is 10 layers of very fine mesh screen. After uncorking the exhaust, intake, and proper jetting it becomes a completely different quad when done right.
Id buy YAMAHA. They try alot harder to be the best with the yfz450. Nice they make a mx model. A gncc model. N a job blow budget model. Thats just unheard of.
My stock 09 trx keeps up with a bored 15' yfz 450. I like the feel of the trx, the yfz opens up really aggressively. But the trx has a sweet gearing and feel. Suspension is better on the yfz, but balls to the wall hanging on is more doable on the trx.
All the Japanese bikes are basically the same but if you go back 40 years until now...Yamaha IMO has built the best overall bikes. Kawasaki, then Honda, the Suzuki. We are splitting hairs though.
My friend has an 2005 TRX450 and it smokes my 2010 YFZ450, I’m not proud to say it, but the things an absolute monster they don’t make em like they used to👌🏽
The only way to see is 4 run’s,Do 2 run’s then riders swap quads and do 2 more. A lot of the time the rider isn’t as good as the other. If he isn’t shifting on time or putting his body weight in the rite spot, that will effect on the machine. . Also, you don’t do a circle course, just a straight up drag.
Somene mentioned the Yamis faster. That depends which Trx your going up against. The kick start honda 04-05 is 10.5 :1 compression. 06 on up that chaged with the ER model electric start honda. Its 12:1 Whole nother puppy as they say. I have an 08 big bored to 477cc. Hold the F on. Is all I can say. I like them all still.
The YFZ450 should take the Honda ..not by much tho! Yamaha Is better all around machine ..hence why it's still around today. I do miss new Honda & Kawasaki 450cc quads on showroom floor ! Would buy a new Kawi 450 in a heartbeat. Sport quads for life! I own 2 Yamaha quads YFZ450X & Raptor 700R-SE.
I have a stock trx 2014 last summer I have race a 2019 yfz with dasa full exaust and a chip and we are dead even but my trx barely start to pull on him after 3 Gear.
The TRX 450 was discontinued this shows that Yamaha is the only brand that’s left and they’re here to stay. If I were to get a quad it would be a raptor 700
Johnny C 2015 I believe was when they discontinued it might have been 16 they still have the TRX 250 but have not made the 450 because the market shucks this new crop of young guys would rather play video games I guess and the price tag on these beasts don't help either they continue to make the Yamaha cuz Yamaha was leader on the track and now because of lack of competition leader of the pack
@Vintage ATV & CYCLE Someone has clearly never owned a trx. It's no hidden fact they're easier to get power out of, last considerablely longer and are much easier and cheaper to rebuild.
dasatrx450r nah I’m far from wrong the 04/05 trx only made 33hp and had a top speed of 70mph the 06-14 Trx has a top speed of 72.9 mph and has 38hp. Uni cam has a strong holeshot power but the yfz handles better and mid to top end yfz all day. The carb model yfz will pull 73mph stock and they come a tad lean from the factory and could use the zip tie mod switch the main jet do the zip tie mod and cam mod for a technical bone stock machine you’ll see 75mph and crisp throttle response. I’ve owned every 450 I’ve been in the 450 game since 08 I’ve had two trxs and 6 yfzs and the yfz is definitely faster stock for stock even with the big 3 yfz is faster. Get some knowledge first before you throw a opinion out there fan boy
dasatrx450r let’s be real the two best 450s are the ktm 450 sx and the 08/09 ltr 450. The ktm pumps out 52hp to the wheels while a quick air box lid removal baffle delete and cherry bomb will give the Ltr 50.9 hp to the wheels. By far in the straight line or on the track the ktm and ltr are much more superior then a Honda the suspension alone classifies then as a true race ready bike it would take thousands for a Honda to compete with either
mossow71 talking in stock form yes... but as I stated earlier modified no...... reliability absolute no.. why you see loads of Honda at every real race 🤷🏻♂️
