One of the most basic axioms in the sales realm is that if you want to sell something, you have to communicate to the prospective buyer the features and benefits of the item that you're selling. For example, "Mr. Buyer, this horn has a large bell, AND WHAT THAT DOES FOR YOU IS, it darkens the tone slightly, provides more feedback to the player, and spreads the sound more evenly throughout a big room rather than sending it in a straight line." What's the point of mentioning a feature if you're not going to explain what kind of benefit that feature offers? What does that Z-brace do? What does the "multi-bore" accomplish? I see ads for trumpets all over the place. Everyone loves to mention the features, but they hardly if ever, mention the benefits of those features. So why am I supposed to buy it? Just because EM likes it? Different things appeal to different people. If you can't tell someone if a horn has the kinds of benefits they're looking for, why should they buy it? It's really frustrating trying to figure out which trumpets to try. It's like everything's a big secret.
