I sat on a R7 at a dealership last week, couldn't test drive, but fell in love instantly. Seriously considering buying one later in the year, really appreciate these videos and cant wait to see what you have planned for this beauty.
@@paulnolan6866 Most likely is the practicality of the R7 compared to the R6 in most situations, minus the track day side of things. Even then however some might make an argument you can still have balls of a time on the track with an R7. In my humble opinion that is
I was wondering if the bike would be able to handle highway’s acceleration and speed, and thanks to this video I’ve noticed it can. You’ll be big one day bro, just keep up the good work, thank you for the video from Spain ‼️
Good video! This is what we need to see, day to day normal Joe riding. They keep showing all of this track footage and 90% of riders will be riding this on the street.
One of the issues I had to face with my MT-07 was the highway winds it's good to see the overall aerodynamics and windshield of the R7 does a brilliant job. I hope to reserve one soon here in the UK as it releases in October. Looking forward to seeing more of the bike keep it up. 👍
Had an FZ-07 as well and I’d agree. The highway was brutal. Yet it was flawless in the city and on the twisty back country roads. Only thing it needed was stiffer suspension.
I had a KTM Duke 890 R and fun bike but on the freeway or windy roads along the ocean I was getting blown around like crazy. I thought it was me til I heard from a person whos 260lbs that they got blown around as well. Naked bikes not great for highway riding, Sucks naked bikes stuck in city unless you want to be leaned all the way over to go straight
My ‘21 MT07 (naked version of the R7) easily does 100 on the highway, I have power passing power in every gear. I am totally jealous of the windscreen, it’s weird I almost feel naked against the wind on my bike lol
I'm glad you're opting for the safe-break-in period. If viewers can't wait for that, then they should buy and damage their own R7. Great editing/pacing btw.
I don't think it's the "way" to break in an engine keeping a constant load/rpm. I always heard it is important to vary the load on the engine. You can twist the throttle all the way, just don't redline it :p Looks like a great bike for the street tho ! Ofc it's underpower compared to a R6, but most people can't event exploit there r6 at half its potential (except on the highway)
@@4dr13n07 that's right. Varying RPM and load is one of the main staples to breaking in any engine, so going on long steady stints on the highway is not great. Honestly, the way engines are made nowadays, you should ride how you normally ride and not think too much about it (other than keeping constant RPM). The engine is going to break in to your riding habits
Very nice R7 it is awesome! I been looking at alot of bikes lately & seeing your videos has made me want one as second bike. I ride a black 2020 Honda CBR650R. Please in future do an ambience video with the microphone placed under the seat for the engine & exhaust note to be heard.
Awesome bike! I’ve got a 2020 R3, Im definitely keeping it. My Zero Gravity windscreen just shipped after waiting 10 weeks. All my homies ride 600’s and are hating on R7. I think it’s perfect for a street bike, can’t wait to score a pre-owned one when they’re more available. Hope you ECU flash it and do some upgrades.
Dude I want an R1 so badly but there’s none in my state. There’s 2 R7’s but they’re hella overpriced. Saving up to pay w/ cash upfront hopefully before next summer starts, so let’s see. Thanks for the vid it’s helped me out a bit
How is the all around torque of the r7? If it has the same engine as the mt/fz07 then it should have similar Dino figures which with a near consistent torque throughout the rev range
it will be pretty much identical to the mt07, it may be slightly different since it has a different ecu but i doubt it. its got a lot of torque down low and linear power throughout the rev range
@@MattMotoyt does the engine behave similarly as the MT07? I felt that the powerband is really at the mid range at around 4-6k rpm and it didn’t really want to be revved to redline. It will be interesting if the R7 would also have the same tuning as typically sport bikes like and need to be revved really high.
If you look at the 2021 MT-07 and R7 from the side they both use the same stock exhaust which means you can buy an aftermarket MT-07 exhaust and it’ll fit perfectly on the R7.
Thanks for mentioning your height. I have an mt-07 and i wanted a bike that can go on the highway. But I was worried that this would be too small for me. We are the same height, so maybe I will just go for it.
@@maman8588 absolutely! when i say longer rides i mean it will get uncomfortable if you ride it for 2-3 hours nonstop, I ride it 30 minutes to work almost everyday and have no issues
@@MattMotoyt Yamaha didn't disappoint as on this one What a truly amazing bike it may not be as fast as an R6 but it's built for something else well done. Anyway GoodLuck with you channel man hope that someday your channel is gonna grow bigger.
I subscribed cause I'm very interested in this bike. I'm thinking that the riding experience on the r7 might be similar to the fzr600r that I owned and regret selling everyday. It definitely wasn't the fastest bike in the group but I could ring that things neck in the twisties and it was so fun. My fz1 is a great all around bike but doesn't come close to the fun factor.
it is slightly slimmer than the R3 in person, not too much though. It is a little heavier and taller as well. Its very manageable though, still weighs less than most 600's and 1000's
Hey bro can you make a video of the how much it cost you to buy the bike (you don’t have to go into specifics on your financing) and if the dealer had any mark up over the MSRP.
People misunderstand this bike. Don’t think R6 replacement, instead think R3/MT-03, R7/MT-07, and R1/MT-10. The R6 is of another era and for another purpose.
It's meant to be an all around sport bike. Street it, track it, daily it that motor is good for it all. Just isn't a high speed demon but it pulls pretty good.
Bonjour matt moto ses trop bien ta moto elle et jolie vert comme un pomme vert ses des mon gentille ses pas méchant que je dire le paysage et trop jolie merci beaucoup de me faire voire votre vidéo
I have a cbr500r and you can't drag a knee on it unless you want to put more than half of your ass off the bike and I ring the guts out of it and I'm quicker than most people on 600s and 750s on curvy roads but I feel like the r7 would be the perfect bike for the road and track and I could smoke out a lot of the bigger bikes for where I live because it's so curvy and it would be the perfect size and power especially if you know how to ride.
@@yamahomie_8144 hopefully they do man I would buy it in a heartbeat, I had a 2017 MT09 bike was super fun, I upgraded to an R1 and felt it was too much for the streets very uncomfortable too, so now I have a Super Duke love the bike just will love to have a super sport to go along with it I just don’t want another 1000cc.
Here in Germany people go on the Autobahn on 125cc bikes, so anything above that can go on the highway, it's just the matter of how well they work there. 125's are no fun on the Autobahn, but wind above 130km/h is crap anyway. Question, what revvs does the R7 do 60-80 in 6th gear? Like does it rev "too high" for cruising in higher speeds?
enginebraking and breaking engines in are two different things tho. Enginebreaking is when you go off the gas and the engine slows you down. Mayb it was just a mistake
How long have you been riding, and what do you want from the upgrade. Generally spoken the r6 only makes sense if you want to go on the track, becaus you wouldn't really use any bit of the bike on the street, unless you're riding illegal. Which we all don't want :-)
Two completely different bikes. I don’t care what anyone says but R7 is comparable to a Ninja 650 and R6 is a 600cc supersport. Coming from an R3, I say it’s time to step into the 600cc gang!
@@Daniel-dj7fh I’ve been riding for about a year and a half and I’m really interested in upgrading because I feel like I’ve used every bit of my bike and I want something more exciting, I’ve never been to a track lol but it sounds like something I would enjoy
oh yeah I know! When I ride im usually switching through the gears to keep the revs constantly changing, im just not focusing on that when I'm talking in the video
mine does not, its an optional addition on the bike from Yamaha, unfortunately with the pre order I wasnt able to put any of those options on it, i will be ordering it as soon as its back in stock though
@@MattMotoyt The 2021 MT-07 and R7 have the exact same exhaust. You can buy a MT-07 exhaust and it’ll bolt right onto the R7. Soon Revzilla, Cycle Gear, etc. will change listing titles from “MT-07 full exhaust” to “MT-07/R7 full exhaust”
