He fought evenly with admirals like Aokiji and only had a problem with and lost to Akainu, a guy strong enough to face the emperor's of the sea. If Akainu blew half of WB's face and gave him a hole in chest (two in the anime) what makes you think he wouldn't be able to make a donut out of Ace? Akainu's firepower is insane.

Nah, Blackbeard was a powerhouse who kept his head down for years until he got what he needed. When Ace, who has beaten up grown men half to death with his bare hands as a child, pointed out Blackbeard could had broken his neck...Yeah, Ace was a monster but he damn well realized he's facing another monster.

Blackbeard is the definition of not playing fair. What makes him scary is that he'll do whatever it takes to win to the point where even Shanks considers him a serious threat. Everyone in the series who has underestimated him thus far has paid for it dearly regardless of what side they are on.

are you kidding me?????? haki was introduced waaay before that, it was right after enies lobby when shanks met whitebeard(officially) & even before that, it was introduced twice the first chapter where shanks saved luffy the second time where zoro fought mihawk (mihawk was using haki btw) the third time is where mihawk & shanks met (the weather changed immediately once shanks realised that mihawk had no intentions to fight)
