Very nice, do you know if the version you are playing can be found in notation on the internet, I’m watching hard but can’t see what few notes you begin with, thank you
Semper Fi Brother, Are you playing a Bb fife on the video, I am wanting to practice this song but can’t figure out the open finger position for first note or two. Am trying to learn fife for something constructive to do. Hope all is well Sgt Ron Black, US Marine Ret - disabled. Vietnam
It is a compilation of multiple versions of yankee doodle. The first is from Cushing's 1808 Fifers Companion, the 2nd is the same at a faster tempo, and the 3rd version is from Elias Howe's 1861 Fife and Drum instructor for the US Army and Navy. Fun fact: I am currently doing a deep dive in the French fife and drum duty music. I am learning the beats from the French 1754 ordinance for Drums. I am planning to attend Waterloo in 2025 as a drummer with the French 9e Light Infantry.
@bluegrassbanjo5744 For the record, y'all wrote the song to make fun of us yokels but we took it away from you, turned it into an anthem and won the war to boot. Next?
