One issue we are going to have is, the Orioles need pitching more than we do, and they have more/better assets to trade than we do. Instead of getting into a bidding war against Baltimore, I would prefer the Yankees focus on infielders. We don't need superstars. We need league average 1st, 2nd, and 3rd basemen, and possibly a catcher known for controlling the running game. Baltimore needs 2-3 starting pitchers, and a replacement for Kimbral. Like Jason said, the Yankees have more starting pitching than we have rotation slots. We may have some of our bullpen pieces right here in-house. Cole, Rodon, and Stroman will be starters. Gil, Nestor, Shmidt, Poteet, and whoever from the minors are flex slots. Gil could be an intriguing bullpen piece, as we lack a big K arm in the pen. His blowup vs Baltimore, combined with his innings issue might make that decision for him. As a high-leverage short late-innings pitcher, he could use his 4-seam, power-change, and shove max effort. If he's effective...(and I think he will be), he could share a closer role with Holmes. In extra innings for example a strikeout pitcher would be preferable to a ground ball specialist.

Baltimore doesn't need 2-3 starting pitchers I think as long as Corbin Burines is healthy G-Rod is a cable enough 2. I do think that Baltimore needs a starters but it's proarbly more like what Philldepha has in Spenser Trumbal. I liked to see Baltimore get a starter because I'd rather see G-Rod as a 3 than a 2 but I think they will be okay with the 5 they would have after the deadline plus Cade Povich in a flex role

I have been a Yankee fan since Thurman Munson was catching.. (sadly, he passed away months after I started following them as a young boy... ) In all that time I have found that the Yankees are linked to EVERYONE... and this year, I'm sure they are too.. even outfielders (which we are well overstocked on)... because.. We're the Yankees.

Thank you for the update, Jason. Stories like these always break before the trade deadline. There are going to be a limited number of starters that will be available at the deadline.The Dodgers and Orioles are both World Series contenders that are in need of rotation help and have the farm systems to close the deals. Flahrety is a top-flight pitcher with post-season season experience. The Dodgers aren't resting their post-season hopes on Glasnow. I have read several stories and blogs that have the Dodgers in on Flarhety and Fedde. Different stories have the O's in on Crochet. Who knows what the actual facts are. Whatever it is, the price will be steep. Do the Yankees have the assets to make a play for both of these pitchers? I don't think so, so who to throw your hat into the ring for? My thought that it would be Crochet, Adding by negation would hurt the Orioles, and I would immediately stop Crochet starting efforts and put him in the pen. I think that a package that the Yankees would have to put together to get Crochet would look like Hampton (3), Lombard Jr,(6), Messinger (21), and Lange (30).

Do the Yankees have the assets? They are worth 8 billion. The most valuable team in ALL Sports. As they have proven they get what they want. Doesn't mean every player can or wants to play in NY,but $$ never is the reason that would stop them .

Yankees are doing well this year. But not so much against the Orioles. The Orioles are the team Yankees need to beat! Plus, Hope Jasson Dominguez does not keep getting injured. Need Jasson healthy. And I think Soto will come back to Yankees even if they do not win the world series. At end of year, I would sit down with Soto and Boras immediately and ask what money it will take to get him to stay on the Yankees! Great channel Jason!

My suggestion to the Yankees is to make the moves well before the deadline. If you wait till the deadline, a lot of players will be gobbled up by other teams. SO CASHMAN & HAL STEINBRENNER, YOU BOTH NEED TO GET MOVING NOW !!!!!!!

@Anthony__420 At this point, there is no incentive for sellers to trade their assets. They will be able to get the highest value closer to the deadline. This time of the year all of the front offices are working on their draft boards. I don't truly see any big moves being made until after July 5th.

I know that the guys will snap out of this ugly funk that they're in, it's just a little unsettling to see the offense and the starting rotation starting to slump as a group suddenly. There's a lot of season left to play however and the upcoming all star break should be a great opportunity for them to pause and regroup.

Hello Jason. With the Chicago guy his durability should be scrutinized we don't need another player who can't stay healthy. The other guy might be better. Must be careful when selecting who to trade for. We need a lot of upgrades especially bullpen and infield defense and power. Might then sooner than later. Bring up Durbin kid if he's still hitting. Sometimes these injuries can answer some questions before trading for anyone. Plus SOTO doesn't seem to be healthy I hope his inflammation is more serious. AKA. Yankee Mike.

This Yankee team is not designed for a 162 game season. They are an old team with up to 4 holes in the infield. First base, Third base, Catcher, and then there's Torres who freezes more than Joe Biden and most of the time has the same type of energy. Then add a closer who's not really a closer cause he does not do well against good teams. I believe we will see another repeat of 2023 when they have a great first half and fade by July/August.

Yes 2 quality arms needed. Our pen is not that impressive. Corner infielder who can hit please. Our 6 thru 9 hitters don't scare any team. If we don't make moves soon, we'll be wc and have to get really lucky in post season

I'm looking forward to when the Yanks get Jones and Dominguez in the lineup. That could be when the Yanks become legit WS contenders. I think what we saw with the Dodgers and Orioles, the Yanks have work to do. Its better to have these games, and go to the WS than to have a "perfect" regular season, and lose in the playoffs.

Crochet is the real deal, but he can be had. If the White Sox are asking for Warren or Hampton, Cashman has to absolutely pull that trigger. I’d even throw in a second-tier prospect like Lombard or Arias, if that’s what it takes. Crochet is a legit ace and among MLB leaders in strikeouts this season (12.6 Ks per 9).

They gave up the farm for Verdugo of all players. Red Sox got three good pitchers in that deal. The Yankees could use Greg Weissert right now his ERA is 2.87 and Richard Fitts is 22-15 and has a 3.68 ERA CAREER and is tearing it up in AAA

If Cole pitches even one more inning (he was only at 62 and could have gone 80), he saves an arm and maybe didn't even use the worthless Maranaccio. That game was very winnable but Boone's poor decision cost them dearly.

@@brandonmoore7497 I didn't say managing is easy. I said the Yankees have a poor one. He makes poor pitching decisions and makes up poor lineups. He chooses additional at bats for Judge and Soto over additional RBI opportunities. He needs to move them both down one spot in the lineup. Games are won by scoring more runs, not by getting a few more at bats per year.

Just 1 loss. Yanks won easy Tuesday,lost xtra inning tossup Wednesday and lost big Thursday. No Judge cost them Wednesday and series win. Yanks like ALL teams have a few weak spots. They will fill them by trade deadline. Yanks are significantally better than O's especially in rotation and penn. Effross & Trivino coming.
