Hi Matty, for your oil/grease grooves look up that young, I think Philippino machinist who works off the floor with the most basic of tools. He produced an attachment for the tool post on his lathe that while the chuck turns the work, via pair of beveled gears, home made, and a Conrod like an engine would use, the tool gets moved in and out of the bushing producing a perfect "X" groove that doesn't exit the bush thereby keeping the oil inside the bush. I'll see if I can find the link. Otherwise, thanks for posting. Greetings from Canada's banana belt. 👍🍌🇨🇦🕊️🇺🇦🤔🇦🇺🤞

I've never liked pins with grease holes in them. They always break at the grease hole whether it's halfway through or all the way. I try to convert to greasing the bushing bore. I've converted many pins to external threads on one or both ends because I've seen too many with cross bolts or end bolts shear off the bolts so the pin comes part way out. It also helps to keep the flanges from spreading. The machines aren't designed for sideways pressure but the operators never seem to know that.

Nice job Matty - Would moving the greasing system to the arm, by drilling thorough the arm so the grease was injected in the centre between the bushes be a viable alternative to the hollow pin?
@MattysWorkshop
@MattysWorkshop Год назад
Gday, yes that would work well but the grease nipples would probably more vulnerable to getting damaged, cheers

why not use brass/bronze
@MattysWorkshop
@MattysWorkshop Год назад
Gday, To buy the brass or bronze was out of the budget, the young fella who owns this little digger is 16yo so trying to keep the cost to an absolute minimum, Thanks for watching, Cheers

Hi Matty, here's the link I was talking about. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Fd_Q9gCyUMM.html It's over an hour long but replaced about four other videos. Interesting device. Ron.
