Both front hubs on my Yanmar 4x4 tractor were leaking. A little leaking is probably not a big deal. Just keep the oil level correct. But mine started bleeding like crazy so It had to be fixed. I recorded the assembly part just incase you were wondering what the job involved.
I got my parts from Hoye Tractor.
www.hoyetractor...
I pronounced the name wrong in the video. ( sorry guys)
Here are the parts I needed:
The sleeve that covered the spindle housing at the bottom.
The seal and collar that go in the hud where the oil is leaking from.
The gasket for the spindle gear cover on the bottom of the hub. I was calling that gear a pinion gear in the video.
Big o-ring that goes around the hub housing.
And the busing and seal for the steering arm that bolts to the top of the hub housing.
And 4 or 5 qts of gear oil.
My battery started to die at the end so I had to rush the video, But I think it will still help you if you have never done this.

Do you understand just how many times your video here has been used as genuine "Instructions" for replacing the pinion seals on all those Yanmar and John Deere Tractor models. You helped me out enormously, giving good idea of wtf I would find before I had her in pieces. Do you still have the Yanmar? If so how long have your seals lasted?

The seals lasted a while but have started leaking again. When I go in it again I will have to investigate further to see why they did not last longer. I was expecting them to last for a several years . I'm a bit disappointed. Hope yours holds up better for you.

@@G220life good man for responding so quick, really appreciate it. When we pool all of our knowledge and experience we're able to pretty much have it made. Talking with an old timer he explained these older yanmars/Deere models were built with entirely different service schedules, even our front wheel bearings I guess we're meant to be replaced every 1000 hours with a front loader of course. Can't remember what he said rough service life of the pinion seals were but it was either 250-500 hour's some guys extended the life with Lucas Hub Oil which is what I'm putting back in to mine. I have the Deere 1050 which I picked up from a neighbor, who bought it with the house from the original owner...neither were very good at the mechanical side so my front axle needed help from day 1. Hoyte as you already listed has been incredible Man, but they slipped up and forgot to give me the inner most wheel bearing (maybe he thought I wouldn't need it?) Besides that they're perhaps the best there is, guys say you can't get parts for our tractors, you and I know that's not really true. If we have a little time to spare we can find everything needed including turbos, engine parts, gear clusters at the same dam price as any other A lot of talk to say excellent video and an excellent job, and a massive thank you for replying. You should do some more videos covering your tractor as there's so few you pretty much own the market haha easy money for you Man

Great video! My tractor (336D), needs to have both sides done as it’s leaking oil and you make the job a little less scary for me to attempt.

I bought a head from hoye tractor for my 336d yanmar that was apparently improperly reconditioned and caused extensive damage. They denied it til i had the head miked by a certified machinest but would not replace it

Hi. I have a John Deere 1050 that looks just like this but I cannot find these parts anywhere! Do you have any idea if their the same size( seals and collar)? Thanks

John Dunlavey Not sure about JD stuff at that detail John. But the folks at hoye tractor would know. They were helpful to me in the past. Give them a call and tell us what you learn. www.hoyetractor.com/

FYI. It is Hoyetractor.com. He spelled the name wrong. They also have a youtube channel and videos on their web page.

Phil Hall no biggie in the misspelling except it won’t get you where you need to go. Then not knowing any different, you can’t find them.

Thanks for the great video. Why no grease on the pinion bearing?

Once you get it all back together just fill the axle back up with gear lube through the hole on top of the axle. You just have to give the lube time to work through the hubs to make sure the level is right.

How did you crack open the hub to get the ring gear out...my dad and I are doing the same procedure to an old John Deere (Yanmar made) and it's got pretty much identical parts to yours in the video. Thanks Dan

Hey Dan, Mine had some handy threaded bolt holes to use to push it off with. Check here in the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dSCd7dQnxNc.html around 14:30 minutes

Tim, For what I saw from parts break down images on-line they are made differently. But the seal looks like it is much easier to install.

Never seen a 950 in person but I have heard that the 850 and 950 are about the same as mine. Let us know if the fix for yours is the same as my Yanmar.

john deere didn't have the hub we broke so we order it from Yanmar $600 for a hub housing no gears or bearings. Now we're working on the other side has the same problem you are showing .
