I love this song "Drive"so much...still listening in 2022 on repeat all day!! I love Yanni and his music. Got to see him in concert in PA (US) and he shook my hand and laid his other hand on top of mine!!! It was one of my most memorable experiences of my life! I know every note of every song. He is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL and TALENTED musician of all time. I am so happy I got to see him in concert twice in my life. Maybe it's because I grew up on video games in the '90's, but every time I hear this song it reminds me of of the kind of music I would hear on a level in one of the old "Sonic the Hedgehog games, lol In all seriousness, I love this rendition of one of his old classics. This song was originally called The Trance and appeared on Yanni's very rare demo/EP cassette called The Prophecy, released shortly after Optimystique's vinyl release in 1984. It was a bit simpler in structure and had a more vintage analog synth feel like Optimystique. Reflections of Passion and Nostalgia were also on The Prophecy and reworked and included in later albums.

Dang, Yanni is getting serious about adding this techno approach. It's subtle, but compare this to his group of first albums. He's really pounding out the driving rhythm. It's very acoustic, still, but maybe the secret is the infusion of the electronic bass lines. Also, it's really cool how in the end he just sort of turns the key in another direction and then just lets go. He doesn't let it linger.
