Today we are trying two Yaqi razor heads that couldn't be any more different. One is very mild the other one is rather aggresive. Let's see how it goes.

I recognize the Telstar. Another design inspired by the popular (and often very hard to get) Wolfman razor. Also looks similar to the (wolfman clone) Razorock Lupo.

until you try it, you're always gonna wonder "How would the Muhle R41 do?" So just go ahead and buy one, because as you said it yourself, it's all about the technique 😀 i have def not regretted buying my R41's. As for the Simpson M7 brush, it's good i like it. I also have the Simpson Polo's, the Polo 8 is slightly bigger than the M7, i like their taller/longer handles for lathering in deeper bowls, as you did in the video.

Thank you so much for the review. Marked both these yaqi heads off my shopping list. I'm in love with my ghost 70 in stainless but found the tile far too mild. Now i wonder about the vostok 70, and the thalia in stainless

Heiko great shave. Thanks for reviewing the Zephyr. I just ordered one on Ali Express. I was wondering about the performance of this model. I only paid $2.46 total because of being a new customer. Great price including shipping. Just the razor head. No handle included.

@@Heiko-shavesI got a few Yaqi heads now, and I kinda wish they were clones. I mean they are close, but they usually take some liberties in the design. For example the DE89 inspired head is semi agressive and has the tabs enclosed, where the OG is mild and the razor tabs hang out.

Hallo Heiko, sehr interessante und spannende Vergleichsrasur. Den Yaqi Telstar habe ich nur wenige Male benutzt, dieser war mir im Vergleich zum R41 zu aggressiv und schlechter kontrollierbar. Wie der Vergleich dieser beiden Rasierhobel heute gezeigt hat, kann ein relativ sanfter Rasierhobel mit einem flachen Rasierwinkel sehr effizient sein. Beim R41 hat man viel Spiel beim Rasierwinkel und sollte für eine sanfte Rasur diesen möglichst flach halten - "riding the cap". Zur weiteren Entschärfung des R41 haben sich bei mir die Voskhod Rasierklingen bewährt. Beim R41 braucht man für eine perfekte Glätte weniger genau auf die Wuchsrichtung des Barthaares zu achten, da kommt gnadenlos alles ab und erfoldert kaum ein Ausputzen. Grüße Artur

Komisch, das ihr den Yaqi Telstar als "aggressiv" empfindet - ich finde den eher "mittelmäßig-aggressiv". Mein Lieblings-Yaqi ist jedoch der Yaqi Mellon.

@@SenorRossi70 auf meiner Aggressivität Skala von 1-5 is der Telstar als 3.5 eingestuft. Also oberes Mittelfeld. Ich habe die Rasure mit dem Telstar durchaus genossen.

Wieder mal eine geile Rasur Heiko! Danke dafür! Das Kopfdesign vom Yaqi Zephyr hatte ich auch bereits in zwei von meinem Videos und war recht begeistert. Einmal bei dem Drogerie-Lady Shaver von dm für 5,99 €uro (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UR5gvv0MFmo.html) und einmal beim RMK-Solingen Rasierer (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Wx4So0BecpA.html). Wäre interessant zu wissen, wer da von wem abkopiert hat… Mich haben die Ecken beim Rasieren übrigens nicht gestört, sondern ich war eher begeistert von dem außerordentlichen sanften Charakter dieses milden Rasierkopfes. Der Telstar wird hingegen wohl nicht bei mir einziehen. Ich stehe eher auf ‚Softys‘ Beste Grüße in den ‚Golden State‘ Jörg

Der Zephyr ist sehr mild, vielleicht sogar ein bisschen zu mild. Hier in den USA gibt es The Razor Company, do haben ihren eigenen Aluminiumrasierer rausgebracht, hergestellt in den USA, super Verarbeitung, Gewinde Einsatz aus Edelstahl und die Alignment pins sind auch aus Edelstahl. Kostet nur $45. Der würde dir bestimmt auch Spaß machen. Gruß, Heiko

My suggestion would be to get a Fatip grande first and if you felt comfortable with it move to the R41.

I'd be shimming the Telstar so it's less + in the blade exposure and rounding off the ends on the Zephyr. I have a Yaqi Slope SS which I had to round off and shim, due to too much + blade exposure. Great review non the less Heiko 🕉

The only issue with rounding off is that those razors are cast zinc with chrome plating on it. I guess if it is stainless that would work.

I bought recently the Zephyr head and didn't like it. Especially these side points. I don't feel the blade, razor makes me feel it too dull. I put it into the shelf - just no way for me.

I hear you but I think Yaqi has already come out with a few unique designs that are no copies. Ultimately everyone is copying everyone else or takes inspiration from. Have a good day.
