Lanier, thanks for the wonderful review of this Yardley classic fragrance. One of the things I love about your reviews is that you give the background and take us on a journey with you. When it comes to classic elegance, you are the man to consult. Thanks for keeping the bar high!!!
This was a great review! I love hearing the history of establishments and you did a wonderful job of describing the origins of Yardley. My father used both Yardley and Royal Copenhagen cologne and aftershaves back in the 70s & 80s. Now that I’m a father I have become very nostalgic toward both these houses. Thank you for this review
Fantastic review as always Lanier!!! I LOVE the opening with the amazing images and music! Bravo!!! So excited about this line. And the history behind it. Which other two did you pick up? I think just the name Yardley alone is something that’s almost encapsulated in our culture. Everyone’s mother had it. It goes back so far!
Thanks Chris...and thanks to your suggestion that I buy it. I am thrilled. You will just have to wait and see what the other two I bought were. LOL Cheers
LANIER! Hello my friend! Thank you for this. Have used Yardley English Lavender Soap for years but was totally unaware of their fragrances. You remain The Best! Cheers!
Dear Lanier, thank you I have had one of those weeks so a good dose of Dr Smiths content has perked me up. Great review and content as usual .Very kind regards.
Hello! What a wonderful opening to a great review!!! Thank you! A few years ago I was walking down Whitehall & on the railings outside the Banqueting House there were wreaths under that window for Charles I & his army. Unknowingly I was there on the anniversary of his execution, it did send a shiver up my spine! We went in & had the tour. If you do get a chance to come back to London (& the place is open!) it is well worth just going to see that beautiful ceiling, wow! 🍸🐝🐝
I remember my granny using that and having the talcum powder etc! Very calming smell! I’m English and I’m afraid I’ve not used much from this house (apart from Citrus Wood), but am looking to put that right now. England have reached the Euro 2020 final which is tonight (so called, but it was postponed from last year due to Covid), so I’m now buying English fragrances from Penhaligons, Floris and Yardley, plus, I’ve just bought some English sparkling wine as we have some great wines form soils similar to those found in the Champagne region in France.
Brilliant mini trip to my favorite city. That intro - WOW! Goosebumps. Your historical references are perfect. Yardley was my go to brand in the sixties. Jean Shrimpton was the face of Yardley’s ‘London look’, in addition to Twiggy. Genius marketing campaign. Superb, Lanier!
Hi Lanier! I bought this perfume after seeing your initial video, just before you went traveling. I really enjoy this one and getting a lot of compliments too! Btw. I order the EDT but got the EDP! Just great!
I have been in The Banqueting Hall. It is magnificent and well worth a return visit to London just to see it alone. I am looking forward to trying this perfume. Thank you for the video!
Hello Lanier, Thank you for another great video and history lesson. I have been a big fan of Yardley soaps for years and I love thier lavender. Not to long ago I saw your video on Yardley Gentlemen Urbane and because of that video and my love for Lavendar I purchased it and I'm in love. Since then I also purchased Gentlemen legacy and now I have to have the rest of the collection. I am so impressed with the quality of these fragrances and the longevity on my skin is awesome. Have you tried the Gentlemen Suave yet ? Thank you again for the introduction to this line. I hope this message finds you well. Big hugs going your way!
Hello Cubangroove. Just catching up on my comments pages. Thank YOU for a lovely comment. Suave...no not yet. So I guess I should. Have you tried it? Cheers.
I just discovered your channel Class and elegant!! I'm a subscriber of your now because I want to learn about classic fragrances and if you don't mind can you point me in the right direction of where to find it please Thank you!!
Great review. And a very good price. How do you make these videos with al the music, i’m affraid of the copyright stuff, i give of me to you tube, they give a lot also, but a little strickt sometimes. Do you do review of cheaper things like Aqua velva skin bracer.? Or is that a big no no. ? Would be fun, to hear your input. Good style. 👌
Another refined and informative review from the sophisticated Lanier Smith! Can’t wait to get my nose on this one. P.S. love your watch. Where could I purchase it?
Thank you Jose! How kind you are. Well this watch is a replica of the watch what Rudolph Valentino wore. He was a great star of the Silent Screen and the first "Latin Lover" of the movies. He die tragically very young at the height of his career. I bought the watch on line at The Hollywood Collection. Here is the link. hollywood-collection.com/collections/watches
Loved the review. A question from someone whose recently began to gain some interest in perfumes. How are you able to pin point what a perfume smells like? Is it mainly from experience? And how can someone new learn to differentiate btn products?
