I have a 2010 Yaris hatch too. I proofed mine underneath when it was 2 years old with black Waxoyl which we have in England. It works really well and has saved the car from any rust damage at all. I put wax through all the box sections too. It really has saved the car. I have a Japan built mk1 Yaris too. I waxed that all through and it keeps passing its yearly test. It’s 21 years old and still drives like new. Hope you had your rust fixed. It really does look frightening. It would be much better if Toyota had designed that area so it wasn’t double skinned. Happy Motoring Hope everything’s going well 👍🏻
I’m seeing lots of Yaris with rust around the welds on the torsion beam axle. It seems to be a failing on these cars. Some have cracked right through. Pretty frightening if yr back wheels decide to suddenly steer opposite ways 😂
@@toyo671 I've seen pictures of that failure. I've been keeping an eye on mine and so far so good. I think there is a recall for a certain year for that issue.
Use a old paint sprayer a couple gallons of ol slop oil spray the under side of the frame and run er down the dirt road at the end of are rd I do it every year with my ranger.
Finnaly found a video on this thanks for your vid. I have a 2009 Yaris sedan. I live in the Midwest it’s been up here its entire life. Your exhaust header looks great! My oem one is so rusty. And below that header looks like the control arms or cv axel? I believe?? Yours look so clean. But my arms or whatever that is below the header is rusty too. Besides that the rear of the car has no rust and frame has no rust.
hi, I have the same problem with my 2006 Yaris. It's a great car, apart from this problem and would a shame to send it to the scrap heap. Did this get fixed?
I had it repaired by a professional metal fabricator. All the rust was removed and it was rebuilt stronger than stock. I have a new video showing the repair after a year.
@@david75523 I just sold my echo today. Rusted where the rear axle bar mounts on both side. I had new metal welded in 2015 rusted in the same place and other areas as well.
I'm putting the car on a lift in a few days so I'll be able to get a good view of how it was repaired. I didn't have the means to repair it due to winter so a friend of mine repaired for me.
It's been repaired by a professional. Believe me I knew how dangerous it was. When I found that hole on both sides I parked it. It's been repaired for over a year now and holding up well.
@@Danialali-hl7eq not that much, i live in canada and a third of the cars thats on the road are ten times worst than this and i have never seen a dangerous incident where rust was the culprit. the thing with very rusty car is that they are difficult to work on as alot of the things youll be removing will break but nothing unfixable with some ingenuity
