"I have no regrets about coming in for magnets and coming out with, like, 100$ of yarn" we all felt that lol. Also "last and most certainly least" deserves quote of the month

Last time I was at a Joanne's I went in for a sew on zipper and came out with $117 worth of clearance (and on sale on top of that) yarn. So, I feel ya! Hubby says I'm not allowed to go back unsupervised, lol.

One of the pros of hemp is indeed the environment-friendliness. You do need to wash it a couple of times but then it's super soft. The muted tones are a trademark of hemp. Had a green dress in it, I wore it for years until it fell apart, so soft and gorgeous. Love your yarn snob reviews, Toni, I can't get any of the yarns here but still love to see it.

As someone that's more of a knitter than a crocheter, it's kinda nice to have someone to rate yarns! I'm mostly buying mine through Etsy and indie yarn shops at the moment, so having a gauge of what's happening in big craft stores is super nice.

i appreciate that not only do you give us your honest opinions on the yarn you are reviewing, you also give suggestions for best hooks to use (i never would have thought material like resin vs wood would make that much of a difference) but you also make suggestions for the types of projects that the yarn would work well for.

I work at Joann’s and there is another KXC yarn you might like called “bliss” is has different strands of 3 different fibers and it has a slightly fuzzy halo. Not crazy mohair halo but just a little bit.

I'd really love to see you review Viking Garn (Viking of Norway is the Ravelry name), it's a Norwegian yarn that I find commonly here in Finland. I'm pretty sure there is a UK site out there that might sell it. I've fallen in love with their Bambino Fingering weight yarn which is 50% Bamboo fibers / 50% Cotton but it is quite soft given what it's made out of. I plan on making a lovely shawl out of this with lovely spring colors. The color palette is wide and varied. I'm also making your Holiday Sampler Blanket with their Sportsragg Sport weight yarn which is turning out to be amazingly soft, I'm jealous of my mother-in-law who is going to receive this blanket as a Christmas gift this year. I previously made your Honeycomb Tunisian Ear Warmer for my boyfriend last Christmas out of their Reflex line which is 15% Reflective material / 51% Wool / 34% Polyester though the reflective material may seem like it'd make the yarn course but it really didn't seem to ruin it's overall soft feel. Worked great for the project! I also found another one of their lines Alpaca Bris which is 60% Baby Alpaca (ie Alpaca chesthair) / 11% Merino wool / 29% Nylon which is an amazingly soft (and expensive) yarn I plan to use to make my boyfriend a fox blanket (turning a baby blanket into a blanket for a full grown man is going to be tricky but lets go). I really really love this brand for some reason, though the company is in Norway the yarn is made in Peru however, so far they've yet to let me down. I'm really enjoying them as a brand overall and I plan to try many more of their lines for other projects I have in mind. I would just love to hear your take on these yarns since you did your Hobbii review! Hobbii might actually sell Viking Garn too now that I think of it! Either way great work I'm living for these yarn snob reviews!

Of the ones you reviewed, I really want to try the Nuboo. I have been dying to make your Summertime Tee, but I have had trouble deciding on a yarn for it. I live in South Florida and really wanted to find something that would keep cool. This might be the ticket. I also found an interesting new yarn at Michael's you should give a try. It's called Crème Cotton by Loops and Threads. It's mostly cotton with a small percentage of nylon. It's a "fuzzy chain" construction, worsted weight and super soft. I don't think I have ever seen a cotton quite that soft. Thanks for the awesome video.!

I went and checked the JoAnn website about the raffia yarn, and I can tell the description is a bit deceptive, as rayon is neither natural nor raw: rayon is a semisynthetic material that is made by chemically treating the cellulose from wood or bamboo pulp, so it's not natural per se but comes from a renewable source (compared to acrylic for example). Nevertheless, rayon is biodegradable and breathable, as at its core it is based on cellulose (I have no idea on the environmental impact associated with its production, though)

I'm currently crocheting fashion garments for myself out of the following yarns from Hobby Lobby: - making a flirty sleeveless dress from Yarn Bee's *Spinesse* in Red. It will have 10-12" fringe on the bottom - making a summer sleeveless top in Yarn Bee's *Bamboo-tiful* which is a 50/50 blend of Cotton/Viscose from bamboo.

I bought Just Hemp for washcloths. I used my Denise Tunisian hook 6.5 and it was rough going. The finished product get REALLY STIFF once you wet it, but after a couple of rounds in the washer/dryer it’s actually very soft. Con: It shrinks A LOT! Nearly an inch all around, so plan for that. Color didn’t fade, though, so that’s good! Pro: If you need a good exfoliating washcloth, Just Hemp is your yarn 🧶

I just finished making a crossbody bag with the Just Hemp and I have to agree with you, I don't think I'll be making anything with it again anytime soon. Although for the purpose of the bag it did work up to be a sturdy yarn! I almost gave up on the project, however, because of the yarn splitting constantly -- very frustrating. I can't imagine using this yarn for a wearable at all -- OUCH!! Thanks for another great yarn review, Toni!!

I've used that hemp from Lion Brand before, Toni is spot on about it's texture and roughness. That being said I think combining it with a softer material like cotton would go a long way to softening it up. That tends to be the practice in general for making clothes with hemp.

That rafia might work better with a bigger hook. I made a bag with similar yarn from hobium, with a 8mm hook and that worked fine, so maybe it would work better with the rafia too. The hemp is really something you need to get used to. It becomes really nice after wash and then works well with clothing on skin, the colors dont suffer from wash. Well, they should not suffer, depends on how well its made. That Nuboo looks so good!

You should do Garn Studio Drops Line. Drops Alpaca Boulce, Drops Air, Drops Sky, Drops Merino, Drops Alpaca Silk, Drops Melody, Drops Puna and Drops Flora are all ones I’ve tried and I liked them all. Shipping is international so it may take a bit but I really like it. I do more knitting than crochet though so idk if that matters and I usually make newborn prop items like rompers, sleepers, sleep hats and a LOT of bonnets. The price point isn’t bad at all either. They all range in the $3-$5 area.

I think with the hemp fiber will act a lot like linen if you've ever worked with it before. Linen isn't peprsonally the comfiest to knit with but has had wonderful pay off once it's broken in and while I work with it I put lanolin on my hands to put some soft oils into it as I am knitting.
