I really like their idea with this skul. He's got a super unique play style that's unlike any of the other skuls and that's really cool. As they make more skuls it becomes harder to give each of them a unique personality and playstyle in a way. I'm glad they aren't running out of creativity and instead seem to be experimenting with even wilder ideas.

Had my run with him yesterday! This update actually feels like my runs are going… how I want them to? The new stuff is really helpful for making builds easier to realize, hope you get as much fun out of this as I do.
The preloading of cannonballs right before a boss fight reminded me a bit of DnD wizards preparing spells to blast someone into oblivion, amusingly enough. They keep knocking it out of the park with the legendary skulls (besides a certain one).
Davy Jones is so cool, he actually is carrying a huge ass cannon, I must say he's design is so awesome and he's play style is very creative for a power skull, now can I get a Yarr!!!
Just did this skull today. He has a lot of air maneuverability as doing an air cannon shot resets his dash. However, I didn't even think of piling up a bunch of special shots like you did so I'm glad I learned something from this video.
I did the same thing as you when I started the update, played the mage skull, and then bought Davy Jones in the next run for a guaranteed try of him. Unfortunately, I died in that run. Then, straight after, I started a Ghoul run and found Davy Jones after the third adventurer fight, and I ended up winning with a bunch of masterpiece items, as well as Brawl, Arms and Thorny Boots (for aerial damage). This skull is seriously amazing, and I am so glad they added him. I think he might be the Gargoyle to Mage's Hunter. He's really good in the air, and I just kept dashing above the First Hero sending airstrikes of anchors and boys his way. God, this game is so great...
14:37 that was a trip, I thought you edited bone to be all excited with a gif, making me think bone was what you were paying attention to but it was just chat that perfectly fit exactly as you popped up the item menu. Im also high so that felt really weird
Yo idk if someone already wrote it, but green lightning was the thing when the souls of dead are going from world of alive to the another world, so thats the possible reason of that swap skull efect
Amusingly I once imagined a pirate themed Skul that was common and would go up from rare(if I remember right) leading up to Davy Jones or BlackBeard. But sweet Johnny Depp I didn’t expect something like this and am quite happy for it.
Davey Jones is also different in that a lot of items that work well with most skulls don't work as well with him. Since increasing attack speed only increases his reload and he can only hold 4 shots at a time, I found items like Thief's BSD and other time-sensitive item procs are not desirable. Also, being a ranged skull, building level 4/6 of arms won't be as effective since it only affects enemies in front.
After multiple rewatches of this video, I can conclude that the gunners and bombard cannonballs are probably the best for general play. The anchor is fine for early game but starts falling off, and deck hands aren't the smartest bananas in the bunch.
Nice run beelz!! i had my run yesterday, and i build him to a soar build, basically spamming aerial attacks. if you time the dashes right (and your reload), you would just stay airborne, and use the minimap to figure out where the enemies at.
Can we talk about what a lowkey MVP Yaksha was in this video? The big guy could have resented the new Legendary Power boy in town, but instead he took time out of his busy schedule to show Davy Jones the ropes and even supported him with a Power Bone buff!
Amazing Pirate run! Had a run today that made me think of this channel. Poison Thief, with both poison uniques. Nearly perfect item setup. If you had that, you would clear the game in record time. Instead I got greedy and tried to face-tank the final Adventurer, and lost my first life. Then repeated the process against Joan.
This is a very interesting skull, very HEFTY. Man chonk and you can really really feel it. Interesting playstyle, very weird, took some getting used to his down fire ariel attack. Yohoho tho
My absolute favorite thing about Davy Jones is the fact that he can just stay in the air and pogo with his cannon while also raining explosive mayhem on the enemies.
Imagine your a palace guard and you know everything about Davy Jones and your like "he's confined to the sea, I'm safe here" and then Skul comes walking around the corner wielding that massive cannon AS Davy Jones, as he's walking forward he summons his ghostly crew and rasps out "Do yah fear death?" to you and all the guards with you and your like "Oh ****". 😆 🤣
I love aerial based characters. Looks like this one will be a lot of fun when mastered. I get he's not like a proper aerial character, but he has some stuff going on.
This run really makes me think southpaw should do something about item slots, maybe adding like one or two more slots when you completely fill your items (preferably on the two upper corners), or make an entire item that has that function so that you can hold more items inside that or have it on the item screen as well
Honestly wasn’t what I was expecting for a pirate skull. I was expecting more like a flint lock and saber with skills like using tentacles to grab people and throwing a ship, but this version is pretty neat. Also the banana slamma covenant says hello.
@@Beelz55 Perhaps, but all three of his abilities are direct quotes from Davy Jones, even the generic sounding ones, especially his swap. I think Southpaw did their absolute best to ensure a cool Skull as a nod to the character without angering the mouse, you know?
BEELZ, you gotta get a double clone clone run. 1 clone clone is enough to get tier 4 inscriptions with one item, but 2 would pretty much guarantee all inscriptions you get are fully maxed out. All you need is good luck and slime :D
2 things to look forward to, Oberon runs are op again with 2 legendary spirits, as in it solos the hero. And if you slime the sun sword or moon ring you get different items than fulgent Dawn.

16:48 I loved this bit; despite how awesome the two newbies are, and despite how dominant Sword & Ghoul & Water have become…Warewolf might still be the best skull in the game for how easily players can transition into them and have him pick up the slack. You have problems…and Warewolf solves them so that you can get back to whatever science you were working on beforehand. Your whole “he can bully them from the air” comment got me thinking: could Davy Jones present the long-awaited “2nd skull who can do Soar builds” we’ve been waiting on for an eternity? Are there any other existing skulls-besides Gargoyle-who you think we can ALREADY do that with? Because I haven’t seen them and Davy might just be able to fill a oft-ignored niche now that he’s onboard (heh)
Thiefs black steel daggers effect time should be halved. Right now, it's way to easy to keep up for every skull, while it should be a good damage boost for speed skulls and quick balance skulls.
My favourite build this meta is legendary mage with 4 manatech and mages necklace 100% increased skill casting speed, 0 cooldown on skills and FIREBALLS EVERYWHERE

Yoooo! Hoooo! Ank-Arrrrssss away!Idea. Tell the devs to make yaksha unique, his big form should be his legendary. Also his punch part of his basic combo should be a lunge attack. That would go a long way to bringing him up to par. Yaksha has always been really cool but really underpowered. Hopefully you like the idea and can pass it on to the dev team. P.S. Regardless of what most people think I like concept of yaksha it just needs to be adjusted maybe let us transform freely and instead of a bubble where he transforms make it the whole screen and let us swap back and forth and use abilities to decrease cooldown of the opposite transformations abilities
So the new skul update is finally on console. I play as davy Jones and see how he feels... all of a sudden on I randomly get 2 shops that has duped items and everytime i restock it just has one item duped. It even gave me the option to buy a quintessence😂😂 this new update is amazing
wait a second after you reach max masterpiece all items that evolve with max masterpiece will stay at the evolved state even if you lose points into masterpiece that's nuts

Beelz!! There's something better than fulgent dawn! I was doing wizard run and got the moon ring early and then got slime to double it. Now i have a magic only version of fulgent dawn(it has a different name and shape but i'll let you discover it yourself). I think this is new in this update because the last time i got 2 solar sword it didnt turn into anything. The only con is that you can't get 2 of this same item unlike fulgent dawn

Goddamn, Davy Jones is a legendary in the truest manner! From The swap calling down lightning, the crewmates (explosive and gunners), the anchor, and the muhfuggin' rain of cannonballs, this guy's absolutely amazing! Everything in the moveset just works, all for their own reasons! The explosive boys definitely aren't as good as the gunners, but the delayed explosives are more than likely good for burst damage, with the gunners good for more consistent DPS. Given that they've finally delivered for the first Legendary Power skull, and it's this amazing, I wonder what they'll do with that Yaksha skull that they've been teasing at since before the 1.0 update?
