His hook tools look very much like the tools bodgers use (spring pole lathes).

notice the turning direction is opposite to us in the west,

He chooses the direction. The lathe is reversible via those two levers with wire/cable attached and going down thru the table. They shift a wide flat belt that is behind the headstock. Tools cut both ways depending on how they are presented to the wood.

Китайцы добрались до токарных станков? Или какая суть видео? 50-60-ти летнее дедки из бывшего СССР на станках 50-х годов такое вытворяют, что, чтоб повторить - нужен 3-х осевой станок с ЧПУ, а эти детки ещё и копейки зарабатывают. P.S. Наверно это как после войны было много ветеранов и они никому были не нужны, а сейчас ...
