Yates Precision - Merica Safety Razor - Amazing Shave 

I just ordered a custom build your own based off your video. I’m waiting for the winning to come back in stock and now I need a Merica. In two months of this madness I already have nine razors. 🤣🤣

I’ve been using this razor for the last 2 years and i absolutely love it. It is hands down my favourite razor, it never gave me a bad shave!

Just got this in the mail today. Shave was amazing, a great step up from the Henson AL13. Had the same experience as you, very efficient, no irritation or stinging with the alum block. Can't wait to use it again!

My wife got me the Merica razor in brass for Christmas. This one is the one I have been looking for since I started over 10 years ago. Definitely a keeper and it is pretty much the perfect razor in my opinion.

I picked up A&E's "Which One's Pink?" from TRC simply because of the Floyd reference, and that stuff is excellent. Earthy scent with a little spice in there. Great lather with a nice sheen to it, and leaves a bit of a slick residue after the first pass. Think I'll be sticking with A&E for a while. Plus it's the initials of me and my wife's first names so I got that going for me, which is nice. Gunga galunga. Great video as always! Hope you had a great holiday, and Happy New Year to ya!

That different men with different faces, beards, soaps, and lives can agree that this razor is great, is a compliment to the manufacturers, and their small business in Pennsylvania.

I have the machined and the bead blast one as the wet shaving company was trying to get rid of some inventory a couple of months ago before Yates bought them. I ordered the new winning titanium razor as it is supposed to be as efficient with little to no blade feel. The one thing you forgot to mention is that there is a magnet in the bottom of the razor. It is handy when you want to take the blade out and your hands are slick from shaving.

#ohioshavesmerica. I’ve been using bloom water as a pre pre shave for some time now. I massage my face with it and then apply a little PAA Tube 2.0. I don’t remember when I last had any irritation. As a bonus, I get a nice preview of the soap’s scent 👍 Wishing you a blessed New Year, Al

Honestly I had the titanium one and I like the stainless with the matte finish way more. Great razor!

#ohioshavesmerica I started wet shaving this December and so far I like it. After watch so many of your videos, I didn’t think it would be as tricky as it has been. I got the Rockwell 6C and the razor is great but I am still trying to find my favorite blade. Thanks for getting me interested in trying this.

I finally pulled the trigger on a stainless steel razor and this was it. Been using the Merica for about a month now and loving it. Right out of the gate you notice how balanced this razor is. The notch on the handle makes for a perfect hold. Yates did a good job with this design. How would you compare this to the Rockwell 6S?

Just used my Merica for it's first shave. Great mild razor! I plan on using this when I'm shaving with light growth, a day or two. Otherwise I will use my Rex Konsul which is still smooth but much more aggressive.

This is a neat razor, going to add it to what seems to be my never ending list of razors I want. 😂 I just got the leaf razor for head shaves and it’s awesome. Thank you so much for that recommendation. #ohioshavesmerica

#ohioshavesmerica I'm starting to develop a trend with your Yates videos (not that it is a bad thing): it sure does look like one could get away with a quick out the door one pass shave with their razor and the right blade combo (in your case the Personna comforts). That to me is the sign of a great razor. The fact it passed your alum block test is a double plus.

I like a 24mm knot. I also like the Rockwell 20mm knot. Synthetic is the way to go.

Razor Emporium has a good pre-shave soap that really helps a later bloom on your face (and takes the guess work out of using a pre-shave oil or gel.) I've used A&E's "Tobacco Road" shave soap, shower soap, aftershave and cologne. It has a wonderful pipe tobacco scent that is the best I've found in trying many brands. Have you ever tried the Wilkinson Sword blade? It's my favorite and I've tried it in a Feather plastic adjustable and a Rex Konsul. And I've tried a lot of blades.

I saw your review on Yates website for their custom order razors and have to agree with you. It's an excellent razor. I purchased one for my brother for Christmas and couldn't help but try it out to compare it to my Rex Konsul. I was highly impressed with the shave and gave serious thought to purchasing one for myself. I'd need more time to try different blades as the Wilkinson Sword that is stellar in the Konsul but was a bit rough on my neck in the Yates. But on my face it was excellent in all shaving angles. My only complaints are the too smooth handle that's very slippery when wet and I'd like to see a hybrid base plate that is one side solid bar and the other the scalloped bar. I think that would be excellent. My brother only haves once a week so I got him the hybrid of the scalloped bar/open comb. And the 4 handles available is very nice as well. I don't like how short the Konsul is and I got my brother the 3.50 handle which I think is ideal. There really should be more of a spotlight on this razor and company.

I've been looking at this razor or the Yates Winning as an alternative to the Henson and Rockwell 6C I've been using. I like the weight and the shave of the 6C, but love the design and angle of the Henson. I know you hold the 6C in high regard. Does the Merica compete with it? Would you still pick the 6C over this?

I wonder why it's much cheaper than their other ss razor, always wanted to get it but thought it might be too mild , it did great on your beard especially that against the grain neck shave, I think this might be my next purchase

It was made by Yates but I got it from the wet shaving club!!!! With the matching stand . I also love the laser etched American flag!!!!!

When I compare this video to your others, this razor seems to have more of a shearing sound (as opposed scraping). It sounds like a well-tuned hand plane on wood when it's cutting perfectly. Did you get the same sense compared with other razors - or might it just be the microphone? I guess I'll find out. I ordered one because of this review.

I wished i had bought this razor sooner lol. I've heard good things, reviews. Got it with the bead blast finish, waiting for it to ship. I thought the magnet on the handle was cool too. On a side note I had bought a blackland era razor early last year and the top cap thread snapped. Yates has been on my radar for a while. 2023 I mostly used my Twig, Rockwell Model T and Razorocks and occasionally a vintage.

Vanille vendetta and peach and cognac are their best. Along with Spartacus, Asian plum, and aqua de Boracay

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Do an updated favorite blades. I recently bought a Henson AL13 and wanting to hear your thoughts on blades. RKs tore me up. I bought some Astra but got the india ones on accident and haven’t tried them yet. Was not aware of the india vs russia blade thing. Strongly thinking about some Wilkinson swords because idk why they just really appeal to me. Feathers scare me with how sharp they are. Contemplating personna as well. Would love to hear your thoughts though!

This is such a great razor. It really says a lot about Jake that there's no drop in quality from his most to least expensive razor. I think the 'Merica is one of the best razors on the market at any price. It's a fantastic head shaver too. The handle feels great upside down and sideways.

I finally got my hands on the brass version of this razor, but alas my high hopes were dashed. I've been DE shaving for about 10 years and I get a great shave from the Rockwell 6S and the Karve Overlander. Unfortunately the 'Merica left me with razor bumps (which I never get) on the first shave and bleeding on the second. It was irritating enough that I'm not looking forward to a third try. (Personna blades in all of the above.) I guess there's truth to the saying, "your mileage may vary!"
