Learning how to shave with a safety razor, double edge razor is a learning experience. Follow along and see the mistakes that I make and how to rectify them. I am tired of paying so much money for cartridge razors. I’m a Gillette cartridge guy, through and through. I am just completely upset with the Shave I’m getting for the price I’m paying. I have a very coarse beard. I could actually shave twice a day, my beard is that thick/facial hair. My quest is to find the least expensive way to get the greatest shave of my life. I have found that double edge razors are the best shave that you can acquire. We’re going back to the 1900s. This has been a proven shave for over 100 years now. We are so trained by commercials and what everyone else is using to spend a ton of money on products that are inferior to the past. I will take you step-by-step through learning how to shave. Top tip for you all 😊 When you’re brush starts to become lifeless and the hairs start to curl into the middle, take a comb and run it through the bristles. Start as close to the handle as possible and comb the hairs, turning the handle incrementally with each pass!
I had be looking at the timeless brush for a while but after watching your videos on it . I decided to pull the trigger and bought it. You were right this brush is fantastic!!!!! Thanks for your cool videos!!!!
I'm one and done. Most people get three or four shaves out of a blade. How you can tell us when the blade starts tugging on the hairs instead of cutting through them.
For the past 50 odd years I've used cheap badger hair shaving brushes and occasionally shaving foam. IMO a good quality soap and technique are the main ingredients of a close shave.
Have Matt refurb it in the "Prospector" finish. Most handsome razor on the planet! I use a Gillette 365 at 9,7 and 5. So far for me its the perfect shave, little to no razor burn and no blood. The soap and blade make all the difference with that Fatboy. Don't give up on it.
Just got my first double-edged razor and thought I'd come to say that your videos were very helpful in making me take the leap. The Henson took my long hair right off so fast, but I like to shave against the grain, so it is taking me a lot more time to get tough spots than with a safety razor.
My father has a very sensitive neck as well and could never shave against the grain. Whereas once I switched over to a safety razor after a couple of months, I could go against the grain without getting any ingrown hairs and razor bumps using a safety, razor. With all of the other products that I use, has made a great improvement in my complexion and the quality of my shave. I would highly recommend it for you.
I have not bought this brush yet and but from what I can see I should have bought this brush with different knots and that would’ve been cheaper in the long run 😀
I know this video was a while back, but like you had used the Leaf Shave Oil here, I swear by the Proraso Pre-Shave, myself. Like Matt from RE, I use the Proraso White Pre-Shave for Sensitive Skin (the one with Green Tea & Oatmeal) and it works WONDERS over many other pre-shaves that I've used, even next to the Cube 2.0 from PAA or the Razor Emporium Pre-Shave Bar. The only pre-shaves I really use are the Proraso, a Moisturizing Pre-Shave from the Grooming Dept. (Mojito Scent), and Van Yulay's Pre-Shave Oil (which is truly an all-natural pre-shave oil)...but the Proraso White is so slick that it turns around almost any shave that I have done and it is an invaluable tool in my shaving arsenal.
Got home not too long ago & found this on Amazon - “Yes, there was a formula change. Due to customer complaints they have went back to the old formula. I contacted CS in JAN. 2023 and that is what I was told” 🙂
You've been convincing me a lot about the Timeless brush, especially after I already own the Timeless Bronze razor. I already have a lot of brushes anyways, like about 7 brushes, so I'll have to look into it more.
Enjoyed the video! Just recently got the 6s (have been using the 6c) so I’m looking forward to doing my comparison. Like you, I have very coarse hair & sensitive skin. On a different note, I read somewhere that Nivea changed the formulation for their sensitive after shave balm - do you know if that’s valid?
It's definitely a great invention! Like the de razor makes your shave cheaper in the long run the same with this brush. The handle will last forever and replacement brushes are cheaper than buying a great quality brush by far..
I have never gotten a good shave from an adjustable razor. That's just me. I tried the viking blade emperor Augustus and Emperor Meiji and both were epic fails. I just stick to normal razors.
Yup. Totally agreed. I started off with the mild version because it was my first time switching over to DE razors. It was super easy to use, perfect for anyone switching over from cartridge. Then I recently got the medium because the mild was just taking a little too long for my shaves. I was surprised that the medium didn't really feel more aggressive than the mild. The medium was just as safe as the mild but way more efficient. By my second pass it was pretty close to BBS.
Hi David. I love your channel. Sorry to bother you today. I wanted to ask you about the timeless razor ti95 open comb. I have the exact same one you have. I noticed it came with a little guard or some plastic circle between the handle and the bottom plate. Just wanted to know if you have to keep it on? Do you use any type of oil for the threads to feel smoother when tightening or loosening the handle? If you do, what do you use?
I got the 2c and it’s smooth but did not see the reason to get the 6s or 6c I don’t shave up to 6 plate the 2c goes to a 3 and 1 which I shave on a 3 on adjustable razors anyway to the 2c Rockwell is perfect for me and it does shave incredible but the blades that come with it to me is horrible prefer perma sharp blades gives me the best shave or some Gillette DE blades work good too.
Finally telling us what is Peanut Clippers, about at ten minutes into the video! Something many people might not be aware is that some of the low budget close-outs retail stores have a few clippers (hair clippers, hair trimmers) at much, much, much lower prices than $80. You find them at about $10 to $20.
Could call, "Top 4"... You are showing and telling about (1) Multiblade disposable cartridges (2) Double Edge razors (3) Single edge razors, (4) Triple or multiblade non-disposable safety razors (the example being The Leaf).
Hey man love your videos! Which one would you reccomend for both head and beard shaving? I get horrible irritation on the neck with both my safety and cartridge. But i would also like bbs razor. Hope you can answer me.

Thanks for the new content! I'm new to wet shaving (about a month) and have been using a rockwell 6c with a nacet blade, change blades every two shaves, yet i always get irritation/alum block sting every shave on my whole face.. any tips? I shave every 3 days btw
@@OhioShaves thanks!, so far i have tried rockwell, sp platinum, nacet and king c, all are irritated by alum block, neck irritation has gone down with more practice though!
I have the 921-M in the as-machined finish, as I'm still relatively new I was hesitant to go with anything more aggressive. I'm really wanting to try the H plate now, will probably order the brass hybrid open comb/straight bar plate. The photos I've seen look amazing. Might also try the stubby handle since the stock one feels a bit too long. edit: dude, I cut myself in the exact same spot yesterday when I wasn't trying to shave the spot. even with the milder version, this razor just has profile that will nick you really easily if you just move it slightly wrong while NOT shaving. strange, but I still love it
After my shave I like to apply my witch hazel, and while my face is still wet with it run my alum block thereon. I figure: why waste water wetting the alum block when I already start my post-shave treatment with a liquid?
@@OhioShaves Ah. I don't really get that on my face, but then, by the time I finish rinsing out my lather bowl and brush, it's time to pat my face dry. Maybe my face is just weird.
I've been trying so many brushes in my Timeless Handle. It is awesome. You can try all the brushes for pennies compared to buying the whole brush. I want to try an Merica razor. It's on my list. Or should I get a build your on razor? Yates is on the agenda though.
