Mate thats so cool! Very interesting video, I've been waiting 10 years to see proper mods in a YD25 engine on youtube. Keep the good work and sharing your experiencie through this project
Wow, you guys are pulling out all the stops, nothing held back, no compromise, top quality gear and an impressive setup! This gets me more excited than I'd like to admit!!! 😜
Add an electronic throttle plate to it that only closes at 0 throttle input so you can dose that turbo setup off throttle but is otherwise fully open so as not to impede diesel operation. This should also prevent any possible runaways. You won't be able to turn it off if it DOES run away (at least until you can completely block the air intake), but at the very least it'll just sit there and idle instead of going balls out until it explodes.
I have been for years sick to death with all the shitty YD25 Navaras rolling coal everywhere because they were "Better for the enviroment" than the ZD30 and people think they go great. Now we see this little beast with a lot of custom work that actually looks doable for others, my hat is off to you and your crew buddy.
Me too but looks like a lot of money has gone knot it and I dont know where to get everything. And I’m already running 24 psi with current set up so if for some reason this set up is better then will try and do this.
Awesome! Could you recommend some top performance mods for my 2007 D22 Space Cab YD25? I ordered the 3" exhaust system from PPD Performance. Is there any benefit in dropping in a turbo charger if i'm not replacing the other parts like you did? What about a Pipercross induction kit? Thanks.
Niceeeee Build Guyss... I have a Nissan QD32.. so i want to get more power also i could "forge" the engine but i dont know were to find the compounents, you guys could suggest were i can find them.. And tank for the content.
Not meaning to be a no it all but you should have some flexible joint in the intercooler piping because of engine and chassis flex/twist. Other than that man sold setup
It's uses Wiggins clamps they have orings to make them seal and they have heaps of movement in them. We will eventually run around 50psi so that way they won't pop off as easy as silicon hose
I did engine overhaul on my YD25 D40 I seem to ve mixed up vacuum pipes and I need assistance on how to reconnect them because I'm not getting turbo boost. Please assist.
German dude what his done would not be suitable to newer models due to newer techs the young man us serving a purpose to whats possible with older generation enthusiasts
Can I ask, how much did this cost? It's so neat and id love it on my d22. I have a current turbo leak and will be replacing it soon with a bolt on, but you have mentioned that the inlet and outlet manifold have air flow flaws, so perhaps I'll look at that
Nice fab work and setup dude. Will go better with smaller diameter runners on your exhaust manifold, loosing turbo drive with it being such large diameter. What Aus state are you in?
Thanks Dude, Were located in brisbane QLD. We shaped the start of the runners so they matched perfectly to the square port on the yd25 head. But thats a good point, i should have paid closer attention to the exhuast port size compared to the runner size. Pretty sure it was 1 1/4 inch pipe which is pretty much the smallest option.
can you send me a quote on the exact same setup for my d22 my baby has done almost 400k and its time for a rebuild but i want her to have more power and this setup is exactly what im looking for
It's all custom made parts. If you have a fabrication shop near you they would be able to do all the manifolds and piping. The engine was pretty basic all OEM except for bearings, arp studs, duplex timing chain kit, billet oil pump and valve springs. If you live near brisbane G&l motor repairs could do it all for you.
I'll see how well this turbo goes. I wanna see if I can fit a G25 comp wheel in a standard D40 turbo housing and test that. That's way it would be more bolt on.
Hey bud, I’ve just got a high flow turbo, 3” straight pipe, plus 30 nozzles and I’m already running out of fuel on a high rpm run? Would you recommend a lift pump to help out or?
@@yd2532 not stock turbo, only a high flow but running 25psi, that’s what my tuner even said tho, it shouldn’t be running out of fuel but it’s almost as tho there’s a restriction from tank to pump but we can’t find anything, it’s fine 1st through to 4th but on a long pull full throttle in 4th or 5th it hits a safety mode and it corresponds to rail pressure dropping? Yes been tuned made 201hp aha
@@yd2532 but i heard the factory d40 only can boost 20psi . if i put boost controller and plugged into the fac controller how come can get highest boost ?
Never heard anyone make gains reliably with a cct. Happy to try one if someone wants to send one my way though, Can swap a turbo and get it on the dyno on a friday arvo
@@pollux2419 not sure what you mean. What I was trying to say was if you get a D40 turbo and manifold you can put them in your d22 as an easy turbo upgrade
Great engineering but......The video should really be titled, 'Let's blow a timing chain and snap my cast iron conrods with a turbo upgrade' These engines are not built or engineered for this amount of power and stress....and in time...they will kindly let you know that...in spectacular fashion. I'm not knocking the engineering, I think the work is great, however, I think more research should be done on the internals and load capabilities of these engines before advertising and selling these units....To be honest...I think it's rather irresponsible as a lot of people will end up with blown engines that they simply can't afford to rebuild.
engine has double row chains and factory rods are forged. We have a video showing the engine build. Customer of ours with the same engine specs is making 370whp and 1300nm and its still going after 20 000km. here is a link to his car ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rIqqF2G3HY0.html. On the next engine aiming for 400hp we will make some custom rods and a girdle.
