The port was the best thing put in me for chemo and herceptin treatments which saved my veins from being poked so much and risk then collapsing. But the port was protruding from my chest much like yours and it is a pain indeed as I had to be very careful about it and cannot hug my little boy. I had the port for two years and it was removed in Jan 2018. My surgeon punctured my lung accidentally during the port insertion because I was so skinny and I need another procedure to reinflate my lung. The port scar is still there but fading over time.
