The re-created faces of Roman Emperors Commodus, Pertinax, Didius Julianus, Clodius Albinus and Septimius Severus.
It all started with the assassination of Commodus the last emperor of the Nerva-Antonine dynasty which left a power vacuum.Later the revered Emperor Pertinax followed, which led to a power struggle between rival factions within the Roman army. Over the course of just one year, the Roman Empire saw the rise and fall of five different emperors, each with their own unique story and legacy.

I must say that the tech has improved nicely - this is the best work I've seen. Having these Roman Emperors appear as if in real life is like a dream for me. This is fascinating, to say the least. So many emperors were assassinated. I was relieved at the end while watching the Severus portion, but when his health failed and he died, my reaction was, "Oh no! They poisoned him!" lol

Wife Julia Donna and sister-in-law Julia Maesa would make a good Netflix series all by themselves. Domna was known for her interest in philosophy and intellectual topics; Maesa would continue the Severan dynasty by putting her grandson Bassianus (better known as Elagabalus) on the throne, having him AND his mother, her own daughter, shanked when they got too out of hand, and then replacing Elagabalus with his more compliant cousin Alexander (and Alexander’s smarter mother).

This guy videos sparked my interest in ancient Roman history. Shout out to Julius ceaser, Marius, sullah, Hannibal, the flavians, pertinax, the Gordians, Scipio, boudacai, gallianus, zenobia, basil ll, sulamane, alleric, attius, stilicho, majorian, alexios l komnenos, belisarius and king Richard. No shout out to ricimer also the ending to the whole fourth crusade movement.

Pertinax sounds like he meant well and tried to rule well; but I guess lesson one is Don’t PO the Praetorians. Anyone who has made financial mistakes in their lives can take heart that at least they are not Didius Julianus. Imagine going on Dave Ramsay’s show and saying “Well Dave, I made this bad investment…I paid 100 million dollars to be the Emperor of Rome, but they killed me after two months.” History is so fascinating, and I love how this channel brings it and the people who shaped it to life. Seeing them as looking like the people they were (or at least the closest we can get) rather than statues and abstractions really helps picture the era.

Very fascinating to watch this video clip every time as I am history lover... That is likely wonderful thing to know more of historical figures (Roman Emperors) in the end of 2nd century to the start of 3rd century or Year of the Five Emperors in Roman Empire history. In the Battle of Lugdunum (now Lyon in France) was hard to fought and bloodiest war between Clodius Albinus and Septimius Severus on 19 February 197: Clodius's body was stripped and head was cut off or beheaded- sent to Rome. Headless body rode his horse over it,then it was thrown into the Rhone River along those of Clodius's wife and his sons. 🆗️. Who was Pescennius Niger? By the way, I can be really happy to know how you are always motivated. As I am cordially proud of you! Thank you very much for big interests in Roman Empire history!! The 90%of the Roman population were tanned Mediterranean type just like George Clooney, Fazza prince, Salma Hayek, Gal Gadot etc,the pale Anglo-Saxons came to southern Europe when Roman falls in 1V A.C😮

Everybody get tanned in the Mediterenian Sun you Clown. The Roman/ Greek Men were often tanned undnder the mediterenian Sun. Woman were usually pale because they were mostly at Home. Clown. Indoeuropean Languages like Italic and Greek came from the North. Sueton about Caesar: excelsa statura, colore candido, teretibus membris, ore paulo pleniore, nigris vegetisque oculis. Candio means Pale.

What about the millions of slaves they brought from the north before that? Even during the time of the Republic some Romans from the political scene are described having fair skin and hair. The Mediterraneans are a mixture of many peoples. So you shouldn't use this binary way of thinking which is now destroying western culture.

Septimius was not only the Victor of the five emperors event but the only stable ruler of his own established dynasty that later rulers would make Rome unstable. And led it’s path towards crisis.
