@@TrimutiusToo How did you make Token DH work in duels? I've gotten most meme/weird duels builds to 12 at some point, but Token DH always got demolished once I started playing against burny decks when I couldnt hero power anything lmao
If it always went face it would be sooo much better, the problem is not it's fragility, it's that random 3 damage hits to minions on the board messes up the math too much
For some reason this new core set is giving me a warm feeling and making me want to play hearthstone again after not touching it for over a year. Maybe because I loved playing many of these cards in years past and seeing them back with buffs is like seeing old friends who have grown over time rather than being sad shells of the past?
the best time to start playing harthstone(besides when the game launched lol) is when a new core set is released. i'd highly recommend playing standard because the core set is so busted. i remember last time they introduced a new core set with Forged in the Barrens, i only played standard for 2 weeks, but i'm mostly a wild player. give it a shot, they'll give you a bunch of free card packs too
I think that the way the Immune keyword works is going to change, there was a leak about it last week. This would make sense as I don't doubt Blizzard would be afraid that this Jailer/Mal'ganis combo could be toxic in lower levels of play. From what I gathered, Immune should no longer prevent an opponent from targeting a minion. So you should be able to deal with Malganis with single target removals which greatly nerfs the jailer
This is also what the keyword always suggested: "immune minions can't take damage". It was never stated in the game that you can't target them, until you tried and realized the hidden immune power
The buff cracks me up given it was one of the longest complained about cards in Hearthstone. I'm not convinced it will see play, but I'm glad to have it back.
I like this sort of fine tuning with core set although I would like even more insight into the decision process behind it. Like do they suspect a bunch of taunt minions will play a key role in the meta sometime this year since they put Kayn and new and improved Black Knight in? Would be very interesting to hear. Seeing Hex at 3 mana just feels great and stat/mana tuning for underpowered older cards is awesome too, but I would wish completely new designs like the overheal package would get completely new cards and not cannibalize old designs even though they didn't see play before. I guess a silverlining there is if you still have those cards and they have to nerf them, you'll get a dust refund on previously unplayed cards.
My guess is that they'd be pushing taunt warrior sometime during the year and *just in case* that ends up being too good, they're putting in anti-taunt tech cards in the core set right now.
Oh my god the overload 1 on ancestral knowledge. I remember how all the way back in TGT Trump was complaining how it could’ve seen some play and would’ve been so much more interesting if it overloaded only 1, and now it’s here in all its glory
Old: "We really want to avoid adding too many keywords, it might confuse players." New: "TAUNT POISON SECRET RUSH MAGNETIC REBORN DORMANT DIVINESHIELD LIFESTEAL TRADEABLE!"
"Control Demon Hunter" has existed in a way, they have just had access to crazy win conditions (Il'gynoth, spell dmg spells, or even just face dmg with the scholomance cards) so I don't think an attrition DH will ever exist really
@@danang5 true, it still hurts his evaluations imo because he can’t evaluate the power when the pieces are all working together like intended. It requires almost an entirely different system for rating cards.
Radiant Elemental would be fine if they just added "*(Card cannot be reduced below 1)*" in his effect. In fact, this should be a default rule on all cost reducing card. Would have avoided the Antonidas+Apprentice incident.
What would be better is changing it so it only reduces *Holy* spells by (1). It solves the problem with most degenerate combos, plus is more flavorful to the card.
Honestly, apprentice+antonidas is such an iconic and fun combo that I'd be so sad if it was ever permanently patched out. There's something special about a storm of fireballs that just feels like old hearthstone.
I might be coping here, but I think a mech warrior with a taunt package could be viable. you could double ziliax in your with +1/+1 then magnatize it onto stuff etc. also how the hell is shadowstep still in the game with the disgusting combos that can be pullled off with the new stuff
Great video! I am personally looking forward on playing some pure &/ menagery Pala. Would also love to see you do another f2p with the new core set releasing!
I am so so so so excited for Mech Mage, even if we don't get new tools we still have the busted Mechashark and all other good Mechs from Sunken City, we only lost the minion that tutors Seafloor Gateway
Radiant elemental and brann rotation definitely necessary to the corset. Otherwise, this expansion didn't really seem interesting to me so I'm probably going to skip it.
i stopped playing hearthstone around 4 years ago and am just getting back into it. My question is why are cards that are already very strong and used commonly like concentration and babbling book getting buffed? Aren't there so many other bad cards that could get buffed?
Ragnaros will only see play in Jive Insect and Dr. Boom has been powercrept. Zilliax will only see play in mech decks and black knight might only see play as an ETC tech card.
I look forward to the return of Xmas tree rogue. I loved that deck in Uldum Also I'll point it out again, everyone needs to run AOE removal in your ETC sideboards
hilarious that they buffed all the discover cards except the warrior one, which wasnt particularly good even at the time, while all the others were lmao
If they end up nerfing Brann in wild with the supposed wild change later this year I think making his effect "Battlecry: Until the end of your turn, your battlecries trigger twice." I think it still thematically works, it can be used for some combos still but you also don't have to worry about leaving him on the board (unless you're playing against rogue which could bounce him back). Also I would probably make him a bit more expensive to play.
Both defile and Dr. Boom actually saw a lot of play. Dr. Boom sometimes even was referred to as “Dr. Seven” because Trump once won a championship game because the bombs went face for 3+4 damage which was lethal so it become a meme
@@djar6307 if you’re trying to insult me for being silly and using an old meme, It doesn’t really work when you use a dead meme yourself. You’re also clearly just mad you didn’t get the joke, deleting your comment like that.
I love Kayn, I never was against Aggro, I do agree that sometimes they become way to strong and do deserve nerfs, but I never had hatred against them as people usually have... My problem was always against super random BS that cannot predict, and Guff.
No paladin secrets helps stop the chaining quite a bit though because there's no 1 Mana Secrets in the pool. I think that the sheer number of bounce effects in Rogue's card pool is ridiculous though between 2 × Breakdance, 2 x Shadowstep, 2 × Cheat Death and 1 × Bounce Around (ft Garona) - gosh I get it's supposed to be a song title but the name is still ridiculously stupid.
16:09 Weren't you actually just wrong though? I'm looking at tempostorm's 2017-08-19 meta snapshot (Knights of the Frozen Throne) and it lists control warlock at tier 2 which does in fact include defile. Pretty sure that's not 1 star based on your system. "control warlock" didn't exist when you wrote the review is not a valid excuse because your analysis, if it was accurate, should have predicted that control warlock would exist.
I believe that was after some balance changes that made Control Warlock viable. Without that, Control Warlock wasn't played, and he was in fact correct in giving it 1 star.
Rogue's weapon, Demon Hunter's and Mage's pings and to lesser extent Druid's HP are nearly useless now with all this 1-2 and 2-2 for 1 mana. Paly's dudes and Death Knights' ghouls also less usefull now.
I just watched Kibbler's review and he said it's because it's too good otherwise to put in another weapon. You could even see this in Classic. Why put in Arcanite Reaper if you already have Fiery Waraxe?
@@SuddenReal ye maybe thats true, its just in such a weird spot now. loved the card back then and its sad to see it be so bad. but i think classic is a bad example since the powerlevel is so much lower
@@SuddenReal That's not really what he said. He said that 2-mana War Axe might be fine power level wise, but particularly for weapons which you have a limited number of in your deck, Fiery War Axe would just be boring as a powerful vanilla weapon, and making room for more interesting weapons is better.
@@RasmusVJS Yes, a 2 mana War Axe is good now, but it's too good. Why put in another weapon that's equally good but costs more when you can put in War Axe?
@@SuddenReal If they are equally good, then because it might fit your curve better? Either way, you said that that was Brian's argument, but that wasn't what he was arguing.
Very sad about Reno Jackson rotating for more boring legendaries. Hopefully some new highlander payoff can be introduced instead (imagine a Control Warrior Highlander card)
