The Swiss Committee for the Return of the Parthenon Marbles is pleased to release this new documentary film, produced by our Committee and directed by Gary Grenier. Many people are either misinformed or undecided about the need to reunify the Parthenon, a mutilated work of art and the major symbol of Europe's common cultural heritage. Our film will allow you to have an informed opinion.

Now that Greece has a wonderful museum to display and explain the Elgin Marbles, they should definitely be returned. If Greece would share other fascinating Ancient Greek artefacts then the British Museum could have this area reused for Classical Civilisation.

This is both heartwarming and absurd at the same time. It it good that a country should wish to reclaim it’s cultural heritage however the National Archaeological Museum in Athens owns a huge collection of rare and significant Egyptian antiquities, and the Benaki Museum also in Athens has Chinese, Islamic, and South American collections, should these too be returned to their places of origin? I’m British, and visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York last year and was amazed by all the pieces they have accumulated from around the world. Should they return their Greek marble statues too? Are they guilty of the same crimes? And if so can all antiques of British origin be returned us as well?

Sir, your casual comment is "absurd." The Parthenon marbles are an exception--Greece isn't asking for anything else back from Britain, except these, which surpass even equally beautiful objects of Greek patrimony.

Seems a simple issue to me. You want the return of the Elgin marbles. Problem is, someone else owns them. So what you have to do is recompense the current owners, by giving them a copy that is as good as the original. I'm sure the museum won't mind having copies of the original on display. Trying to shame them into giving the marbles to you is a far lesser path, though. And money can be easily had. If investing is closed to you, donations are an option.

British Museum denies copies.

No museum that is a member of the International Council of Museums (like the BM and most other known museums) "owns" its objects, but is only the safekeeper of them!

Stephan Brun Why would the Greeks make the copy ? Britain has them and Greece should make them a favor make a copy and then take it back ? If Britain wants them so much let them make the copy... You are demanding too much...
