The person who subbed this MUST GET AN OSCAR! 👍🏻😍 Also as I did mention earlier in previous vlogs this song is written by my father’s maternal uncle, late Shailendra.
First of all standing ovation to the subbers, threw the ball out of the park in this one. Second, this movie is actually a remake of It Happened One Night(1934?) and I think they have done justice to the film. Happy to say, this was my first ever classic film and I absolutely loved it! It's an adorable movie- fun, cute and romantic. I really like watching Raj Kapoor along with Nargis on screen, they're always great together. Honestly, this entire album is fab. I think u would really enjoy watching the clever picturization of "Jahan Main Jati Hoon".
Actually, there was a bengali film which was made before this one with the same story starring the pair of Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen. Later on, I think Dil Hai ki Manta Nahi was a remake of this same story starring Amir Khan and Pooja Bhatt
These songs were written by actual writers and poets, steeped in language, literature and culture. That's why they echo even today. Good job on the subs, since they are difficult to convey. This was a Hindi version of Frank Capra classic 'It Happened One Night', it is actually well done and has great music. For Raj Kapoor and Nargis, do Awara and Shree 420 first, definitely their best 2 classics. Nargis and Dilip did do films together, although those films are older, more 'dated' and will be more difficult to find in good quality with subs. Andaz starred Dilip, Raj and Nargis, big blockbuster of its time, but like most Mehboob Khan films (like Mother India), its second half has not aged well. It does have a great Dilip Kumar performance, and the other 2 actors are excellent as well.
Dilip Kumar was great, but I think the movie got a life after Raj Kapoor entered. A lot of people troll his performance without realising that he did exactly what was required - play a borderline jerk.
Oh I think all actors are well cast and excellent here, but OSR has been asking about Dilip so I commented from that perspective. Does anyone troll Raj for his role, I didn’t know. In fact after this film came out many critics thought he overshadowed Dilip. DK & RK are very different actors, Dilips performances especially in the earlier work are more internalized and RK was more known for his filmmaking. So I think people were surprised how good he was. But watching now knowing the whole body of work of these actors is different. RK was underrated as an actor and quite natural when not doing the Chaplin thing. So I think he is great but don’t agree with the perception that he stole the show. He did have the more difficult job in second half and revealing his jealous side gradually is a surprise. I agree everyone did exactly what they were supposed to and very well. Even Nargis was great as a superficially modern but ultimately weak woman who gradually comes undone. Unfortunately MKs films always suffered from the second half syndrome. So this technically excellent film with great actors in their prime, good music and interesting idea devolves into BW era melodrama in last 30 min. Otherwise it could have made it into league of other great classics.
Raj Kapoor was already global star at this time. USSR, Turkey and Middle East was crazy for him. Even today if one asks any random person from these countries about India, they would probably sing "Awara hoon". Greatest showman of Bollywood.
True... Only 3 actors rather stars who have been able to reach that level of Global dominance are Shri Raj Kapoor, Shri Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Sir. These not only represent the film industry rather the image of the entire nation.
@@raju123ban all raj kapoor movies were blockbusters in soviet union which included russia along with dozen other countries even awara was a big hit in china
So true.....even in today’s generation here in NY, people always bring up the name of Raj Kapoor and sing Awara Hoon. I’m sorry, it’s not Amitabh or SRK, it Sri Raj Kapoor Ji’s name that they bring up.

Those shimmering harmonics in Lata's voice!!! Especially when she sings the ee vowel. Gosh, what vocal resonance. My music teacher describes it as if someone rang a bell. A silver bell I would say. ☺️
Wish if you had reacted on one of the other song from the same movie. The song is "Aaja sanam madhur chandani mai hum" as that song is even better picturised and better in every way
Beautiful song plus the picturisation so deeply soothing, the subtitles are also extraordinarily done. Why i didn't hear about this gem of a song till now, will add to my playlist.
As far as I know, most of the songs of the golden era these guys have reacted to are composed by Shankar Jaikishan. That's the power of Shankar Jaikishan's music, but looks like people have forgotten their name and contributions. Nerds of hindi film music would agree Shankar Jaikishan were the original rockstars of Hindi film music and their popularity was more than the biggest stars of the day.
Hats off to blahwoman, beautiful subs, learned a new word Esperance meaning hope/dream/fantasy And kudos on the choice of song, these are classics, they hit u on a different level
Why every forget to remember the Great Music Directed SANKER JAIKISAN. The songs are living 60_70years ,and the people want to hear SANKER JAIKISAN composition.Thanks.
Great job on the subs. These songs had real poetry sometimes disassociated with the subject of the movie but such masterpieces in terms of writing that they are unmatched till date.
This song was written by Shailendra. It was his birthday yesterday. He was Dalit. And also gave the slogan "Zor Zulm Ki Takkar Me Sangharsh Hamara Nara Hai"
There are many youngsters who are aware of songs from golden era of Hindi Movies but they are not motivated enough to enjoy the movies like that of well-known actors , directors, music composers . So, by your reactions may do the job ! Thanks for selecting such evergreen gems of songs,
I loved how they used the guitar rhythm to get the vocals of Manna Dey started and then the percussion just casually blended in. This shows real class.
Beautiful song... awesome lyrics by late Shailendra.....and Shankar Jaikishan music, manna Dey and Lata Mangeshkar.... perfect..... It's mostly Shailendra ji s lyrics which are so simple and with amazing depth of meaning....his control over language (Hindi, Urdu, Bhojpuri...) Is impeccable.....he left too early....
Well, you get what you ask!! Dilip Kumar and Nargis in one film... It's the 1949's "Andaz"! This is the film that gave us the iconic photo of the handsome Dilip Sa'ab, that was roaming around on social media platforms due to his sad demise. P.S. Through "Andaz", you will also be hitting on Raj Kapoor! So, it's a 3 via 1 shot!
Raj Kapoor and Nargis have one of the most loved pairs on silver screen by the Indian audience till date. Chori-Chori is one of the classical dramas played by Rajji-Nargisji and songs are really amazing...movie is worth watching - #Moshy
The golden era of Hindi cinema had stellar lyrics written by poets for the movies, and amazing composers and singers, this song is a prime example of this.
thanks a lot reacting to one of mah favourite song and guess whats its raining in jaipur when i am watching your reaction of song which i always listen whenever it's raining thank you guys.
When I receive the notification for this video I was very excited but at the same time I was wondering about the subbing...such an intense poetical song ...one of my favourite... Kudos to Blahwoman or Rohan for catching the feelings behind the lyrics in your subbing...You should really get an Oscar for this 👏👏👏 Thank you so much Rohan ...it's because people like you they can understand and feel the sentiments behind this songs ❤️❤️ love as always for Rock and Korbin ❤️
