Im new to Christchurch an i dont get why the bottles and glass cant have lids when they are plastic or aluminium also... Hence "plastic & aluminium goes in the yellow bin" which is wrong not all goes in recycling bin... So why is this a thing? In auckland it was all recyclable stuff... Lids and all
Not sure if many people know you can recycle your coffee capsules. There are places like Trees for Canterbury, that have boxes that get sent to Auckland for recycling once full. So don't put them in your red bin but save them up and drop off at your closest point which can be found on Nespresso's website.
I feel this video merely highlights how much cannot be / is not recycled which shows the bigger issue lies in the packaging - not just how we dispose of it once made. A cradle to cradle approach to a products lifecycle is required rather than cradle to grave (landfill). Glass, aluminium & tin should be the only non compostable options available & governments should be investing more resources into R & D to ensure economic, environmentally viable solutions are achieved now & FOR the future.
It’s because some people aren’t even caring, people these days around NZ just dump stuff in the bins, and even worse most drivers are careless about what was in the bins, like I live in Invercargill and I’ve seen the neighbours bins filled with dusty stuff and building materials. The driver didn’t even care
Umbelivable , we will need to get a degree soon to understand what the heck you want from the public anymore . You just found an incredibly lucrative business for yourselves in recycling at the public expense . You should give reimbursement for all the stuff we already paid for , why should you get it free and even have the cheek to charge collection rates ? What are council rates for ?
