@@immortalgamingyt6182 the color pattern only. If you look closely, you'll notice everything else is different. First and foremost is the way they fly. Their head, mainly the eyes, look different as well. And then the shape of the body, and legs. From then, you'll never be confused again about the two. I kept seeing these around the outside garden chasing bees and flies, so I looked them up and been fascinated ever since. All in all, yellow jackets aren't friendly. Be safe.
This is the only hover fly ever to appear on a US postage stamp! It is gorgeous, and not dangerous to humans. I would like to know how you managed to keep your camera focused on this! I am in NH, and this species does not come this far north. I would love to get to see one of these hover flies some day. Thanks for putting up your wonderful movie of this!!
