Kevin Costner shocked "Yellowstone" fans earlier this year by deciding he wanted to quit the series. Now, show creator Taylor Sheridan is breaking his silence to The Hollywood Reporter about "Yellowstone" ending with the upcoming second half of its fifth season and Costner's exit.

I have a true story for Sheridan, in a small Texas town near where George strait was born, it's a story of a Portuguese man and a sub-saharan African woman in the 1800s that was on my father's side 🥰

Yellowstone was only supposed to be a couple seasons, it was popular so they started creating more seasons. Kevin Costner only wanted to do a couple seasons and move on to do his own thing.

So where does that leave Yellowstone. It sounds to me like he plans on continuing that chapter of the story. If he wants Kevin to have a respectful exit then sure he will need him back to fill those scenes. Also if the plan was to not have John Dutton I the story before the end of the show then why was there such a big fuss made of Kevin not being around so much.

I think someone is thinking they are the star 🤔there are levels and now the series is being stopped and the huge star isn’t even going to be in 2nd part of season 5 ., what Kevin wanted didn’t seem that much considering what he’s done for the series , wish you all the Luck with your new western Kevin !!!!!!!

I find incredibly funny that people are blaming Taylor for doing more shows. For one it shows that they really don't know how Hollywood works. It's Paramount that tells him that they're interested in more shows and then pays him alot of money to develop their shows. Secondly Taylor is getting 100s of millions of dollars to develop those shows. Yeah I wouldn't have turned it down either Lol. Now if you're bummed out by the direction Yallowstone has taken i understand that. Id disagree but I understand it. But instead of blaming the other shows for the direction that you don't like did you ever take time to think that maybe this was the general direction that he meant to take the show to begin with and stuff that people didn't like for instance the scenes advertising 1883 in S4 was filler content because covid shut down most productions everywhere for a bit and they couldn't do planned storylines because they probably couldn't use some people or locations or whatever so they used the 1883 stuff because most of it could be shot on the four 6s ranch? Same with the Jimmy storyline.

@@tvshowmemes-jt8ebit's called a developmental deal for a reason. Paramount orders them and pays him to write and develop them. It's actually Paramount that decides what Taylor works on. Oh and 1923 didn't end its set up for a season 2. This stuff is on Google and easy to find out you can just Google 1923 and read any article about season 2.

Beautifully crafted stem to stern. The historical/hidden untruthes about Native peoples is important, revavent and heartbreaking in equal measure. (My paternal Grandmother was a full blood Choctaw Medicine Woman whom I've never met. I'm fair skinned & I lay no claim to a Culture without indoctrination, but I feel proud none the less). Taylor Sheridan is all about Taylor Sheridan at the end of the day. I swear it's like watching the rise and fall of Kurt Sutter all over again. Remember him and the "little" show that made him a sought after writer? Once "Sons of Anarchy" wrapped up Sutter tried really hard to get people excited about his other projects, but he was met with limited success. I see the same thing happening to Taylor Sheridan; he should be cautious about burning bridges because he might need them later. As it is, now that I know that Costner has left "Yellowstone" I am done with watching Taylor's shows.

While I see the similarities, Taylor has had more success before and after Yellowstone compared to KS. I personally totally respect Sheridan's decision to punch above his weight, if that's even the case.

Taylor is far more successful than Kurt Sutter has ever been. Taylor left 'Sons of Anarchy' Because he thought he could do better. And he was right. Paramount recently gave him a $200 Mil deal.

Sheridan has become an ego maniac. It was Kevin Costner that made Yellowstone a hit! He will ruin this golden opportunity. I am the mother of a young director/writer/producer that is talented. The opportunities are far and few between. He should be embarrassed. No Kevin, No Yellowstone.

With no Taylor, there's no Yellowstone. At that point, Kevin Costner's career wasn't exactly booming. Last time I saw Kevin in a movie, he was commiting suicide in front of his wife and kid (Clark Kent) by walking into a tornado to chase after a dog.

@daveclark8337 it's true I dare say it's Sheridan that made Costner popular again. His career the last decade is not something to brag about. While Sheridan has an ego those projects have been monumentally successful. And 1923 in my opinion is already superior to yellowstone.

@@tvshowmemes-jt8eb Taylor originaly was in talks with Robert Redford and HBO. Then one of those HBO execs left to head Paramount and he wanted the show. By then Redford had signed on to another project. Costner didn't have much going on career-wise 6 years ago, just supporting roles here and there, so he jumped on it.

With all due respect, Mr. Sheridan, accordiong to your interview on CBS Sunday morning funny how you said a lot of the horses in the business are "terrible" you must have never heard of the double six Ranch in Apple Valley California led by Master Horseman / trainer Ty nitti, him and his team have never had a single accident/injury on and off set. Please do your research before you open your mouth and say other horses in the business are terrible and Unbroken. I've said my peace.
