I first visited Yellowstone 70 (that is not a typo!) years ago. It is still about my favorite place on this ole planet Earth. I remember being able to feed the bears; and in fact, bleachers were set up behind the Old Faithful Inn and after dinner service the garbage was brought out for the bears. It was the evening's entertainment. This went on until sometime in the 60s. It has changed a lot in some ways, and in others not at all. Your efforts on all of your videos, itineraries, and guides is phenomenal! One thing to maybe add that those of us who live in the Mountain West take for granted but someone from the states east of the Rockies might need to know is that the entire park is at a high altitude. Acclimate the first day if you have flown in. Drink lots of water. Rest. Altitude sickness is not fun, and will certainly impact one's enjoyment and ability to see the sights. Happy travels and thanks again for your efforts to help folks love Yellowstone as we do!

Amazing! Thanks for sharing Cindy. You’re right about the high altitude. I have forgotten to mention that. Also I will do a video someday soon about the history of bear feeding in Yellowstone. I’m jealous you got to have that experience!!

@@WereintheRockies I just read an excellent kid friendly book about this history with my son. Is an “I Survived” book, I Survived The Attack of the Grizzlies, 1967, by Lauren Tarshis, about the practice of feeDing the bears and how that led to 2 deaths in Glacier National Park and led to the change in how garbage is contained and keeping campsites, picnic areas clean to not attract the bears or any animal. I highly recommend the book to anyone interested in the history. My son is 6, and was a little scared, but I was happy I read it with him. Love to learn more about the parks!

I already want to return and actually teared up when we drove out of the park for the last time. So many wonderful memories with my family. I'm planning a trip for June and have my campsite reserved in Grant Village. Thanks for all the information it will be helpful. I was 3 or 4 years old when my parents took the family for a vacation to Yellowstone. That was back in the days when the bears got handouts. As the story goes one bear decided to get up on the hood of the car. Well Dad got his closeup view with nature and an earful from Mom. We all survived even Dad and the bear, great memories to remember and share.

Just returned from Yellowstone National Park and Grand Tetons, it was a great trip. Your videos were quite helpful in planning my trip. Though I was there from end of July to first week of Aug, 2021, overall I did not face any major issues. As we are not morning people, somehow took a chance and left around 09 or 09.30 am and most of the park attractions visited between 10.30 am and 02:00 p.m, but we were able to find parking, in some places for example like Norris Geyser Basin, it is always crowded, I only had to wait in the parking lot for about 5 minutes or so even during peak hours. Instead of parking on the road side, I proceeded into the parking lot , just need to wait few minutes, you would get a spot, thought this might help others who are planning to visit the Parks during peak times, no need to be panic. Similarly enjoyed multiple visits to the Hayden Valley where we watched more wildlife close in close vicinity rather than Lamar Valley. Could not spot any bear mostly Bison. Everyone mentioned they could not spot bear even after miles of hiking in some of the longer interior trails, but luckily spotted a bear with two cubs after the boat ride in the Grand Tetons, that was the only time. One of the roads from Canyon Lodge to Lamar valley was closed so had to drive almost 90 miles. Instead I would recommend Hayden Valley much closer and much nicer and recommend Hayden Valley for those who are on tight schedule. Also we could find accommodation inside the Park, just booked two weeks before, unfortunately I got in different lodges inside the Yellowstone, but once I reached there, they were helpful and accommodated in two lodges rather than 4 lodges as it get's tough to check in and check out every day, I stayed 3 nights in Canyon Lodge and one night in Old faithful Inn. In Grand Teton I stayed in Coltor Bay Village Cabins. I was pretty impressed with Tetons as well. Just wanted to share my experience and thank the Rockies for their helpful videos. If anyone needs any latest information or questions, feel free to post, will try to answer. Only bad experience, there was a road trap as I followed google maps from Rapid City to Cody and that route at the Manderson, WY, there were no signs, that road suddenly drops speeding limit from 70 or 65 to 40s and 30s, passing through some small village towns (population less than 150) corps hide there and trap and I got a traffic ticket issued, I have been a careful driver, I never got a traffic ticket in years, but here they have been targeting out of state drivers, so beware of this those who are driving into Cody via RT 31 (don't follow the google shortest route, rather continue straight instead of taking a turn). I read several stories later found out that Manderson, WY has been notorious on this.

Hi guys- enjoyed your video. We live in Wyoming and enter through the west gate. We stay in Cody in the cabins down the street of the Irma hotel. Eat breakfast at irma’s on your way out of town.We have pulled the the trailer and camped on Cody.if someone goes to Cody make sure to go to the Cody museum- it’s an all day visit. When we would pull the trailer into the park we camped at Fishing bridge- it was great. We have stayed at Roosevelt lodge in the little cabins which supposedly fit four-if you want water in the cabin, make sure to ask. What was nice was it’s a short ride to Lamar valley- go early in the day.if there is anyone with with a camera and binoculars out stop and ask what they see. Eat a hamburger in cook city and buy a tshirt- mine is almost warm out. Old faithful inn we stayed 2 nights. We asked for a bath which might be the only way we would get a room with a bath.we stayed in august or early September. The room was small but worth it. Check out James’ paintings in the lobby. There is so much to see - in June it snowed closing part of the lower loop. We did a last minute reservation at mammoth. It was a 2 bedroom cabin without bath facilities which were down the back of the cabins after Labor Day- I think. Stayed at best western in west Yellowstone and it had great rooms - all rooms with baths. Ant wait to go back! Thanks!

Another little town south of the Tetons is DuBois- say it just like it looks- we stay at the two pine inn and eat breakfast across the street. Ride the gondola in Jackson- the place is kind of expensive. They have a huge super market

My husband and I are just in the beginning stages of planning a trip for next summer (July 2022) to see Grand Tetons Yellowstone Glacier and then the Badlands. I am so glad I found your RU-vid channel and website. I’ve never planned a road trip this big before. I know the information that you have is going to be so helpful for us.

No need to break the bank!! Tours are super expensive and Yellowstone takes 3-4 days to see it. You can do this without a tour guide, I promise! I think you’ll find our guide makes it WAY more simple for you.

I am currently 78, and i was about age 5 when my folks first took me to Yellowstone. My next trip was 1972, on my Honda 450, just out of college.. Next was 1978 and with my wife of one year., my last was 2004 with two friends from the Philippines. I've got to get back at least one more time as I have my SENIOR Nat'l Park Pass and I haven't used it yet. I really enjoyed your Cody, Wy. video. Dennis, Janet's husband.

We are going to Yellowstone this weekend, but sadly only have one day! Gonna just drive along the west side of the loop then back out the west side. Probably only stop to see two or three (Mammoth, Prismatic and Old Faithful) big attractions and whatever wildlife we come across on the road. I hope we can do it in a day! I wish we had planned for more time, but we are road tripping to Zion, Grand Canyon and back up north via Redwood Ntnl Forest! Will definitely plan a longer dedicated trip in the future!

In Gardiner, be sure to stop at the Tumbleweed Bookstore for a delicious cup of coffee and many breakfast items. Cute place and usually not too crowded. (I worked in Mammoth during the summers and would frequent this coffee shop; I have no affiliation with it). :-)
