You should restore it back to the street rod it once was! Regain / Retain it's former glory! If you want another baja, you can always find a real beater rust bucket to build a baja.

I love how those old bugs sound. Like they are powered by a souped up bubble machine and when you step on the gas bubbles fly out of the exhaust and linger in the air at the stop light after you've pulled away.

Really nice super. My buddies have a deck lid for that probably if you dont have one. (CHEAP) Put a rear tin on it so it wont run hot.

the first bug I bought was a 1972 1302S same red color as yours had it for a couple of years and then i traded up to an 1956 callook and i still got the callook 25 years later :). oh don't change the bug keep it as is because it's a time capsule of how u did things back in the day :) :)

Haha “tuners”. Those are called parametric equalizers or EQ’s. They were all the rage in the 80’s. They allow some “tuning” of the sound signal by specific frequencies. That is the time frame all those cal look mods were done so not surprising to see on that particular car.

I used to paint my old cars up nice and pretty. Now I just drive them the way the paint is. More enjoyable and drive em everywhere without worrying about scratches. That's the whole point. She's a beaut the way it is. Have fun.

Nice find!! I have a similar fan shroud running an external cooler and if you are moving it was fine. Had to kick the fan on in stop and go traffic but this dub has a little more motor so it may run hotter.

Those are stereo equlizerse..adjust the sound in fine incriments. And one piece windows where never a iotioy in any bug..it's aftermarket glass

my first car was a light blue 1973 super beetle. i wish i still had it, i like all the cars y'all have.

you guys should do a spray can rust oleum paint job on the dust buggy. They can get really good views. you can use spray max clear over it just let it dry pretty good then put the clear on. And it will last pretty good. That clear has a hardener in it so it will make like orange or bright colors last. Could be a big video for your channel.

still have my 2275 or 2.3Lts with DRLA 40 /36mm venturis had 253K miles since 1984 rebuild in 2004 with new pop top alum block still have total seal piston rings and now put in A/C with a 14 gallon petrol tank jeff Gordon bought me i drove to Diego from AZ once a month for years about 41.5 MPG highway low compression. and 3.88 tall gears meep meep ....prices are getting crazy up there for any VW bis/bug/Ghia etc....

Dammm, a 1972 Super Beetle with 8 spoke Empi/American Racing Aluminum Rims. Michelin xzx Tires at least in the front there.... Those were great tires for day

I had one long time ago. I cut it up for Baja look and later regretted I did very much. This car looks way to good to do a Baja look. I'd make a sleeper that's a reliable and fun original appearing car. Good luck, be careful out there, Peace-N- Love...

I bought my '73 Super when I retired from UPS, this guy's got it backwards.

I have a 74 1303 S Beetle but it's right-hand drive. I live in Tacoma so i'm looking for a VW specialist to rebuild the engine, replace the floorboard and the driver side lower control arm :)

Nice find, 😀. External oil coolers are a bad idea on street cars. Those only work on race cars where the car is constantly moving. All that hose, cooler, even that electric fan is making the engine work harder. Which is easier, sucking honey through 3 feet of drinking straw or sucking honey through 8 feet of garden hose? It puts more load on that tiny oil pump. Get rid of all that external "cooling" and fit a type 4 oil cooler inside the stock fan shroud, the modification is easy. Good luck with it.

50’s 60’s bugs looked the best, they went downhill at least appearance wise in the 70’s. Nothing cooler than an old rear split or oval screen. Prices were getting ridiculous even for rubbish though.

Man when I seen those spider rims I went back to the 80s had 74 super beetle canery yellow with the rims painted the same yellow with high bucket seats . The engine was a 1964 cc 84cranke ,135cam with stock 88pistons that engine never got hot because the stock pistons were thick so can drive all day 44webbers 4tune mufflers sounded nice one day well have that beetle again with same engine. waaaapp you know what I mean
