I attended a Yes concert last summer and saw two kids there around 14 and 15. I thanked them for attending and bringing the overall average age down to 61.
Ah Yes, the great Yes Schizm of 2008. That other Yes is weak now. Alan can't play drums any longer, Chris is gone, and Jon Davison is not Jon A. Geoff's cannot match Wakeman's ability to play the Wakeman parts and Steve's playing are just not the same.
@@djmarkuss333 Exactly! If Anderson, Wakeman, Howe, White (If he feels better), and someone with Chris Squire chops, I would probably go see them. A guy can dream, right?
Thanks for sharing.👌 John voice is something incredible - still sound fresh and high after so many years - 🤯 1.Cinema 0:15 2.Perpetual change 2:29 3.Hold On 10:00 4.South side of the sky. 17:10 5.And you and I. 26:12 6.Lift me up - 37:00 7.Rtythm of Love 43:50
"Cinema" is an instrumental by the progressive rock band Yes, from their 1983 album, 90125. In 1985 it won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance, the band's only Grammy.
I keep finding these gems! Thank you for your work. Yes is my favorite band of all time. It is kind of convoluted now, but to see the three core members playing together is simply wonderful. Sadly, this version of the band is no longer. Breaks my heart. But we have these memories of what could have been.
Reason i like rick wakeman ...because of the capes he wears...jon anderson has that unique voice ...trevor a damn good guitar player...and sadly underrated
Thanks for sharing ! Jon & Rick are my most favourite. It’s a shame Steve was not here . But that’s life we all move on, and go our own way in life. We are very lucky see this , I grow up with Yes all the way back to 1972 with Close to the Edge, and after hearing it I had to buy all their albums from the time they started. So Close to the Edge is 46 years old,, and the band Yes is a lot older than that. Not many band can follow that ! So thank your lucky stars we still have this today with 2 Yes bands playing. Our great YES music!
Thank You for taking the time and energy to capture this as you have! Most remarkable and the band is looking stellar and the location, WOW! When Listening in high quality headphones, it's really pretty sweet! 🎧 ♥️
South Side of the Sky was what I was waiting for and did not have to wait long! Concert brought my spirits higher than I expected. Still on a buzz... Side note: hilarious that men's bathroom had a line and women's was free and clear.
Jeez, the amount of negative comments is disturbing. This is one of the best renditions of yes tunes live I've witnessed in a long time. I enjoy the set list and this line up knocked it out of the park. Yes I love Squire, Howe and Bruford, thing is, they are not playing at this show. For goodness sake enjoy what you can of what's left of Yes and get off your fucking high horse. Oh and thank you for recording and uploading this gem!
I Agree! I saw ARW back in Nov. 5th 2016, at the Chicago Theater, and they were Sensational! I hope a DVD/Blu ray of one these shows comes out soon! Plus a CD of New stuff!!!
My 3 favorite members of Yes- I got several of Wakeman solo material including his greatest hits also got a Trevor Rabin solo CD- never really followed Anderson solo career. also like Bruford- I got some of his solo material and his own groups ( Bruford and Earthworks) and groups he was in ( U.K. and King Crimson).
Yes isn't about individuals. I'm a big Squire fan and I love Anderson's voice. For me this a great Yes show even if Howe isn't there… Lee Pomeroy is perfect. The music stays great. I love it.
I love all you fans talking about what is what is not Yes. Rick Wakeman has said for years and years that he expects the Yes name to become like the New York Philharmonic. He says that other members agree with him. They want the name to continue with younger musicians and new members well after the current musicians retire and die. I fully expect there to be a Yes 70 years from now. Yes has had so many members that it only makes sense. It's not a BAND. It's a CONCEPT of music, and as Rick says, the members who are in the band at a particular time will have the responsibility and task to carry the Yes music forward into the future. BTW - if it weren't for Trevor Rabin and what he did for Yes in the 80's, Steve Howe wouldn't be playing in any version of Yes right now. The band was DEAD before 90125 gave the Yes name the massive boost it needed to move forward to where it is still playing today. He's been as important as any other member of the group. Musically, I love "I Am Waiting" every bit as much as "Heart Of The Sunrise." It's all fabulous. And I can't wait to see what young, budding musicians do with the Yes name in the future. They could all blow our minds and take the music beyond "Fragile" and "Close To The Edge."
I don't buy it. The Steve Howe band sounds like a tribute band, which all it will be when Steve, Jon and Rick have passed on. At some point, the fans won't buy tickets anymore and that will be that.
Thanks for uploading both parts. This is my comment I posted on part 2: I saw ARW -Oct 2016- at the Keswick, near Philadelphia. Blown away from the concert, 10th row. They looked great, sound was incredible, and Jon Anderson sounded better than ever! (I was a little disappointed though in the setlist that nothing from Talk was not being performed). It appeared that this new tour was just a repeat of last year- UNTIL NOW- on this video (Thank you for uploading!) First time I'm hearing this - "I am waiting" (since seeing Yes playing on the Talk tour in 1990 (with the original lineup on the record- Anderson, Rabin, White, Kaye and Squire- (Billy Sherwood was also on the record and tour). Based on what Trevor Rabin said during the interview before their ARW tour, they were planning on playing Shoot High Aim Low- one of their best songs, IMHO. He added there is enough songs to play at least 4 hours. No problem! You know Roundabout and All Good People are mainstream commercial and obligatory for old and new fans, but after seeing it done live over 20 times, I wouldn't be upset having it deleted and replaced with more tunes from Talk and Big Generator- the ones Trevor Rabin helped create. Perhaps as they are rehearsing the songs they haven't played for years, they will be playing the more complex music- Shoot high has some fantastic guitar work from Trevor, including the riffs with the twanging effect. Between that and their super musicianship, the slightly different variations they're giving to the songs they've been playing live, and Wakeman's even more layered keyboards, coupled with acoustically perfect venues- It's tempting to see then again- except for the insane ticket prices. (I lucked out when i went to the box office and got excellent seats at face value). They still haven't performed any of the new music they apparently have been working on. Nonetheless just seeing this band-the real Yes is mesmerizing. No doubt, they're here to stay!
I was at their concert in Warsaw yesterday. Although they made some mistakes while playing (tbh Jon completely butchered "And You and I", as he wasn't able to sing half of the lyrics), it was still a great experience seeing my favourite band live for the first time. Even though i felt like they skiped some of the songs i was expecting (such as Starship Trooper or Siberian Khatru), but most the things they played were great, and at least they had much fun playing them, unlike deadly serious mr. Howe's band.
Bill doesn't want to be on the road and said he kind of has stage fright now lol. I think he's happy and doesn't want loads of vids on youtube with people saying "it don't sound nuff'n what roundabout in 72 sounded". He's happy with his legacy.
When I saw them there seemed to have been a lukewarm response(at best)for anything they played that wasn't recorded in the seventies. Also, there didn't seem to be hardly one in attendance under 50(aside from myself).
I wish Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman, Bill Bruford, and (either Tony Levin or Geddy Lee on bass) would tour. It would be more like Yes than that other band claiming to be Yes!
It pains me to see so many empty seats :/ saw them in September at the NJPAC and I couldn’t see one seat not filled! They are such a great band and put on a fabulous show... they deserve to be sold out every show they do!
I will love Yes in whatever configuration they have----- I have to say that Yes featuring ARW plays much tighter then the current YES lineup with Steve Howe-and I LOVE Steve Howe------- I would so much love to see them all do a Union tour again for the 50 years.... Put all the bullcrap aside....
Is this a "How many YES reunion tours are there now?" question? Do I have to see ALL of them or just the ones with surviving members? It's kinda gruesome to think someone is profiting on the "see them before someone else dies" theory. I saw them 3 times with Anderson, White, Howe and Squire (in varying configurations during the 70s and 80s) and I don't think seeing them again is going to be just as satisfying. It's like the third act of "This Is Spinal Tap" when they broke up.
Looking forward to new material from this amazing talent; maybe that is what Trevor needs to meld in also; Lots of potential here; great rythm section!
Ain't that the truth?! I do love Howe's original compositions, performances, and contributions to YES music, but truly Trevor can run circles around Steve's guitar work. And he's a bit of a better vocalist, too. ;-)
Your video is far superior to the one I shot. Thanks. In a perfect world you could turn the white balance down - usually stage shows have bright lights (that is why all the performers look white here). It took me a while to figure that out. Well done though.
Beautiful venue and ARW(Yes) , Howes' Yes is as Anderson said 'not too good')!! Anderson, Rabin, and Wakeman are the surviving 'Yes'!! Howe is a great musician🤩 but an egotist 🤔! He needs to be with ARW not a bunch of 'hired hand posiers'.
YES was never just one individual but there are faces in this outfit that have never played with YES and are yet to do so. The right to the name YES is not with ex members but remains with the currrent line up. With the departure of Peter Banks YES became a band of constant changes. To say this is YES is an insult to the memory of Chris Squire.
Saw this line up in Nottingham UK this summer. Rick W amazing , I'd never really liked or appreciated Jon A, but he sang his heart out for someone so small I don't know how he gets his power. So I humbly apologise Jon A. But watched Steve Howe the year before was only 15 feet away his mastery of his many guitars is unique. Never thought I would see them live when I was a young teenager listening to The Yes Album in bed with headphones round my neck. Boyhood dream realized.
They need to combine the 2 current versions of Yes with this lineup: Jon Anderson-vocals Steve Howe-Guitar Rick Wakeman-Keyboards Billy Sherwood-Bass Alan White-Drums
That line-up would be great but unfortunately I think Alan is in no shape to carry on. It's sad, I saw them here in Orlando less thatn a month ago and it seemed that he can hardly walk. I understand he had back surgery. Sooo sad.
Poor attendance, saw then in Manchester and they are 1. The best version of Yes in 2017 and 2. One of the best Yes lineups ever. Please Yes fans go and see them, they were amazing.
odreamsivenday Would it be OK with you if I worked on the sound quality of this video, it desperately needs EQ adjustment. I'm the guy who recently uploaded their new song "Fragile". I have a recording studio and can really make this recording sound way better.
I was supposed to be here. The day before, I had fallen on two hardwood chairs and hurt my neck. (I have Parkinsons. I bruised the side of my head. I lost track of time for a day and missed the concert! I called and the ticket seller (AXES/ticketmaster) refused to work with me. "You should've called us the day of..." WELL, DUH, IF I COULD HAVE... I save for these special occasions and save my birthday $! 😭😳😵 I was out almost $600.00.l with VIP. My so-called friend didn't check on me, either until after the concert. I:5 One less friend, #concussion, and a promoter with no heart... .
Although I loved the show that I saw of this band in Philadelphia, and love this, as well, this sounds less like YES than the Steve Howe YES (official) band. I'm happy I can see both of these groups, but YES (original) has the more authentic sound, despite having no original members. (Ducking for cover, now)
They sound like three full-on Yes musicians hanging loose and serving up some great material without worrying if they are note-for-note recorded versions. Leaving Alan aside, the quasi-legitimacy of everyone besides Steve pretty much reduces them to tribute band stand-ins, IMO. When I saw them later that week however I realized, this is basically the platform Steve needs/wants to do his own brand of Yes, which is basically what your are buying these days. He was nicely on (as they all were) Friday that week in SF. Last few tours shows I have caught with Steve have had a pretty detached, dialing in it aura - maybe just bad nights for him, but if he's not totally on, the rest is pretty so-so. Having Dylan seemed to add a lot of oomph to the whole show and I think Billy has settled in to his role and delivered some nice vocals. He's always added something to Yes, first saw him on Talk tour - I think transitioning to stand-in has been a bit of work, not so much in terms of musicianship just footing. I think "authentic" vs "inauthentic" is a less useful yardstick. I have to say IMO I have trouble with the notion that the Howe band is "at all" "authentic" insofar as there is a touring band with the sole (active) survivor of the band and whose total contribution is unquestionably the biggest, musically and shaping the band. They have done nothing significant since he left/was ousted; it is what it is. When Steve is on, the whole thing is worth the price of admission and the other guys hold up their end nicely.
Very well Put..Totally agree I do think the Steve Howe / Alan White band are basically a tribute act tbh...Where as Jon"s the original Vocalist Rick"s their Legendary Wizard (& Longest serving) keyboard Player from the Classic Line up & Trevor (IMHO) Brought them back from the dead in the 80s with their Biggest selling Most Successful albums & Singles
People walking around as if they are going for a stroll......while Yes is playing.....how crazy and disrespectfull can you be???!!! Kick them out...fast!
Dang the worst version of And you and I I've ever heard. I used to love Rabin doing that song with the YES WEST lineup. Ahem, Wakeman what are you doing with all of that twinkly stuff???
Rabin sounds good and the tempo is better, but it’s as sad as official Yes, but in a different way. Kinda Frankensteined nostalgia (neither band feels authentic), for a bunch of balding fans.
Without Chris Or Jon A. there is no yes ,you can replace one you cant replace both, Steve Howe is a great guitarist , but without the core two ,its not yes
I think Trevor must be having problems with his hands. Every interview I see or picture of him not on stage, he has his hands in fingerless gloves that look like compression gloves. If you listen closely it seems his biggest problem is he’s not bending notes very well/accurately. I’ve heard him sound really good within the last 5 years, but now it seems like he’s definitely having problems. Hopefully it is just spending so much time producing and not playing, but I don’t know. I took a lonnnnnng break from playing myself and definitely have some hand issues now, but the bending strength and accuracy did come back, just took a little while.
Trevor said in an interview that he injured his hand, which affected his playing during a certain stretch of the Yes-ARW tour. This show could be from that period when his hand was hurt.
