YES, Colonel Sanders was a real person. 

I met Colonel Sanders many times when I was a child , he used to go to a diner in Shores Florida, he always dressed like that , and he was a very quiet man.

Thank you for putting this online. My mother, born in Hodgenville, KY, was a waitress at Claudia Sanders' ("the Colonel's lady") Dinner House .

This interview must have been just weeks before the colonel died. He died at age 90 on December 16, 1980
