ISP with capped need to raise the caps to 1.5TB - 2TB, technology is evolving, streaming, more activities, much like minimum wage. A total scam from ISP that's capping and it's stupid.
@Zeus comcast is 1.2 terabytes a month for some. I have unlimited data through comcast but don't pay that 30 dollars fee tho. I cut my service for like a day or 2 and resign up with unlimited data of i was you.
Its all about competition Back in the olden days when there was only a few telephone companies you had to pay extra for long distance calls But today with a million way to make a call no one could get away with charging long distance fees The same thing will happen with data limits once more companies start offering internet
I am Comcast internet only, 1 person 1 TV and I am close to going over 1 TB every month. But apparently if you have cable tv you can watch Prime Video thru the TV Box and they don't look at data usage there.
Thanks Data that is so helpful. I guess my point was that I do use a Prime Video Devise which is over-the-top (OTT) and it uses Data which takes me to the limit each month. But if I were to use the Xfinity TV box it would not use up any data. Just wanted to let people know they can use less data if they use the app on Xfinity.
My isp just doubled my data and halved my peak hour speeds. They are so out of touch I actually can't wait to see the tears when starlink and other satellite providers clean thier plate for them...
-Use antenna more -If you are a repeat watcher down and watch -use on demand rather than live stream -adjust data use (ie like Netflix) -turn tv off more and read -watch DVDs rather than streaming
I have US cellular home internet 300gb data cap netgear Orbi LBR20 I wish they add more 😢 cause my Xbox uses alot ofndata nowadays me and my grandparents use the internet 😢 being throttle 1.5mbps
@@unknownwolf4046yeah if you download a game to Xbox that’s 200gb then you are fucked. If you only have like 400gb a month, there goes half your data for the month
I used to have Century Link and I paid $75 for completely unlimited high speed internet. Then I moved… now I’m with Cox and have a 1Tb data cap, which I surpass pretty consistently which I extremely hate 🤦🏻♂️ not to mention the higher price of $110
I use an antenna with a Tablo DVR to record or watch live the major broadcast stations (ABC, CBS, PBS, etc.) and use YTTV for anything else. The Tablo uses my router but not the modem so no data usage (actually a little to update the 2 week program guide). I also fall asleep to the TV every night so I make sure I have the Tablo on and not YTTV or some other streaming service. I have Comcast internet so data caps are very real.
I'm still shocked and confused the day I heard about "data caps." I know FOR A FACT growing up they didn't exist, and then all of a sudden, I had to be careful how much I download, it's stupid... I was like "You mean like electricity meter readers? Those don't exist for DATA!" I mean, I knew about cellphones, but noe it's reversed, I have unlimited phone data, bit limited home data, WTF...
I have Viasat a satellite internet company. There is an unlimited internet plan but the internet by itself is $150 a month. Speeds are usually around 2 Mb/s. It is extremely slow and we have a data cap of 150GB with the home phone which costs over $150 per month. I feel like we are getting robbed when my friend who has windstream is paying like $20 for their internet. To my surprise though there is a fiber cable on my road from AT&T. Let me remind you that I like on a dirt road. However AT&T won’t install a connection port for my neighborhood. I hate to see how ISP’s don’t care about people.
We have Sparklight (I think Century Link here just changed their name) and we have 300gb data limit! After 3 overages they automatically bump you to the 600gb plan. But anyway my best tip is to budget your data by day. 300gb/month gives me about 10gb/day. So if I'm averaging much more than that, I know to slow my roll.
I get 300gb a month but gonna add more me and my grandparents use at least 550gb a month i seen the bill each month I have us cellular home internet 300gb data cap
I have century link vdsl 2 80/40 and use like 3tb a month without any probs LOL xfinity was charging me like 50-100 extra a month before i switched just waiting for 1gb fiber now should be within the next few months
in all honesty, 1 TB of data is sufficient for 1080p browsing for good 4 member family. Now if you have 4k tv and chrome stick, amazon stick and what not, then that means you can easily spend more money for another 1 or 2 TB. My ISP gives me 3333 TB for 100 mbps... I have never gone over 1.5 TB a month and that too only once... If average income family members are consuming people are consuming even 1.5 TB, that means two things... either they are doing nothing else ...or they are using it for commercial work.
Data limits are a thing of the past and are just a greed capture attempt. Most customer supporting ISP suppliers do not have data caps. I exceed Cox fiber limits every month so I will never use COX until it drops data caps.
ISP: here's our new 10Mbps Unlimited plan Costing $$$. Me: Cool so I can now Watch 4K uncompressed Videos. ISP: Once you reach 80GB your speed will be throttled to 4Mbps. Me: But you said it's unlimited? ISP: Also if you reach 20GB after 4Mbps throttling you will be throttled to 128kbps. Me: Why are you calling it unlimited? ISP: You can use as much data as you want . :-)
I get 300 Mbps/30 Mbps on my old Sprint Unlimited, My Way plan in Las Vegas, NV. I've pushed over 524 GB over cellular between April 1st and April 30th, 2020.
How do people survive on data caps - Have always had decently priced unlimited - not sure how it works in the US though as I’m in the 🇬🇧 great video though Craig
How can I fix my data cap issues when using the amount of data that I have is out of my control cuz most of the data is drained from my Xbox One and even then it's slow laggy and God but I've used a terabyte of data in a day
data caps aren’t high we pay $300 for 200 gigs and we find are selves out and we still have 11 days left and we cut down and use lower quality and do other things to keep it low. Edit: we have gci and it is not even satellite it’s copper cables and hughes net is terrible.
Just be aware that you can severely damage an OLED tvs by disconnecting it from power when off. During inactive periods the firmware is cycling the pixel map so that they don't get image retention. Just thought it should be mentioned for those who may read this with an OLED and think it might be a good idea ;)
@@royjones8012 yup, thats not a problem at all. Oled tvs are emissive, so the pixel is its own light source, and the panel needs time to map any changes of each pixels brightness when turned off to balance those changes. Very damaging to disconnect power to them when not in use. Not a problem for Led tvs at all.
Cox just bamboozled me out of an additional 50 bucks a month for unlimited. The minute we went all 4K TV we started hitting the 1TB limit easily. My Plex server isn’t setup yet and I’ve got Disney+ coming so I gotta pay.
Your Plex server "should" help your data. You won't be charged for internal traffic. Unless for some reason your server is outside of your home. My data cap was fine using plex for TV via Hdhomerun and my extensive movie collection. I have never gone over. But, Disney+ packaged Hulu and ESPN+. I have gone over the terabyte limit by double already. It is going to be a real problem.
If we had net neutrality this wouldn't be a thing. Internet providers wouldn't be able to charge for data caps. It's a scam to get more money out of there customers.
@@thesoulminded_-2631 I realize this reply is extremely late but Net Neutrality has nothing to do with caps. Its purpose was to ensure all traffic had equal priority and that you wouldn't have to pay more (to your isp) for a fast lane to certain services on the net. Data caps have existed before, during, and after the repeal of net neutrality.
Just wait until the PS5 comes out the PS5 games will be 100 GB big and that can cause you to reach your data cap then after that you have to pay a freaking 10 to 20 dollars extra for 50 GB more of data which is stupid it should be illegal to have data caps because if I pay for unlimited data companies should not be allowed to throttle your data or have data caps against you.

I live in a 4 family members household with smart tvs, Netflix, online gaming etc. but we usually only use around 300-400 GB data each month. Also, can you review toast.net ISP?
