Omg making nonfiction real sexy with this month! Love Aoyoade! If you haven’t yet, both his films Double and Submarine are cheeky fun! Submarine is actually based off of a book reeking of teen adolescence, British isle style. And for the film, Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys did the soundtrack. Master of None is sooo underrated. Perhaps I will rewatch it! Just love the color grading of it all! And eep the Sackler book! If you get a chance, All the Beauty and the Bloodshed is such a good doc on their takedown by Nan Goldin! Love to see you back bb!

Ahh i should rewatch his movies!! They’re super wonky 🫶🏻 oo i didnt know submarine is a book adaptation! Double is a dostoevsky short story! Omg i love that master of none color grading, and the clubbing music! Oo yes empire of pain mentions the nan goldin doc i have to watch i only watched the multiple john oliver eps he did on the sacklers over the years. Tyty hope to see a new vid from u whenever ur ready 🙆🏻‍♀️

Patrick Radden Keefe is just such a good journalistic writer, isnt he? What a sad, sad story. It did allow me to have more empathy for those that are addicted to substances. It really opened my eyes even wider. Grief is For People was also an incredible read for me. I’ve read, overall, some real top-notch memoirs and essay collections this year. This tops that pile. In this book, didn’t you love how the jewelry and getting back the jewelry personifies her grief, becomes a stand in for wanting her friend back.

It’s so satisfying when an extremely hyped writer meets expectations and that is very much the case for prk ❤️ I was prepared to like grief is for people - I didn’t expect it to be my favorite of her books and ive read/like them all. She is incredibly articulate and im in complete awe of her creativity with words.

I only know Ayoade from the It Crowd, fantastic show. How do you choose your books, example how did you find the ayoade book? I read everything by stephen fry, recommend his autobiography, he is good in everything he is doing.

The books often come very randomly. For the aoyade, i was watching ben’s instagram reels that are often graham norton interviews i’ve never seen so will look them up on youtube, and i’ll go down a spiral of other graham norton clips and that’s how i found the aoyade interview when he was promoting the book.
