This segment is from Going For The One rehearsals and shows the band during a take for Parallels
- Disc 1 - Going For The One Sessions, Mountain Studios in Montreux, Switzerland 1976:
- Almost ALL annoying dropouts patched up with carefully placed edits. We think we pulled it off and you'll be happy to finally see a smooth viewing of this fantastic insight into the making of Going For The One album with almost no notice of the patches!
- Disc 2
Live in Glasgow, Scotland, November 8, 1977
- Same deal in that almost all annoying dropouts were patched up but this time mostly with parts of another show from same tour in Boston 1977 enhanced with some audio filters to match original audio as much as possible and again we're confident we pulled it off with minimal interruption of what is truly a remarkable performance by Yes this night. The band is getting on well and it shows with the band in top form this particular evening.
DVD 1 - Going For The One Sessions:
1 - Jam Session
2 - Awaken/Steve jam/Rick follies
3 - Awaken #2
4 - Turn of the Century
5 - Guitar tech rehearsing Awaken
6 - Tour Meeting
7 - Parallels various takes
8 - Positively 4th St/Knockin On Heaven's Door/Bye, Bye Love - Steve/Chris
9 - Going For The One #1
10 - Vevey - Jon/Rick
11 - Alan/Chris jam session
12 - Steve Howe jam session
13 - Masquerade Improv
14 - Wonderous Stories
15 - Going For The One #2
16 - Awaken #3
17 - Parallels instrumental final take
DVD 2:
Live in Glasgow, Scotland, November 8, 1977 Going For The One Tour:
- This footage also had a LOT of droputs that were patched up as much as possible so you can enjoy the concert as it was intended to be heard. We are happy with the results of this re-edit as well. Wonderous Stories was so messed up with dropouts it was not listenable so we had to completely replace the original altogether with a performance from Boston 1977 same tour. The rest of the concert is as is but now runs almost free of interruptions
1 - Firebird Suite
2 - Parallels
3 - I've Seen All Good People
4 - Close To The Edge
5 - Wonderous Stories
6 - Colours Of The Rainbow
7 - Turn Of The Century
8 - Tour Song (It's Good To Be In Scotland)
9 - And You And I
10 - Rick's Trick
11 - Going For The One
12 - Flight Jam
13 - Awaken (cut off at end)
We hope you enjoy these clips and if you do please by the original Going For The One Album at a store near you.

Look at Alan at the end; he's like "that was a great take! Don’t wanna so much as breathe in case I make an extraneous noise!"😀 Utter poetry from the masters. RIP Chris and Alan.

Thank the gods that there were musicians prepared to go this hard in the 70's. Alan White finishes with a look on his face like he's just run a very fast 1500m. Chris is injecting every ounce of energy he can into his bass. What a fantastic album this is and Parallels is but one of 5 perfect tracks that are all so distinct and brilliant. This is the full potential of 70's prog rock realized. Those for whom this era means nothing will never understand.

yes i agree, for my fortune i always loved alan white since i knew Yes at the time of VHS of 9012 live directed and edited by steven soderbergh, so i had in a quickly time 90125 drama yes album fragile ctte yessongs and yessohws in 2 weeks because it was love and necessity at 1st time immediatly, i was 14, my world made of synth pop on radio and classical at home changed. and i had at one time the same passion for genesis, radically. 2 faces of same medallion for me as teenager. so i always had my answer towards general opinion about absolutism of solution of one only kind..... alan white is a pure pleasure grooving, you cannot say the same of bruford for example, a different kind of grooving, maybe more mental, more as for a camera quartet or trio. i mean i love bruford, i cannot think anothet one on fragile and close to the edge but i nevet had problem with the different live drumming of those tracks on live performance, all the opposite, i always loved listen to live records to feel the real thing around me, acknoledging how any time is a different performing you have to realize, to centre, to play with love and energy with your presence all together. think to southern rock bands how they are based in balance when on a stage. so alan white is made of that substance, a friend a mate a titan a true man drummer

What an amazing look into Yes doing their thing! A few observations... I never saw Steve play so many barre chords before! Looks like Chris (RIP) is playing a Fender - I think he wanted a "blunter, thicker" sound - his Ricky would have him a more sharp, square sound. That kit Alan is playing looks to be the exact same one he played on tour (Yessongs) in 1972. Again, with Chris's use of the Fender, the attack is more muted and gives a fuller, broader sound. You put Chris and Alan's choice of instruments - and Rick's church pipe organ from Montreux, and you get the grand, magical sound that is "Parallels"! Caution: Geniuses at work!
@johnnicholson8345
@johnnicholson8345 3 года назад
yeah, there were precious few songs in the 70's period that Chris didn't do on his signature 4001 and this is one. He used his Tele bass on no opportunity and obviously the Wal for Awaken. Even on CTTE there are a few brief appearances of a short scale bass that does the slides up the neck (after key solo). This is why my main two basses are the 4001CS and a 68 Jazz.

Squire wrote the song. Wakeman starts and regulates the engine. Good work.

While they were in Switzerland doing this album, Rick, Chris and Alan also recorded Rick's solo record called Criminal Record. It also featured that pipe organ recorded with bass and drums over phone lines again.

Este tema es puro virtuosismo y energía. Cuanta creatividad! Gris squire supremo!! Escucho YES desde mi infancia. Ahora con 53 años sigo asombrandome y disfrutando cada arreglo. Desde Argentina...larga vida a YES!

Yeah that recording was an great one, rick wakeman was in the empty church sitting by the organ, playing the idea of Chris Squire on paper, recorded through an telefon... great mastered, playing an solo, while the others hitting down an amazing backing track. Steve howe, alan white and Mr squire playing an amazing foundation of clean heavy rockin music, the basslines are incredible... those kind of sound or music isnt avalible from most modern bands today, a testament of time from the classic yes line up.
