The baselines alone are on a different level Chris squire was an incredible bass player. The whole song very difficult to play but they pulled it off and quite well
The lead vocalist really has talent. I'd love to hear them cover this in the studio where the mix is easier to control. I'm sure it would sound much better, but it's still good. Yes's songs are tough to do.
A tough song to cover. One of my favorites of all time. That lead singer girl's voice is so smooth and so right. Wow. The whole band is spot on. The keyboard kid nailed it!
Tough song to cover… hats off to these youngins! Kudos to the bass player… guy’s rocking!!! Guitar (black LP) nailing the licks. Vocalist Drummer and keyboard did an excellent job! Thank you! ✌🏼👌👍🏼🥰
PHENOMENAL! My favorite band of over 50 years. These kids showed tremendous talent. Rhythm section was on point. Vocals were excellent. Singing Jon Anderson is not an easy task. She did great. Keys were also fantastic. Wakeman would be proud. Guitar work was incredible. Steve Howe being one of the best guitarists in the world. This band took a very difficult song and made it their own. Video and sound were exceptional! Great venue. This is a video that can be watched over and over and you will see and hear something new every time! Great job by this SoR band! Turn it up, close your eyes, and take the musical journey that is YES!!!
WOW! Wonferful performance of a song not an easy one! Great to see young talented people playing like the're pros. Good job all, being the bass player and the lead vocals outstanding!
This was a superb rendition by this young group of musicians. The pretty female vocalist carried this song all the way with fury and talent. There are no easy songs produced by YES. All great musical works of art. I was first introduced to Yes while at prep school in the 70's The level of talent emanating from the School of Rock is boundless. The other dark haired pretty female singer, does a great job nailing the vocals on Avenging Annie. Keep up the great work on old tunes that stand the test of time. You can tell the young musicians appreciate the depth of these old quality tunes. Rock On
Impressive indeed, however I don't think I've ever seen a pair of drumsticks quite that big around before, maybe that's what amateur drum sticks look like, dunno.
Brilliant effort, difficult song to master. Special mention to the vocals and bass, extra marks for that Ricky bass tone. The vocalist did a great job, not trying to imitate, but bringing her own flair and voice to the fore. All round(about 😁) great stuff, good to know this music is appreciated by young people today.
I have to mix a stereo feed from the soundboard with a pair of mics because the guitar and bass ants are so freaking loud on stage, that none of them wind up in the board mix. If guitar and bass players want to be heard, they should turn down their amplifiers.
@@ernsthergenbeck872: Got your remark, and listened to it again just now. Yes, everyone here made some mistakes, but minor and insignificant as far as Iḿ concerned. You must be a hell of a keyboardist, and assumably better at this age? Well, it´s been six years since this vid, so maybe he´s practiced to the point of meeting your standards, but as for me, I think he did a brilliant job.
@@jaelge I do not play keyboards. I am not even a fan of ProgRock icons like Yes and surely not of a pompous guy like Wakeman. Didn't like him when I was young, and don't like him now - despite his undoubtable technical skills. But I do hear that the keyboard guy got nearly every arpeggio wrong. Were I to improvise over that (a thing that deplorably is not practiced in these schools, it seems), it would probably kill me. But first of all, I am not an unconditional friend of Pavlovian conditioning. There is no disgrace in failing. But there is in listening to soft-talkers.
I like the fact the singer kept the song within herself, talent/ range. Make the song your own is more than a mantra. Unless you're a tribute band, nothing says that you can't be true to yourself. It just sounds so much authentic when you are not trying to imitate every nuance of the original.
@@manthony1956 Never have i seen a school of rock band use cheat sheets and i have watched hundreds of these videos and have bought dozens of the dvds. She should of learned the words and the song. No excuse!
My Lord this is a very difficult song , Jon Anderson voice is so unique and to do a Rick Wakeman well ... , man thats hard . BUT you guys are great to keep this music alive - Thank you !! . You are the future of real music and you are good . ( to whom it may concern - I love the singer :- )
Jon Anderson is a huge fan of the School of Rock program, and has performed with the kids several times. Here's one of my favorites: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iqRXbO5gQEg.html
@@MidWestConcertVideo2 Thank you so much - it is sooo good and you made me happy !!! here is a link that i wanted to ask you if the girl lead singer appear in other videos - she is a great unique special with her own foot print on preforming a song singer , different like An Angelina Jordan ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GlG-vN8i9Qc.html
@@MidWestConcertVideo2 Thank you for responding , if you happen to see her on any video , if you dont mind please let me know , again thank you very much indeed !!
Phenomenal! Splendid! FIRE. Keyboardist and lead guitar especially killed it. Loved how the backup singers were dancing around and vibing, too! Great editing of shots as well! Tough song to cover, so wondrous to hear done well, which this was!
Ill just say Wowza!!! This is quite an advanced song. Nobody covers it cause you need a whole band of virtuosos and not just a couple of em. From the keyboards to the Bass, Drums, a couple,3 guitars, And of course the vocals n back up. Alot of people kno this song and cant play it with thier band. GREAT JOB GUYS! and if everybody hast already said so... that singer is the coolest lookin chick around. Keep it up peeps
Excellent job! You guys nailed it. It is so good for an older guy like myself who grew up listening to progressive rock hear our next generation of rockers keep this music alive. Long Live Rock!
I'm going to score this like bull riding: up to 50 points for the bull, up to 50 points for the rider. 50 points for the bull, this is a really tough song. 10/10 for the arrangement, 9/10 on bass and drums, 9/10 keys, 9/10 vocals, and 6/10 guitar. 93 points overall
Gtreat job, being a bass player I suffered from the same issue of playing too fast and leading the entire band into a frenzy of trying to keep up with me..
Sweet, my man on the bass is toting a Rick!!!! He's got it sounding pretty close to Chris Squire's Rick too. I'll give him credit for getting as close to the original as he can. Well done, young man!
that bassist SLAPS.. dude has a career in music for sure. I'll also say its a shame that all these young girl singing covers today try to imitate the lazy dragging vocal style like pink and christina aguilera. i wish that trend would die out forever.
Both guitarist blow it this song especially the intro all of them rushed through it except the girl singing which I thought did a good job, can't be easy to follow Jon Anderson
Great performance. These kids obviously really work hard and it shows. One does wonder who let the dork with the glasses on stage to do his weird "dance" moves.
I am alone - of course - in this comment - but am I the only one that thinks this song doesn't quite work? This is due - it seems to me - NOT because of any lack in the prodigious talent of the performers - but rather something about the original - that seems so eclectic that it gains points on musical sophistication but fundamentally fails in being something that generates a desire for repeat listening??!! Is this an original song that is so clever that it ends up disappearing up its own ass??
I have to agree with someone else who commented on the singer I thought she did an exceptional job very very good. She carried the tune pretty well in her tone is good I thought I think she has a future. As a professional singer potentially.
You just don’t see covers of YES songs, especially roundabout. There is a reason for that, every instrument including vocals is a black Diamond trail. These kids are pros. Very well done. Wonder what they are up too now? Anyone know?
@@jeffschielka7845 She is now in New York City, where she performs professionally, and she has learned the words. She has a few covers on youtube. Has also released an EP called What is Honest. When told about this video she said she was surprised that it was still available. She grew up to be very talented singer, and quite the beauty. When next I am in NYC I will have to look up one of her shows.
Yeah.. no.. her voice doesn't have the right pitch.. i mean the original song.. when you hear it.. they're giving it a high pitch, that and i think there's more than a single person singing.
